Chapter 2: Unit 4
I sat back on the couch and looked at the coffee mug which I had placed at the top of the table while looking at the chaos. The coffee had completely turned ice cold by looking at it I didn't want to drink it at all. I hate cold coffees (No offense to cold coffee lovers). Aman arrived at the living room wearing sky blue shirt and black trousers, trust me he was looking cute. He smiled at me and suddenly I felt as if I have a heart, I mean I do have emotions but the biological heart is with my body which was burried. This thought send shivers through my body. Aman looked at me and said, “ Don't you want to change?” I still can't forget what happened when the last time I changed my clothes it was awfully funny. “ I can't change my clothes Aman. I don't have a body,” I told him. “Okay, so we have to grab a cab,” he said while locking the door.
Millions of second later we finally got into a taxi. I asked Aman curiously, “It's 9 am already, aren't you getting late?” “Well, in event management offices we don't have any time limit, we don't even get paid regularly it depends on how many parties we have successfully arranged,”Aman answered. “That explains why were you not able to pay your rent,” I said sarcastically and Aman smiled which made him thousand times more attractive. We reached his office, I guess because he asked the driver to stop the cab. I got down as he paid the taxi bill then we both walked inside his office.
It didn't look formal at all the walls looked as if a disco ball had exploded on them because the room was painted with different shades of colors. There were fifteen desks kept at a distance from each other followed by one chair at each desk. I spotted Aman's full name ‘Aman Mehra’ written on one of the desks at the corner. At the right side of the room was a door leading to another room. It must definitely be the manager's office because there was a nameplate on the door on which the word manager was written in bold letters.
Aman gestured me to follow him towards his desk he sat down on his chair, I spotted an empty chair beside him and according to me everyone else was seated on their seats. I asked Aman about that empty chair and he replied that the girl to whom this seat was eloted got married and left our city so no one sits here. So I sat down there and placed my legs on the desk and no one told me that I should sit properly, you can do whatever you want when no one can see you. Aman looked at my direction and giggled.
He pulled his chair towards mine and asked, “ Can you posses people?” “Yes, I can but I don't want to... I never tried.” I replied. I don't want to posses anybody, I don't want anyone to feel trapped inside their own body, it's like they would want to do something but they can't because something is conquering their body. Suddenly I felt as if I was possessed as well because whenever I wanted to do anything, something in my mind said that there are so many people or what will they think?
Aman sat upright on his chair and said, “Hey! What are you thinking?” “Sorry, it was just flashback.” I replied hesitantly. I don't know why but Aman's eyes widened and he said, “I don't even know your name!” a bit too loudly because everyone else looked at him and asked whether he was okay, he answered that he was reading a book and he read the last sentence a bit loudly, just just smiled at him. I don't know why the believed him? There was no sign of any book in his hands. I think he really can charmspeak. I dropped that thought instantly when he turned towards me and whispered, “Sorry about that. What is your name? ” “Akanksha Mathur” I replied. He didn't say anything just smiled at me.
He then stood up and got one book from his table and returned back to the table beside me. He turned the pages of the book and I realized it had decorative ideas in it. I hope he doesn't ask me about them my choice is miserable. Oh no! He turned his eyes towards me and asked, “I this better or this?” Darn it! Okay Akanksha there are only two choices very difficult choices. “It depends about what even are these decors for,” I asked “A 12 years old girl's birthday party who loves books like anything.” I was reminded of my own self, when I was twelve I wanted to paint my room with all the characters from Percy Jackson ofcourse I did not wanted to invite anyone else and as usual my dream of painting fictional characters on my room never came true.
I said, “I think you should keep the lights a bit dim, then paint the walls with different fictional characters from the major books I guess that would cover up the whole walls and yes and instead of wearing normal birthday caps you can arrange caps looking like the sorting hat in Harry Potter, you know about the new balloons in the markets which looks like bats hanging upside down. I bet she would love it.” He looked at me with wide eyes and said, “WOW! Let me suggest this idea to boss.” Then he slowly disappeared behind the manager's door. My heart kept pounding until he came out with a huge grin on his face and said, “You are the best Akanksha!” I think he trusts me. He is the first person after Urja to trust me
