Chapter Four
Donatello stared at his lab table, fingers tapping at the surface as he contemplated his thoughts. Should I?, he thought. He wasn't sure it'd be a good idea to do it. What if he ran into someone, or something? Tactical Retreat, that's it! No, they could follow him, which would lead into him leading them to either their apartment or the lair. He could try to shake them off his tail, but, when has that ever worked? He shook his head clear as if it were Etch 'N' Sketch, and he could restart. Every scenario led to trouble. But, there was the single scenario that everything would go smoothly and Donatello would be able to do his thing and get back without anyone noticing. He tapped his fingers once more and decided that if anything happened he should bring back-up.
Donatello quietly went to Michelangelo's room, leaning into the doorway.
"Mikey?" Donatello got a snore in response.
"Mikey. . ." Snooooooore! Donnie rolled his eyes.
"Michelangelo!"
Michelangelo shot up in bed, turning his head side to side to try and see what had jarred him awake. He finally looked at Donnie.
"Donnie, what're you doin'? It's like. . . Not time to be awake. . ." Michelangelo said. Donatello opened the door a bit more, slinking his way into the room and closing the door behind himself. He flipped on the light and honestly wasn't surprised to see his brother wearing a pair of tighty-whities.
"Mikey, I need your help." Donatello said.
"Uh, dude, I don't know if you've figured this out yet or not, but, I'm not exactly the go to for your science-y stuff, bro." Michelangelo said, rubbing his eyes and sitting cross legged.
"No, that's not what I needed help with." Donatello took a deep breath, he felt stupid for going to his, well, most naive, brother for help, but he's the least likely to make fun of him for doing it. His brother watched him with a half-lidded gaze. Donatello closed his eyes as he spoke.
"Mikey, I want to leave a note for the human we saw earlier." He said. Michelangelo's eyes widened and he leaned forward in his bed, almost falling over.
"Dude. . ." Was all Michelangelo could get out. Donatello felt a little ashamed.
". . . Let's do it"
Donatello looked up at his brother who was grinning.
"What?"
"Dude, let's do it!" Michelangelo stood up, shed his underwear and started putting his gear back on.
"Mikey, I-"
Michelangelo looked up at Donatello, who smiled.
"Thank you."
Michelangelo grinned and patted his brother's shoulder and headed out the door of his room.
"No problem bro!"
Donatello and Michelangelo both made it to the surface with ease, not disturbing their brothers or sensei as they did. They were about halfway to where the human lived when Michelangelo piped up.
"Donnie, why're you doing this?"
Donatello stopped and looked at his orange banded brother.
"I don't know. . . I just, want to- I don't know, take a chance?" He shrugged as he spoke, only glancing at Michelangelo.
"I don't care dude. As long as you're happy." Michelangelo smiled as he reassured his brother, who finally looked at him and smiled.
"Thanks Mikey."
They both continued to the human's apartment. They reached the human teenager's apartment, and Donatello took the note he had written and went to the window.
"Dude, you are such a stalker!" Michelangelo said, giggling. Donatello shushed his brother as he lifted the window, set the note under it, and closed it.
"Alright, let's get out of here." He said, turning around to hurry back to the roof.
"You think they'll get it?" Donatello asked, as they were on their way back. Michelangelo looked at his brother, and saw how much he needed to be reassured right now, so he just nodded.
"Yeah man, totally! What'd you write on the love note anyway?" He grinned. Donatello looked sheepish, but answered.
"'You forgot to carry the two'." Michelangelo looked at taller brother with confusion and annoyance.
"What?! You made me wake up and go with you to give your Juliet a love note that just helps them with math?!" He said, throwing his arms up, so much for reassurance. Donatello glared at his brother.
"I'm trying my best okay!"
