My Alien Friend

Average day. Average world. Average people. Average me. Everything is just average- just the way I like it.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "What alien story is this?!" Well, I'm getting to that part. Nothing crazy can happen if nothing is ever... average per-say. I live in a dull town in Western Kansas. It is the definition of average and boring.

So when an alien showed up on my doorstep when my parents and two younger siblings just happened to be going to Colorado without me... lets just say I was a bit more than surprised.

"What the hell- I mean fudge?!" I whisper-yelled when I peaked out the window. "I live half a mile away from town, on a dirt road, on a fudging hill. Why is there some creepy person in a very realistic costume at my door?!"

I quickly moved my head away from the window, so the person... thing.... couldn't see me. My philosophy is, if I can't see it, it can't see me.

"I can see you," the thing spoke, it's voice muffled by the window keeping us separated.

I kept my back against the wall under the window, sweat pooling down my neck. That thing can't actually see me right? I mean, I can't see it!

"Am I not speaking the right language?" it questioned. "I know that humans in Western Kansas have a thing called 'slang,' but I didn't think that it was adequate to use since it was not in the database when I was learning English."

The thing continued to talk to itself.

"I will now attempt to use slang so you will understand me better. Let's see, ya'll should let me into dis house. Yeet."

"..."

"Yeet."

I was torn. Should I laugh, cry, scream, or try to call the police? And why does that thing keep talking like it's from another world?!

"Can you please let me in?" the being practically begged. "I brought an Earth food to thank you for letting me in, for I know that it is customary for guests to bring some sort of food or gift when welcomed into a home."

I heard the creature fumble through it's stuff.

"See, I brought you an apple," it said excitedly. "Can't you see? I can see you, so I'm sure you can see me..."

Nope. I definitely don't see human looking creature with light blue skin, emerald eyes, and navy blue hair. Nope.

"Maybe I should just come in.... where'd I put my blaster?"

"NOPE!" I shouted, standing up. I ran to my dads office and tugged open a door that lead to a gun safe.

I reached my hand onto the top of that safe, shuffling it around until I felt the cool metal key on my hand. Sliding the key across the top and into my left hand, I quickly shoved the key into the lock, twisting it, and successfully unlocking it.

I grabbed a random gun that looked semi-deadly and had some tiny round bullets in it and cocked the handle thing. What? Don't judge. I mean, I'm just a fifteen year old girl who has no knowledge on what gun she is using and how to use it, and I'm dealing with an armed alien intruder. Yeah, that's right! There's no way that thing is human!

There was a loud bang, and I heard debris flying everywhere, hitting walls and stuff. Oh gosh. Mom's gonna kill me.

I took the gun off safety and slowly walked out of the room.

I should've called the police.

The alien spotted me and waved. "There you are human, do you want an apple?"

I shook my head violently, my hands quivering. "I-I hate apples, and um... I'm armed too, and I'm not afraid to shoot!"

The female looking alien cocked her head and put her hand up to her chin. "Based on the data I've collected on human weapons, that weapon is not lethal and cannot harm me. I believe it is called a BB gun?" It suddenly clapped it's hands and looked overjoyed. "Is this a joke that I have been hearing about? I can't believe that I came across one so soon!"

Suddenly, it was like all the life went out of me. I dropped the gun and slumped against the wall. There's no way this thing means me harm. I looked over to the hole in the wall and back to the alien who was basically beaming with joy. She could've killed my if she wanted to.

"So human? What's your name?" the inquisitive alien asked.

I looked up a little and gave a half smile. "Kaycee Bright. You?"

"^%@#$^@^&*," she said, "but you can call me Breck."

I got up slowly and shook her hand. Glancing at her clothes, I noticed that they were made of some sort of sparkly material. Weird.

"So Breck... what brings you to Earth?" I asked.

She shrugged. "Oh, you know. The usual. Basically all, in your human terms, aliens come here to live with humans when their planet explodes. Apple?"

"No thanks and," I paused for a second. "WHAT?!"

"Planets explode all the time, you don't need to worry," Breck explained.

I began to sweat. Don't worry? Don't worry?! I took a deep breath in and let it out. The aliens wouldn't take refuge here if Earth was about to explode. Nothing to worry about.

"Now that we're friends, why don't we clean up this mess?" I asked, hoping she could somehow put the wall back together.

"Sure," she stated.

We put the house back together and made it look good as new. I now saw Aliens in a new light. They are way ahead of us in technology and kind. They make life here on Earth easier and happier. With their technology, we may not have to worry about disease ever again.

That's when the world exploded.
