Chapter 8. Into the Fallen Church

DATE: April 27, 2008
Sunday Afternoon.

*SLAM!*

Ben flinched at Rias' sudden action as she slammed her fist down on the ornate desk she was standing behind.

He had just gotten back to the clubroom a few moments ago, startling everyone gathered within; with the exception of Akeno who was dealing with something for Rias, when he suddenly came barging through the two doors with a disheveled look on his face and a yellow stuffed animal in his hand. When Rias asked him what had happened and why he had such a weird look on his face, he recounted what happened to him after Rias had left his house and quickly got to the part where he found Asia again and briefly glossed over the day they spent together. Ben didn't miss the slight sigh and shake of Rias' head as he brought up Asia but ignored it, determined to tell them everything.

When he came to the part where he and Asia encountered Raynare in the park and how he had fought her, keeping her at bay.

That had been the point where Rias had shot up out of her chair and slammed her fist down on her desk.

"Those Fallen Angels are really pissing me off!" She cursed with carefully contained fury. "It wasn't enough for them that they have the audacity to enter my territory for whatever scheme they're plotting, they have continued, time and time again, to attack members of my peerage!"

Ben continued on to the end of his tale.

"When she took Asia, Raynare mentioned something about a ritual they needed her for."

Rias placed her hands on her desk and shook her head slowly as she digested this.

"And for them to enter my territory to perform it, you can bet that it isn't something good."

"So what are we waiting for?!" Ben asked hurriedly as his grip on the toy in his hand tightened subconsciously. They had wasted enough time with him just telling them what had happened. "Whatever they're planning to do to Asia is happening tonight! We need to go and save her!"

"We can't!" Rias exclaimed, slamming her hands down on her desk again with frustration, though it wasn't directed at Ben.

"What do you mean?! Why not?!" Ben stared at Rias intently. "Is it because she's a member of the Church?!"

"No!"

Rias shook her head at his question and sat back down in her chair with another frustrated sigh.

"No, it's not because of that. I don't care what she is part of; if I could stop whatever those Fallen Angel bastards are planning I would do so."

"What's the problem then?"

"The problem is that if we move against them in response, it could lead to war between the Three Factions again."

Ben was silenced by Rias' statement, and from Azmuth's reaction inside his Sacred Gear, so was he.

"Are the relations between the Three Factions still so fragile?"

Rias nodded her head in response.

"They are. The Great War only ended with a ceasefire because it was the only way to stop the Three Factions from wiping each other out. Over a billion died in the war, including half of the 72 Pillars of Devil society, and left all three factions with a small fraction of their numbers.

"That being said though, even with the promise of complete destruction of Angels, Fallen Angels and Devils alike, the ceasefire is only paper-thin, a powder keg just waiting to go off so the war can continue where it ended."

Ben could only stare at Rias in shock as she explained how precarious the situation was. He looked across at Kiba and Koneko to see the Gremory Knight with a serious expression on his face. He saw Ben looking over at him and nodded his head slowly.

Rias wasn't finished yet though.

"I cannot...I will not be the one who starts the war again!" She sighed sadly at the look on Ben's face. "I'm sorry, Ben, but I cannot do that to my family or my people."

As if a great weight suddenly fell onto his shoulders, Ben found it incredibly hard to stay standing and had to sit down on the arm of the couch as everything he had heard sank in. if the state of things were truly that precarious, could he really go after Raynare and the other Fallen Angels to save Asia if it meant war? Even though he didn't truly understand what it meant to be a Devil yet, he understood that his actions had consequences that could affect so many.

He slouched forward, resting his knees on his thighs and took a deep breath, glancing down at the stuffed toy in his hand.

"So...so there's nothing we can do?" He asked quietly, his shoulders sagging dejectedly at the thought of leaving Asia to whatever it was the Fallen Angels wanted to subject her to. Though if they won't help him rescue he had to resort in asking favors from the Plumbers stationed here in Japanese through his connection as a Tennyson of course they could march there with their own Hunting gears against those Fallens. That's what is running through his mind right now but thanks to Rias sharing in Ben's anguish he was cut off from his idea of involving the Plumbers.

"I'm sorry, Ben. If there was a way...." Rias trailed off her sentence, leaving it unfinished but Ben knew what she was trying to tell him.

The door to the clubroom abruptly opened as Akeno entered the room, a scroll of parchment in her hand, and closed the door behind her as she walked around the couch Ben was sitting on and stopped beside Rias where she then handed her the scroll in her hand.

"This just arrived for you, Rias...." Akeno announced as she handed over the scroll. "It's from your brother."

Rias' eyes widened at this and took the scroll out of Akeno's hand, opened it quickly and read through it, her eyes darting back and forth across the parchment. When she reached the end of the letter, she shot up out of her chair again and looked at her gathered servants with a different expression on her face than before.

Where, before, it was an expression of doubt and frustration, it was now one of determination.

"There's been a change of plan."

(Later)

DATE: April 27, 2008
Sunday Evening at 8:00pm

Ben looked up at the cloudless night sky to see the crescent moon on its journey as it rose up over the treeline in the distance, its light illuminating the dark, foreboding church before him and the grounds around it, though he could see even more through his enhanced vision.

He looked at the church, determination in his eyes as he thought about Asia.

'Don't worry, Asia. I'll save you.'

"You ready?"

Ben looked to his left to see Kiba standing beside him with his sword drawn and looking back at him with a confident smile on his face.

"As I'll ever be." He replied with a short nod. He looked to his right to see Koneko wearing her fighter's gloves and cracking her knuckles in silent anticipation. "You ready?"

Koneko didn't look at him, her gaze fixed on the church before her, but she nodded her head in answer to his question.

"Let's go then." Ben said, leading the charge as the three Devils charged forward towards the church, bursting through the large, wooden double doors which, miraculously, stayed attached to their aged hinges as they swung open.

They entered to see the interior of the old church perfectly matched the crumbling and desolate look of its exterior. Sparsely furnished, the few wooden pews that occupied the church hall that hadn't either rotted away or been reduced to splinters from fallen masonry from the roof and ceiling had been pushed to the side of the hall, leaving only three pews in their original position at the other end of the hall from where they stood and facing the simple stone altar on the raised platform.

The three of them slowly pressed further into the church interior, their eyes and ears alert for signs of any potential ambush waiting for them. The doors behind them swung closed again with an echoey *creak* which was followed by nothing but silence as they continued to make their way into the church…and that was something that unnerved Ben.

'Where are they?' He thought as they continued to edge their way to the center of the dark church hall. 'And where is Asia?'

"They're here." Koneko declared, stopping in her tracks and taking up a defensive fighting stance and looking towards one of the few remaining columns standing beside the stone altar as a figure emerged from behind it, clapping their hands slowly, the sound reverberating throughout the church even in its crumbling state of disrepair.

Ben recognised the figure immediately.

"Freed!"

"So, we meet again!" Cackle Freed sadistically smirked. "Glad you can make it…." He continue to mocked them as he raised his left in a mocking wave besides his face. "I bet I'm a sight for sore eyes, Huh?"

"Yeah right!" Ben said, scoffing at him.

Freed enthusiastically spread open his arms besides him still have his mischievous smirk flustered on his face. "Here's the thing, I pride on the fact that I never have battle any more devil at once…" He proclaimed. "And yet here you are…" Glares at them for a bit. "Just rubbing it in…!" He paused sounding serious now as he puts his right arm in a side motion under his chin. "If there is one thing I won't abide, is being mocked by maggot devil's in the house of god!" He then put his both arms behind his back to reach out for something. "So what do you say?" He sadistically mocked them. "Let's finished this!" He full out his weapons both holy light sword in his right hand and Gun in his left at ready as he crossed both arms now with the one with his god beside his face as he glanced at it on his left with a crazed look of pleasure. "The mere thought of me tearing your flesh and eating it piece by piece making my mouth water!" This very statement sent shivers down the spines of our devils and a look of disgust visible on their faces as they watched him lick his gun.

"Cut the crap, Freed! Where the hell is Asia?!"

"Who? Oh, that traitorous nun bitch who tried to run from us? Yeah, she's downstairs with Raynare and helping her to perform the ritual."

Ben was thrown off guard by how easily Freed gave up the information and he wasn't the only one who was thrown off by Freed's willingness to answer his question.

"You're just going to tell us? Just like that?"

Freed shrugged his shoulder in response.

"Sure, why not? But first you lot have to go through me first." Cackle Freed at them mockingly as he went onto a fighting stance and the three followed suit.

Ben pressed something onto his Omnitrix dial and then soon enough his Nano Legion suit materialize into his body in a flash of green light and then he summoned his energy blade gauntlet into his left arm that has his Omnitrix and then. "Sacred Gear!" He summoned his Sacred Gear onto his right arm.

Koneko steps forward with a church long chair onto her hands and tossed it at the crazed Ex-exorcist. "Here catch!" As soon as she tossed it he just laughed and slice it in half with his Holy Light Sword.

"You’re pretty strong for a runt, aren't you?" He tried to compliment her but she frown at him.

"Suck it." Koneko said emotionlessly. And with that Freed quickly dodges from being  crashed by multiple Charis tossed at him by Koneko as he started firing bullets from his Holy revolter which was blocked by Kiba who leapt at him in a blink of an eye as Ben charged at him.

Freed saw Kiba diving towards him with his sword and he quickly retaliated by blocking them as they traded blows and with him mocking Kiba. "Come on! That all you got….?!"  He mocked Kiba who back flip him before charging as he rose his blade. "Show me something interesting!"  Kiba leapt at him as he saw Freed firing Holy bullets at him and when he sounds around he charge with a swing of his blade but was blocked by Fred who just gave a sadistic grinned at him.

"You're quick!" Kiba exclaimed as he struggled from holding up his sword.

"Well, you're not bad yourself." He stated as he has a glint in his eyes. "Of course that's only wanna me to kill you more!" Staring wide eyes in high aler he back flip immediately as Freed fired a bullet at his face and dodge it.

Ben was watching from behind ready to backed Kiba with his own blade but wanted to see how Kiba really fight as a swordman.

"Alright, If you wanna get serious about this, I can too." With an amused smirk as his blade in his hand materialize a black light of magic but the crazed Ex-exorcist charged at him as he swung his sword but then Kiba just grinned as their blades clashes at each other but to the crazed Ex-exorcist priest got shock as Kiba’s blade started spewing dark mist of light. ( It looks like in the anime. )

The dark light from Kiba's blade started dispelling the Holy Light from Freed’s blade. "HUH?! HEY, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!" Growled Freed in shock and frustration with a glare.

"The ‘Holy Eraser’ It's a sword that devours light." This just angered Freed.

"Please, you think I'm afraid of you?!" Despite having his sword of light dispelling he struggles to push Kiba back from him who snorted at him.

Ben, besides Koneko suit up and armed, was surprised behind his mask. "Whoa, I didn't know that Kiba has a sacred gear!" However his exclamation was ignored as Koneko was waiting for an opening to back Kiba up

"BEN!" Kiba called out to him and he nodded.

Ben aimed his Sacred Geared right hand towards Kiba. "[BOOST!]" Said a deep robotic voice from the red Gauntlet.

Freed saw this and aimed his pistol at Ben. "Alright that's it! I had enough of this Bullshit!"

(Back with Rias and Akeno.)

Mittelt who was still mocking Rias. "Rescue or not, I can't let you go."  Sneered The blonde Fallen Angel. “
"You’re like, Totally the captain of your loser squad, and if we take you out they're on a trip to  useless town." She then smirks in triumph and makes a pose as she spreads her wings out from her back. "Sorry, but I'm bringing friends to this tea party!"

Just then Rias and Akeno got alerted from behind them as a teleportation portal opens above from behind them and ascending from it was another female Fallen Angel along with the same man who attacked Ben a while back.

"Good work Mittelt." Kalawarner complimented her comrads and besides her was a male Fallen Angel Dohnaseek.

"Sad to say we meet again, Lady Gremory." Dohnaseek scoff. "You should've kept your servant in line."

"He stuck his nose where it doesn't belong again." She proclaimed having her hands besides her hips.

However the expressions from both King and Queen of the house of Gremory were just amused smirks. "Well, well the gangs are all here!" The S&M Devil Queen exclaimed excitedly.

Two opposing groups are now in a standoff with both smirks on their faces waiting to see who would win this battle.

( Back with Ben and the others. )

Ben and the rest are still fighting off Freed as he promotes himself to rook.

"Time for a promotion!" He soon felt the strength of their rook as he charged at Freed. "The Rook is a tank…" He then made a barrel roll maneuver as he sliced the incoming bullets at him with his energy Blade, not completely being careless this time around the crazed priest. "Its power is an unparalleled defensive strength." He muttered to himself though a bit louder to make Freed hear him as he dispelled his energy bladed and the Armored gauntlet-like glove producing was covered in energy in the form of his left fist ready to deliver one big punch at the psychopath priest.

Seeing this Freed could only stare in shock as if he was seeing Koneko through Ben as he leapt at him.

"Yeah, I'm fuck." He said in admittance of defeat.

"Did I forget to mention it can kick some serious ass?!" He cried out as his left armored fist landed straight on the Priest’s left cheek.

BOOM!

The coated energized Gloved-gauntlet fist exploded in a low charge energy this reaction caused the crazed Ex-exorcist thumbing near the broken down altar dropping his gun as he landed on the altar.

Ben deactivated his armor as he was covered in green light as it materialized back to the Omnitrix panting heavily as this is his first time using devil magic through promotion.

"And that's for Asia you freak, for what you did to her!" Catching his breath he smiles as this is his first punch at someone as a human. "Hey, that felt pretty good actually!"

Just then Freed comes out of the ruble where he landed looking pissed off as he glared at Ben. "You Bastard!" He leapt at him retracting two holy light swords.

Blinded by rage he didn't anticipated Koneko sneaking besides Ben as she held a longed church couch and threw it at him.

"OUTCHIE!" He cried though it didn't seems to pace him that much and as he got out under it he saw Kiba charging and leapt backwards in an pulpit.

He smirks mockingly at them. "I'll be damned if a bunch of Devils are gonna get the best of Freed Sellzen!" He glared at them as he pull out something on his collar shirt. "You won the battle. But not the war, scum!" He then tossed what seems to be a flashbomb onto the ground blinding the three devils as it exploded with bright light.

Hen the light died down he made his escape and Ben cussed under his breath.

"Damn, he got away." Ben cussed as Kiba stood next to him.

"Let's forget about him and keep moving." Kiba suggested and Ben nodded.

Koneko then punched away the pulpit and saw some kind of staircase underneath it leading to the basement. "Guys!" She called out and the two boys soon went to her.

( Church exterior. )

As they kept their standoff. "It seems very clear to us that your intention here is to obstruct our ritual."  Dohnaseek proclaimed with hostility on his voice.

"You'll pay for it with your lives!"  Kalawarner cackled darkly.

Rias just sighed at this and turn to her queen. "Akeno." She called out and the S&M Queen of her peerage nodded with a blissful smile.

"Already on it!" She proclaimed as she summon her magic and lightning came down upon her and summon her battle attire.

Mittelt pouted at this. "No fair! I wasn't told that we could wear costumes to this fight!"

Akeno just chuckled and made a hand gesture and started summoning another spell as dozens of magic red circles surrounded them all.

Dohnaseek gritted his teeth at this, recognizing those circles. "It's a Barrie…."

"Uh oh." Mittelt suddenly gulped at this, not liking the turn of events towards them. "We're totes screwed."

Akeno chuckles at that again, having pleasure in all of this as she charges her lightning magic. "Catching my prey in a cage makes me so hot!" She moans in pleasure as she blushes, licking her right hand as it flickered with lighting.

Kalawarner glares at them with a scoff. "So this is your plan the whole time?!" She concluded and to her annoyance Akeno nodded.

"Yup." Akeno said confidently. "And I'm gonna be taking a lot of pleasure out of watching you three pleasure hoped you're into S&M."

Mittelt looked on in disgust. "Ew, An S&M is so gross!" She said as she flew back towards her companions.

"End of the line for you." Rias stated smugly at them.

Sneering at them. "Hmm, Go ahead and act as confident as you want."  Kalawarner said.

"The ritual is almost done…." Dohnaseek added. "And once it's over… Not even you will have the power to stand against us, Lady Gremory." He sneered at her.

( Back at the Church’s Basement. )

Koneko-chan and Ben both nod at Kiba.

"Okay. Then we’ll open the door—"  And as he and Ben were about to open the door, the door opened by itself.

While making a large noise, the inside of the ritual place becomes visible.

"Welcome. Devils."

The Fallen Angel, Raynare, spoke from the end of the room.

The room is full of priests. They all have a sword handle that makes the blade of light in their hands.

However he wasn't focus on them as he was sorely focusing purely on the blonde-haired young lady hanging from the cross, her head hung low as she was restrained by thick chains which held her suspended in the air with her arms held up by more chains above her head from the base of the cross (which was now its top) and clad in nothing but her bra and panties and a flimsy dirty cloth.

"Asia!" Ben shouted as he saw her.

Asia raised her head at him calling her name, her eyes widening when they found him standing there.

"-B-Ben? You came.-" She whispered weakly through labored breathing, her eyes tearing up as she looked at him.

"Hold on! I'm coming!" He shouted as he tried to first run across into the cavern floor to the stone steps of the altar. but was halted by Kiba.

"No wait!" Kiba pulled him away enough as soon as….

*SWOOSH*

"ASIA!" Growled Ben.

A bright flash of red light materialized in front of them as if there was a light spear that exploded in front of them pushing them all back.

"It’s a touching reunion, but it’s too late. The ritual is about to finish now."

This horrified Ben as he thought. 'The ritual is finished?' He thought. 'What does she mean—' He was then cut off.

Soon enough the cross-like altar that has Asia chained started glowing along with her own body starts to glow as well.

"......Aaah, iyaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

Asia screams painfully at that.

"What are you doing to her?!" Ben demanded, pushing himself up and getting back on his feet. "You let her go right now!"

Kiba and Koneko soon realize what these Fallen Angels were after. "That was it! They're after their Sacred Gear!" He calmly but also a bit disgusted on how they did the methods.

( Back with Rias and Akeno )

Rias soon figured out what these Fallens were after. "I see now. You're all out to steal the Nun’s Sacred Gear and use it for your evil purpose." She scoffed at them.

( At the same with Ben's Group )

Asia kept screaming as Ben tried to grasp what these Fallens planning to do to her.

"Hold on a second, I don't understand…" He breathed heavily. "What’s gonna happen to her?" He asked.

Kiba looked at him sadly. "I'm sorry." He apologizes to Ben.

( Back with our King and Queen. )

Rias kept talking down to the Fallen Angels as she tried to label out their plans.

"Taking that from her is also taking her life."

( Back with Ben and the others )

At the same time both Kiba and Rias talking they were all silent as Ben stared in horror when  the ritual ended with Asia’s life flashing before her eyes as she stopped screaming and light emitted from her as her sacred gear was extracted from her.

"No i…it can't be… s…she's dying." Stuttered Ben in horror.

When the light stops, there is a Fallen Angel emitting green coloured light from her body.

"Ufufu. Ahahahahahaha! I finally have it! The supreme power! With this, I can become a supreme Fallen Angel! With this I can pay back all those who were looking down on me!"

The Fallen Angel makes a big laugh.

A/N: Dun dun dun. And Cut Oooh Asia has been killed Holy Hell Oh well. We have to get through the plot.

But is there more to Raynare doin this for her own selfish reasons or Is she just playing the Villain against someone else Plot who started this all?

What Should we do for Raynare this time around?

1. Spare Raynare and find out that she has been Brainwashed and we're twisted with her own perspective regarding their Missions Asia and Ben and their Sacred Gears. And was actually a Spy for a certain Governor General of their Faction but was caught by a certain  traitor of their Grigory Clan and had twisted her actions by someone else who plotted everything from the start in order to be this crazy?

2. Kill by Rias through her power of Destruction like in both LN, Manga and Anime?

3. Keep her as the actual selfish cruel bitch as she is but Spare her life and lock her up in the Null Void by Ben for future scenarios?

4. Have Raynare Spared and her played the Villain/Victim for someone else evil schemes from a one certain Ultimate Class Fallen Angel to convince our heroes that she is one while also secretly being corrupted by the Divine Powers of the Twilight healing along with the brainwashing that twisted her desires as a Fallen Angel which completely starting to change her completely?

5. Just straight up Beat up Raynare and have her lock up into the Null Void by Ben and be done with this Arc?
