"Are you okay?" A familiar voice asked.

I looked up so quickly that my neck hurt, because right there, standing five feet in front of me, was Jareth the Goblin King. I almost freaked out but then I realized I never answered his question, so I said yes.

"Oh, really? Is that why you're moping?" He asked, not unkindly.

"I'm not moping, I'm just thinking" I said tentatively.

"May I join you?" Jareth asked.

I moved over so that he would have room to sit down. He did.

"So, what are we thinking about?" He asked me.

"Well, I'm thinking about why my friend Dean is so late with his pie, and why Damon mysteriously disappeared when I told him that Dean was stuck in traffic, but most of all I'm wondering why my friend Izzy got dragged into this.

"Did you say traffic?" Jareth asked me.

"Yeah, why" I asked, unsure if he was going to disappear too.

"I've got to go. Can I talk to you later?"

"Sure, I guess" I said, feeling more and more deflated with each passing second.

Before I could register what had happened, he had turned into an owl and flew away.

Well, there goes another one of my favorite characters, mysteriously leaving. Again. But what I didn't know was that it was just the beginning.
