"There's monsters in this world honey, they'll hurt you. They'll find you. They'll eat you!" My mother had said tickling me as I screamed with laughter. "But mommy, no monsters will hurt me!" I had said back. "That's right honey your big and strong from all of the broccoli you've eaten!" She had told me in response.

It happened. A month after I came. Eloisa forgot to lock the door. I waited for a while, but she didn't come back. I slipped on my cozy slippers because the wood floor was cold and I tiptoed to the door. I carefully turned the doorknob, careful not to make a sound.

I tiptoed all the way downstairs and was greeted with a sound that chilled me to the bone. A growl and scratches came from the living room. My breathing slowed as I stood in the hallway in shock. Should I keep going? Was my door locked for a reason? I decided to keep moving and I soon came to the living room door.

A furry outline stood chewing an armchair. The creatures back (which was covered in woman's clothing) was to me so I couldn't see its face. I let out a small squeal of terror and to my horror it heard me. Quickly the monster turned around barring it's teeth at me. I recognized the horrible, hairy, monstrous face as it charged towards me.
