The Bash

Curiosity is one of Jason's best and worst traits.

He'd carefully been studying his neighbors, specifically, the one who went by the name Alejandro, with a sense of attraction. Not the sexual kind; although he was a beautiful man. An alluring man. With deep-space black orbs for eyes and long, soft curls that framed his face. It was more the curiosity kind of attraction, the kind that pulls-you-in, like a magnet for no other reason than polar attraction.

Perhaps it was his cool and collected look, or the mystery surrounding his eyes, or the fact he wouldn't even bid him hello. Strangely, Jason wanted the guy to like him without any real reasons why.

Every evening he saw him leave, to return much later, before dawn, with all kinds of different people, women and men alike.

Lately Jason had been standing outside in the cold of the night pretending to smoke, only to catch a glimpse of him. Tonight was no exception and on cue, he was out at the right time when the mystifying figure, walked towards his Harley.

""Hey man." Jason shrugged nonchalant, raising his head.

Alejandro knew exactly why he stood there... exactly what he was doing, and with a serious stare, nodded without saying a word.

"Doing anything for Halloween?"

Alejandro couldn't hold back a small smile. With a shrug he rested his back against the handlebars, "as a matter of fact, we're having a party tomorrow, if you're interested." His usual seductive voice smokier than usual.

Jason responded eagerly, "me?! Yeah man, groovy!"

Alejandro straddled the leather seat revving the bike, holding his stare, "starts at eleven."

<~><~><~>

Expensive cars and lavish clothes arrived at his doorstep. Alejandro loved the North American tradition for celebrating who he is; death, gore and trickery. Tonight, being the one night, he and his friends could be themselves, let their fangs show, be savages... no one would question it.

Crystal goblets full of red, warm blood filled the trays human servants carried around for guests. Raw, bloodied meats conveniently called "tartare" adorned the buffet table, and disco music, blasted throughout the home.

Alejandro looked strikingly handsome as he adjusted the lapels of the white, saturday-night-fever style jacket he decided to wear. His mouth salivated. More humans would soon arrive, and although content with the amount of blood being served; warm, fresh bodies always made a good night, great.

Jason also appeared in costume, a little more traditional than the cool disco themed the rest of the guest were wearing, which made Alejandro laugh and feel sorry for the guy.

"Sorry man, I assumed..." He confessed embarrassed.

"Who the hell are you?' He couldn't stop laughing.

"What?! The man of the decade?!"

Alejandro had not a clue.

"The Six Million Dollar Man!" His face turned red and reluctantly he removed the cheap wig he was wearing.

Shaking his head Alejandro patted him on the back and considered letting him live; perhaps he could keep him as a pet. He knew his Protégé Iris would love him, and couldn't wait for her to arrive.

"Nah man, keep it on."

With a black gown and wings, Iris entered the room like she owned the place, fangs out, and ready to strike. Intricate gold leaf tattoos adorned her face and arms.

"Good evening gentleman!"

She said smiling wide at her exlover and mentor, then at his prey. Their nonverbal communication impeccable, as they locked eyes and lead Jason to the back room.

"Iris, this is my new friend Jason. Jason, Iris." He smiled a wicked smile, "my gift to you. Keep him alive, I kinda like him."

Jason paled in worry, but Iris winked clapping her hands in pure delight.

"Cute wig."

Alejandro left, and Jason had no idea what was happening when her eyes turned red and the white, sharp fangs brutally pricked the tender skin, tearing at his neck. Blood ran the sides of her mouth and with her tongue, she licked the corners in elation, unconcerned for his life.

His screams were drowned by the music, and the bubbling sound of laughter in the air.
