trigger warning: mentions of death.
AS CHANGBIN SKIMMED THROUGH THE GRAVES, looking for the foreign yet familiar names, there was only one thought on his mind: what was he supposed to say to the people he had never even met?
His gaze finally landed on the familiar names and he sighed, suddenly feeling exhausted. He sat in front of the two graves and put the bouquet of flowers he had bought between them. He thought for a minute, unsure of what to say.
"Uh hi? Hi, I'm your son Changbin, the one you abandoned and shit. I'm only here cause grandma and grandpa wanted me to visit you, I guess? I don't really know what to say-" He was interrupted by a snort from behind him. He turned around to find a boy who looked around his age, with an amused look on his face.
"That's one hell of a eulogy, I gotta say." The boy said, sitting down beside Changbin. He had a deep, husky voice, which surprised Changbin since the boy looked like the definition of 'uwu'.
"Why are you-" Changbin started, wondering why the weird boy was sitting beside him in the graveyard.
"Visiting that one" he pointed to the adjacent grave. "I guess my friend and your parents are neighbours" the boy snorted again and Changbin stared at him in amazement. This was one messed up person.
Up close, Changbin could see the boy's cheeks specked with freckles, which looked just like stars. He thought they were absolutely beautiful.
The boy moved a little, making their knees brush, and Changbin felt a surge of warmth flow through him. He instinctively looked at his wrist and found that the familiar word was absent and instead of the pitch black ink, there stood a supernova of colours on his wrist.
Changbin had completely forgotten about his soulmate mark. He looked up at the boy and found him staring at him wide-eyed, holding his wrist tightly.
"So we're soulmates, huh? What are the odds?" The boy chuckled, shaking his head after a few minutes of silence.
"Well I guess we are. I'm Seo Changbin"
"I'm Lee Felix"
"Your real name is Felix?" Changbin asked, astonished by the foreign name.
"No, it's Yongbok. You call me that, and I'll kill you. Capisce?" Felix said, glaring at the other boy with a warning look.
"Understood" Changbin muttered.
"So what's up with the weird eulogy?" Felix questioned after a few moments of silence.
"Well I might as well tell you since we're soulmates, huh? They were my parents but they left me with my grandparents as soon as I was born to travel the world. I'm only here because my grandparents wanted me to visit them, but honestly? The only parents I've ever known are my grandparents themselves." Changbin answered with a bitter chuckle.
He looked up at Felix to find him staring at him with such an intensity, that it made shivers run down Changbin's spine.
Changbin was tempted to ask about the other boy's friend, but he felt that Felix wasn't the type of person to reveal such personal stuff easily, so he just sat in silence instead.
"How old are you?" Changbin asked after a few minutes, unable to find a better question to fill the silence.
"Eighteen"
"I'm nineteen"
"Oh, so I have to call you hyung?" Felix asked with an amused chuckle while raising an eyebrow at Changbin, challenging him to say yes.
So that's exactly what he did.
"Yeah, you do" The older replied with a smirk of his own, much to Felix's amusement and surprise. He hadn't expected Changbin to actually say yes, but he was pleasantly surprised.
"Oh I think we'll get along just fine, hyung." Felix said, much to Changbin's satisfaction.
"I must admit though, I didn't expect much when I saw that my soulmate mark said 'Graveyard'. I thought it might just be a dead person, knowing my luck. I am pleasantly surprised, though" Felix continued, and Changbin raised an eyebrow in apprehension.
"You thought it'd be a dead person?" He asked incredulously, looking at the younger boy with a cheeky smile.
"I don't know why, okay. I just did" Felix said defensively, making Changbin laugh out loud, holding his stomach.
"Hey! Stop laughing at me" Felix whined, softly hitting Changbin with his sweater-paw clad palms, which made the older coo a little on the inside. Who knew Felix was actually a softie?
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Do you have anywhere you need to be?"
"No, why?" Felix asked with curiosity.
"Well then you, Lee Felix, are coming with me to eat the best food you'll ever eat. One of my roommates makes the most amazing pasta, and tonight, he just happens to be making it" Changbin grinned, making Felix grin back.
"Lead the way, then"
