Chapter 6: Godric's Hollow

Albus, Quinn and Tyler had decided they would go to Godric's Hollow by broom, but Albus couldn't fly - at least not long distance, so he would have to hop on Tyler's broom. Late on Friday night they left the castle, and soared up the air, wind blowing in their faces.

"Aren't Muggles going to see us?" Asked Quinn, but it was more of a scream, due to the roaring wind.

"They wouldn't think much of it!" Exclaimed Tyler, and they steered towards the little village.

It was a long flight, and they really were very tired, but Albus had enjoyed seeing Quinn fly the entire way. When they finally landed Albus used a shrinking charm on the brooms and stuck them in his backpack he had taken to stuff things from the house in.

They walked towards the ruin - there wasn't much left of it, just the first floor and a lot of rubble - and opened the little gate.

"Come on." He said to his two friends, and they entered.

He tried the door - which as he expected was locked - then used his wand to open it.

"Watch it, the house is probably very fragile." Whispered Albus, and he whispered a short Lumos.

The light burned their eyes, as they looked around. Rubble, rubble, and furniture. Albus passed a desk, where some papers were laying. When he read them, he tried hard not to cry.

Dear Padfoot
We don't know what to expect, except that Lily is pregnant again. She's not that far in, but we hope it's a girl, so she could look like her. She thinks another boy would be just as fun, and Harry is a lovely boy. He's a brilliant flyer on his toy broom, probably Seeker material. I hope you are okay, say hello to Wormtail for us, he's a brilliant man. He would never betray us, so once this war freezes over we can live happily ever after and we can hang out like earlier again. Also, about Wormtail, maybe we should swap secret keepers again, because should You-Know-Who try him, he'd lose his tongue. Send your

That was the end of the letter. It hadn't been sent. Albus had tears in his eyes, and thoughts flew through his mind. Would my grandparents have lived if this letter had arrived? Would I have an aunt at Dad's side? Would dad be happier?

"Albus? Are you alright?" Asked Quinn, and Albus nodded, biting his lips, not to cry.

Quinn took the letter from his hand and stuck it in his backpack, then took his hand and took him towards the little living room, where a toy broom stood against the wall. Albus performed the shrinking Charm, to bring it to his dad. There were a lot more things, and at some point Albus burst in tears and cried. Quinn hugged him, and even though Albus felt like he was standing against a 10000000V electricity cable, he still cried.

Quinn made Albus sit down on the couch, and Tyler still looked around a bit.

"Hey Al, you want to go back to the castle?" asked Quinn, but Albus shook his head.

"I-I want to g-go and r-read more l-letters. F-for dad." said Albus, and Quinn shook her head.

"No, we should go back, this breaks you too much."

"You guys, someone's watching us." said Tyler, and both Albus and Quinn followed him to the dusty window.

A man with a large nose and a bit grey hair looked at them, long hair and a big mustache stood a bit outside of the house with a pair of binoculars and was looking at the three, but when he noticed they'd noticed him he walked towards the little gate and came to the house.

The three pulled out their wands instinctively and stood ready to attack the man, when he entered.

"Hello, Albus." he said, and Albus wasn't crying anymore. He tried his best to look strong.

"What do you want." He said, his voice shaky.

"I want to talk to you, Albus. You see, if you attack me now, you were in a house you shouldn't be in, and attacked me. I wouldn't do it. Did your 'friend' Scorpius tell you about me?" He said, but Albus didn't lower his wand, and shook his head. "Well, I am Igor. Igor Karkaroff. I was placed in Azkaban for killing people and following the Dark Lord. Thanks to your daddy he is dead and can't be brought back. But, we will rule. With a new lord. Aren't you excited? Albus Severus? Yes. Severus Snape was one of us. Certainly you knew that?"

Albus swallowed. "He wasn't. He w- He was in love with my grandmother. A-and he became Dumbledore's spy. Both were brave. My dad said Severus was the bravest man he ever met."

"Did he?" Scoffed Karkaroff. "Did he really? Well, did he tell you he absolutely despised him, and in his time at Hogwarts he would've done anything to get that man dead? No. Why not? Because people only say the best part of themselves, and your father would sound disgusting like that. Plus, he owed Severus big time. If Severus hadn't saved him every time, your father would be bloody dead."

"What do you want from me?" Asked Albus, desperate to change the subject.

"I want you to come with me. You can take faggot and princess with you." He answered pointing at Tyler and Quinn.

"Insult me, try to kill me, say whatever you want about me, but if you touch my friends I will kill you." Said Albus, scared of his own words.

"You wouldn't. We can do this the easy way, where you don't get hurt, or the hard way, where I will have to get you and your friends accidently knocked unconscious." Said Karkaroff, and he tightened his grip around his wand.

Albus recited every spell he could think of in his head, trying to find the best one for this man. He raised his wand slowly, opened his mouth but Karkaroff was quicker.

"Stupefy!" He yelled, but the three jumped down.

"Locomotor Wibbly" exclaimed Albus, and Karkaroff's legs collapsed.

"Stupe-"

"Mimble Wimble" exclaimed Tyler, and Karkaroff couldn't speak - his tongue was tied in a knot.

"Expelliarmus." Said Quinn, and she caught his wand.

Albus stepped towards the man - who was still on the dusty floor - and looked him straight in the eyes. "If you ever say anything about my friends again, this isn't the only thing I'll do to you." He said, and then he kicked Karkaroff in his balls. "Let's go." Said Albus, and he grabbed his backpack, took out the two broomsticks, and made them large again.

The three left the house, but Albus picked up a page that looked like a part of a diary and stuffed in his bag before they did.

***

Albus, Quinn and Tyler arrived at Hogwarts a bit before dawn. They were still in a shock, but were calming down.

"Albus, that was really amazing, you know." Said Quinn, and Albus smiled weakly.

"Are you guys alright? We should never have went there. That man, Karkaroff, he will probably try to come back to us. I think - I think my dad's going to be in danger."

"We're fine, Al. And your dad will be fine. He killed You-Know-Who."

"Let's try to get some sleep." Said Quinn, and they tiptoed into the castle, hoping they weren't going to be seen. When they were close to Gryffindor Tower they heard voices, so they hid.

"Listen, Felicia, I told you his dad's like them. My parents definitely aren't, but my grandfather was killed because he didn't want to anymore."

It was Scorpius.

"I know, but you have to talk to him, he won't speak to me. It's important to me." Said Felicia, the second voice.

"I tried, but he wouldn't talk to me because I interfered with the enemy in my first year. As if Albus is the enemy. That's ridiculous, he's really nice. Besides, what was it you wanted me to talk about? We already know his dad's one, I figured that out ages ago."

"It's about Quinn. And Albus. Listen, I haven't seen them this evening, so it could possibly be that they're listening, but Ervin told me a secret, and if I help him that will help me. But it's not going to be easy because Albus is practically drooling over her." Albus swallowed, and Tyler and Quinn looked at him, as if saying they were going to talk about it later.

"Then why don't you try Fred Weasley?"

"Dude. That's not how I can help Ervin!" Felicia explained.

"Okay, don't yell, teacher might hear us. Or Peeves. You know what, I don't want to do this. I don't even know what it will do for me."

Footsteps made clear that he had walked away, so the three slowly moved to go to the Gryffindor dorms. Luckily, Felicia had left too, so they were alone.

"Albus, what did she mean with 'drooling all over her'?" Asked Quinn, and Albus bit the inside of his cheek.

"It means that he cares about you, in case you get in danger." Said Tyler, and Albus nodded furiously, not ready to admit he might actually sort of a little bit have a tiny crush on her.

"Oh. Okay. I think. But what do they want with me? And what was that with Fred?"

"Let's just go to sleep, I'm tired." Said Tyler, and they parted ways to the boys and girls dorm.

"Hey, Tyler, I owe you one." Whispered Albus, before jumping in his bed.

***

The next morning the three were almost completely calmed down, and Albus picked up the diary-page and folded it so he could read it later.

As it was a Saturday, they would be spending a lot of time in the library and at the Quidditch pitch.

Once the three were in the library, in the corner they usually sat, Albus unfolded the page, and read it - with Tyler and Quinn reading over his shoulder.

30th October, 1981

James and I are still hiding. It is quite boring sometimes, but then again, we have Harry. Sometimes I read through old diaries of mine, and I came across the page of 30 January, 1973, my thirteenth birthday. On that day, I spent a lot of time with Severus, who was very sweet to me. At the end of the day, in fact, he kissed me on my lips. Of course, I was taken by surprise, but it was nice. Maybe a little awkward, but nice. We never spoke about it, and I think that's a good thing, for it would've been very awkward if we had. Furthermore, James will write Sirius to swap secret keepers again, and that because if Peter is being asked by You-Know-Who, he will give in. I don't know when he will write the letter, but he will. -Lily

Albus sat there, staring at the paper. He had to show this to Severus.

"We have to go to Severus." Said Albus, and he jumped up. He ran through the halls and corridors, followed by Quinn and Tyler. They arrived at the bar painting, where he usually saw Severus, but the lady with the red hair sat there. His grandmother.

"Hello." Said Albus, and she looked at him.

"Hello, Albus. What is that you've got there?" She asked, and Albus sighed.

"It's a page of your diary. We went into your house. I'm sorry.. were you really pregnant when you died?" Asked Albus, and Lily nodded. "If James' letter was finished earlier, would you have lived?"

Lily shrugged. "Maybe Peter told You-Know-Who earlier, so perhaps not."

"Why didn't you choose to become ghosts?"

"Harry will come to us when the time is right. We had to go for his sake."

"Are dead parents - or grandparents - always so deep?" Said Albus, before adding: "Did you enjoy Severus' kiss?"

Lily didn't immediately answer. Clearly she was overthinking her answer. "I- I did. At that time, I thought he was my only true friend. I actually loved him. I cared about him, and if anything was going to happen to him I would've been so sad. But I didn't love him like he loved me. I loved him as a friend. When he kissed me, I felt empty. I liked the kiss, it was my first.. I don't really know exactly."

"Can you tell this Wormtail to bugger off? I mean, he's dead and you're dead too, maybe you can tell him." Lily smiled weakly.

"Sure can, Albus Severus." Albus sighed, then realised that Quinn and Tyler were also there.

"Al, let's go, I have Quidditch practice now." Said Quinn, and Albus followed her.

When they were watching practice as usual, Tyler and Albus spoke about a lot.

"Hey Tyler." Said a voice from behind them suddenly.

"Hey Mary." Said Tyler, to Mary Billiard, a Ravenclaw girl from their year.

"Have you heard it yet? There's going to be a Christmas ball. I heard it from Nicole. You know Nicole, right? Apparently you all have to dress up nice and everything, and you have to bring a date. I think the headmaster will tell us about it at dinner tonight." She said.

"Cool. Hey, um, I don't want to be mean, not at all, but this is the Gryffindor practice, so if you would like to leave..." said Tyler, and Mary nodded.

"Of course." She said, and left the stand.

"Okay, Tyler, why so mean?" Asked Albus, and Tyler shrugged.

***

Mary had been right. That evening the headmaster told the school.

"Before you all delight yourselves with food, I want to say a few words. Since Christmas is approaching, we will be hosting a ball here. It is for all years, so even the first-years are allowed to come. The theme is Winter Wonderland, and you can buy or rent your dresses and suits in Hogsmeade. For the first- and second- years, you can choose a dress from the catalogues in the library, and give your choice and the money to Mrs Pince, who will get you your dress and formal male clothing. Bring a date!"

The hall had erupted in whispers.

"Also, the next Hogsmeade weekend is herefore rescheduled to next week. Thank you."

Then, dinner could start.

***

The next week everyone left to Hogsmeade, and Quinn was invited to join Rose and Felicia, which she had gladly accepted. Albus and Tyler were picking their suits when a large group of girls passed.

"Hey Tyler, who are you going with?" Asked Mary, who stood among the crowd.

"No one yet." Said Tyler, and the group giggled.

"And you, Albus?" Asked Cordelia, and Albus shook his head.

"No one yet either." The group giggled again, then moved to the dresses.

"Why don't you just ask her?" Asked Tyler, and Albus looked at him.

"What do you mean?"

"Quinn. I know you like her."

Albus ignored him, and picked a suit he liked and went to pay for it. The ball was in three weeks, so Albus figured he'd have all the time to ask her.

When the two left to go back to the castle after visiting Honeydukes they ran into Rose, Quinn and Felicia.

"Hey guys. Have you got your dates yet?" Asked Rose, but Albus and Tyler shook their heads.

"Who are you going with?" Asked Albus, and Rose shrugged.

"A boy from Arithmancy." She said, and Albus raised his eyebrow.

Quinn spoke up. "I'm going with Fred. He asked me yesterday, and I said I'd go."

Albus felt as if an elephant jumped on his chest. He had hoped to take Quinn.

"I don't have anyone yet either." Said Felicia, and the five - Felicia, Quinn, Rose, Albus and Tyler - left to go to the Three Broomsticks to get a butterbeer.

Albus said he would get the butterbeers, and Felicia joined him.

"Hey Al, who are you going to ask?" She asked, and Albus shrugged.

"So you didn't already have someone in mind?" She asked, her voice sounding as though hope was draining from it.

"Well, I hadn't had someone in mind, but you didn't have a date either, right?" Asked Albus, deciding he couldn't take Quinn but would need a date. Felicia shook her head. "Would you like to go with me?" He asked, and Felicia nodded.

"I'd love to." She said, and they took the butterbeers to where they were sitting.

Okay, so my writer's block isn't entirely gone but with this ball I have more ideas. To keep this up I will post the next chapter at the last on my birthday: 18th of April. If it comes earlier then you're in luck :) so I will see y'all then.
