Chapter 3: Back to Hogwarts
When Albus woke up he noticed Tyler was still asleep, so he left and went downstairs.
There he saw his Aunt, Hermione. She was reading.
"Morning." Said Albus, and Hermione looked up.
"Hi there" she said, and then she patted on the spot next to her on the couch. "Come sit." Albus obliged.
"What is it?" He asked, and she shrugged.
"I just want you to tell me the stories of school. All the cousins brag and talk. Except you." Albus shrugged.
"I'm just not so interesting." He murmured.
"Of course you are! When you were in first year, you, Rose, Quinn, Tyler and Draco's son had an adventure for this Cloak thingy."
"Yeah. Well. We're not friends with Scorpius anymore." Hermione looked at him.
"Why not?"
"He was being mean and called Quinn a mudblood. Also, he is friends with Ervin."
"Who was Ervin again?" She asked, continuing to read.
"The meanest Slytherin ever." Answered Albus.
"Ah. Albus, I don't think you should have enemies. Be nice. Maybe he just needs friends in Slytherin to feel confident."
"I know.." Albus said, and he smiled. "Then again, we'll go to Hogwarts for another year again. I'm excited."
"I know you are, you always are. Can you keep an eye on Lily for your mother? She's afraid Lily will do things she might regret."
"Sure." Albus got up to see if Tyler was awake yet.
"Oh and Al? Don't break all the rules." Albus nodded and walked to his room.
***
Albus picked up his trunk and threw it in the Weasley bus. Today they were going to Hogwarts again. Hannah, Neville and Violet had returned to the Leaky Cauldron, and Neville would go to Hogwarts later. Every first week they would have no Herbology because of that. Fred and James were planning things for the Quidditch team already, and Rose was learning her books. She said that because the N.E.W.T.S. were next year, they had to learn. Just like the O.W.L.'s. Albus had really good grades on most, his highest were two Outstandings for Potions and Charms. Rose had only Outstandings, and Tyler had enough Exceeds Expectations. Quinn had many Exceeds Expectations, and one Outstanding for Defence Against the Dark Arts.
Albus sat down in the bus, waiting for Quinn and Tyler. They - and all the other Weasleys came to the car too.
"I'm so excited to go!" Exclaimed Lily, as she entered the car. She sat down next to Dominique and Roxanne, and they started talking about boys. Albus turned to Tyler and Quinn and started talking with them.
***
"Platform 9 3/4 it is!" Said Lily, as she ran through the wall. Next were the three.
Albus kissed his parents goodbye and then ran through the barrier to meet the train.
***
Albus, Quinn, Tyler and Rose sat in the compartment, when a blond girl appeared.
"Hi there Tyler!" She said, and Tyler got up to kiss, snog** his girlfriend.
"Which subjects are you guys going to take?" Asked Albus, not wanting to see the snogging.
Rose counted on her fingers. "I'm going to do: Herbology, DADA, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Transfiguration, Magical Theory, Ancient Runes, Astronomy and Ancient Studies."
Quinn had counted. "That's 10 subjects! That's alot! I'm doing: DADA, Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology and Astronomy. That's 6!"
"Oh right, I do 11, forgot Arithmancy."
"I'm going to do DADA, Charms, Potions, Herbology, Transfiguration, Magical Theory and Astronomy. That's 7."
Tyler came back in, Cordelia with him.
"I take DADA, Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology and Music."
Quinn laughed. "Music? You take music? You're the cool guy, why'd you take Music?"
Tyler laughed. "No idea. Cordelia takes the same subjects as me. Don't you, dearest?" They snogged again.
Then, a boy appeared at the door. He looked 13 years old and he smiled vaguely. He unrolled a parchment and read: "Err- Rose Weasley, Quinn Rivers, Tyler Wood, Albus Potter? Professor Slughorn wishes to see you in compartment 24 in half an hour."
Albus nodded, then he looked at Tyler and Cordelia. Cordelia had curled up against Tyler, and they were practically eating each others faces. Albus thought it looked disgusting, as he couldn't tell whose hands were where, and he didn't think he'd want to know.
He coughed and looked to Quinn, who was gazing at them too. Albus swore he saw jealousy in her eyes. A pang of anger touched him then too.
"I-err, I have to go." Said Rose suddenly, and she jumped up. She hurried out of the compartment.
Albus, not wanting to see Tyler and Cordelia snog anymore, moved out too. Quinn followed him out.
"It's disgusting." Said Albus, and Quinn nodded.
"Do you think they have done it yet?" She asked.
"What?" Asked Albus.
"It." Said Quinn, though Albus still had to think.
"Err?"
"God, Albus, you are so innocent!"
"Oh! It!" Exclaimed Albus, and Quinn nodded. They then bursted out into a laugh.
"I'll be right back. No, I'll see you in compartment 24." Said Quinn, and she walked to the girls' bathroom.
Albus hurried to the compartment, when he ran into a girl with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes.
"Hi..." she said, and Albus blinked.
"Hi." He said.
"I'm Felicia Bennett. Sixth year." She said.
"Really? I didn't recognise you, I'm Albus, sixth year too."
"Well, I'm new. I was homeschooled, but now I'm here." She said, and Albus nodded.
"Well, I'll help you through your first weeks. Do you have a house yet?" She shook her head.
"No. But my parents were Slytherins. At least, my stepdad and mother."
"What happened to your father?" Asked Albus, and Felicia looked solemn.
"He got my tw- he left." She said, making Albus curious. Then again, he didn't want to be rude.
"Hey, I should go to compartment 24, want to come?" He said, and she nodded.
***
When they entered the compartment, Quinn and Tyler already were there. Slughorn looked at Felicia curious, as did the others.
"Albus m'boy, who'd you bring?" He asked.
"Felicia Bennett, sir, she's new, and I thought it would be okay if she came with me."
Slughorn nodded. "Any friend of yours is a friend of mine, come sit." The two sat down as Slughorn conjured a new chair. Albus looked around to see who were here. Scorpius, Rose, Tyler, Quinn, Ervin, a few Ravenclaws and some Hufflepuffs. Also Ervins girlfriend, Jade Conover.
As Albus looked at Ervin he noticed that he was looking at Felicia rather angry. Albus looked over to Felicia, and she looked at Ervin angry too. Albus couldn't help but wonder if they knew each other.
Slughorn named everyone, and then he told them why they were there."Welcome to the Slug Club, for sixth years. I've got some drinks over there so you can talk a bit, okay?" He got up to get a Firewhiskey.
"Felicia? Would you like something to drink?" Asked Albus, and she nodded.
"Butterbeer, please." She said, and Albus went to get drinks.
"You friends with the new girl?" Asked Quinn, and Albus shrugged.
"There's something going on between her and Ervin, and I want to know what it is." He answered, pouring butterbeer in a glass.
"Please don't leave me with the love birds too long, though." Said Quinn, inquiring to Tyler and Cordelia, who'd entered. They were snogging again.
"Albus! Albus m'boy!"
"Yes Professor?" Said Albus to Slughorn, who had joined them.
"I had a look at your OWL's and saw you had an Outstanding for Potions and Charms. I'd like you to help me with first years. Would you like that for either extra credit or some galleons or something?"
"Sir, I'd do it for free!" Said Albus, and then he took the butterbeers and walked to Felicia. Quinn followed.
"Hey!" Said Felicia, and Albus handed her a butterbeer.
"So, do you have a house yet?" Asked Quinn, and Felicia nodded shook her head.
"But my mom and stepdad are Slytherins."
Quinn looked surprised at Albus. Apparently she didn't expect that.
"Which house would you like to be in?" Said Albus.
"Either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw." She said, and Albus nodded.
***
A few hours later they were still there.
"Hey Quinn, shouldn't we get changed?" Said Albus.
"Oh. Right. Let's go to our compartment. Coming too Felice?"
"It's Felicia." She said. Quinn shrugged and they wanted to leave the compartment when Slughorn came over.
"Albus! Miss Rivers! Miss Benny! Where do you think you're going?" He exclaimed.
"It's Bennett, sir." Said Felicia politely.
"Oh, of course. I'm getting old. Could die everyday, eh?" He joked. Albus didn't find it funny.
"Sir, we were about to go to our compartment so we can get ready as we will arrive in half an hour." Said Albus, and they left the compartment. Tyler noticed and followed them.
***
"Firs' years!" Yelled Hagrid, but Albus and the others went to the carriages.
"Miss Bennett! Miss Bennett!" McGonnagall came over. "I need to speak to you."
They stopped.
"I'd like to sort you after the first years, alright?"
Felicia nodded. Albus spoke to Quinn and Tyler about the classes they would be sharing, when she returned.
"So we'll have quite a few classes together, right? That's fun!" Said Tyler.
Before they could enter their carriage Cordelia came over and jumped in.
To Albus' surprise, Tyler sighed and closed his eyes for a second. He entered the carriage as Cordelia kissed him. He kissed her.
Albus entered the carriage and sat next to Quinn. They - Albus, Quinn and Felicia - spoke about families. Felicia didn't say much about hers, except that she and her 'parents' lived in a mansion a bit outside of London.
"So, Albus, how's your family?" Asked Felicia.
"Well, it's a mess, most of the time. I can tell you the basics. My older brother James is alway with my cousin Fred, and they are always pranking. Then there's me, then there's Lily, my little sister who is being liked by everyone, and my mum's afraid she's going to do things she'll regret. Oh, my mother, she's amazing. And my dad is the best. You'd think being Harry Potter would make him arrogant, but he kind of swats that Rita Skeeter woman away, and- Felicia? Are you alright?"
Felicia was coughing and choking after Albus said 'Harry Potter'.
"Yes. Cough. Your- cough - Father is Harry Potter?"
"Yeah." said Albus casually.
"That's so cool! I heard all about him, he's the one that stabbed You-Know-Who!" she exclaimed.
"He didn't stab him, and his name is Voldemort."
She shivered at the sound of his name, and Albus rose his eyebrow.
"Nothing." She said, "j-just cold."
The rest of the way she stared out of the carriage.
***
When they arrived Tyler got off first, and Cordelia followed him. Then Albus got off and helped Quinn off. Felicia followed them.
"And then, Aunt Hermione got so angry that she smacked him across the face." Finished Albus, who was telling a story of Uncle Ron's.
"Wow. My stupid Muggle parents are so boring. Mum's always designing planes and dad's never home, being a pilot. Besides, they can hardly afford Hogwarts, and they say if I don't get all Outstandings this year they'll.. they'll.." she started to cry.
Albus pulled her in a hug. His entire body was on fire, but he wanted to comfort her. He just hoped she would feel alright.
"They'll take me from school..." she cried, and Albus kept hugging her.
"Shush. They won't." He said, and Felicia was looking at them.
"But- what if they do!"
"McGonagall won't let them." Said Albus, even though he wasn't sure.
She let go of him and they walked to the castle. Felicia followed them.
As they entered the Great Hall Felicia gasped. Quinn nudged her with the elbow. She was drawing looks.
Felicia stood at the beginning of the door, waiting to be sorted.
"Albus, I don't quite trust her. She seems, different." Said Quinn, and Albus shrugged.
"We should help her for a week at least if she becomes a Gryffindor."
"You're right." She said, and she sat down at the table, between Albus and Tyler, who was talking with Cordelia.
"Cordelia, we don't talk much, we only kiss!" Said Tyler.
"But don't you feel how magical our kisses are? They're exploding with fireworks."
Albus thought it was an exaggerated explanation, but he didn't say anything of it. Not that he would know, he had never kissed anyone. When he was about three he had a 'girlfriend' he met at the playground, but that was about it.
"I do, but I hardly know you!" Albus knew he lied about the kiss. And apparently Cordelia too, as she slapped him. Everyone was now watching them.
"You're lying! You don't feel the fireworks. Do you even love me? We're done." She jumped up from the Gryffindor table and her Hufflepuff friends followed her.
Tyler sighed.
The enormous gate opened, and McGonagall walked out, followed by a whole lot of first-years. This time Albus knew none.
They all stood close to the stool. It started to sing.
Eleven is for your age,
Now you will not live in a cage!
Ten, for a high grade if you weren't here!
Here it will be O's you steer!
Nine, an upside six,
At Hogwarts you will learn much tricks!
Eight, for when you fail a year at Hogwarts,
I'm going to sort you to the wish of hearts!
Seven floors, seven years,
Don't cry, no shedding of tears!
Six, an upside nine,
You are too young for wine!
(Not for Butterbeer, though)
Five, fingers on one hand,
In front of me is where you stand!
Four, houses I can sort you in!
And I will, and the house cup you win!
Three, Is the time I usually need,
To sort you, let me do the deed!
Two, for the eyes you have,
Are you smart, kind, cunning or brave?
One, is there of you!
Don't worry, everyone has been new!
The Hall erupted in applause.
McGonagall stepped forwards.
"When I call your name, you will come forward, and be sorted in your house. Alleign, Joanna!"
A tall girl stepped forward, she was sorted in Slytherin.
Albus moved his gaze to the Slytherin table, and he looked at Scorpius. He was staring his way. He followed his gaze. It landed at Rose. Then he looked back to Scorpius. He didn't look very happy. Sad, more.
After all the first-years were sorted, it was Felicia's turn.
"Bennett, Felicia" said McGonagall, and Felicia took the hat. It didn't block her view. It took longer than Albus expected for her to be sorted.
"GRYFFINDOR!" it exclaimed. Albus felt Quinn's arm tense up, and he looked at her. She looked angry.
Albus greeted Felicia, and she sat next to Rose.
The two immediately started an animated conversation, until the headmaster held his speech. He looked worried.
"Another year at Hogwarts. I want to welcome new and old students, and I hope you will enjoy yet another year. Furthermore the usual announcement, no magic in the corridors..."
Albus looked over to the Hufflepuff table, and saw Cordelia sitting there. Albus wondered why Tyler didn't try to get her back.
***
After they had had dinner they left to the dormitories. Albus tried to hurry, as he was very tired, but Professor Slughorn stopped him.
"Albus, I wondered if I could have a word with you?"
Albus nodded and followed him to his office.
"What do you have first hour tomorrow?"
"Nothing, sir."
"Would you like to help me with the Potions class? I want to do a presentation, but you are the best of all."
"I'd love to!"
Professor Slughorn thanked him and let Albus leave. He hurried to his dorm.
Tired as he was, he fell asleep quickly.
