Chapter 19: The Muggle Returns

Albus hadn't slept that night. With the happenings of the past two days, he kept worrying. So, when Albus got up the next day, he was very tired. He sat up in his bed, and looked at the clock on his nightstand. It was still rather early. Albus got up and left the dorm, desperate to find his father to finish what they started at Malfoy Manor. He ran through the halls, quickly passing people, knowing his dad would either be in the DADA classroom or already in the Great Hall. And right he was, as his father was pacing through the classroom.

"Dad?" He asked, and Harry looked at him.

He smiled weakly. "Albus, I thought about Rose's idea, and we could do it. But it might be too suspicious if I suddenly let you guys disarm me, but we'll think about it, okay?" Albus nodded.

"Dad, are Quinn's parents going to live?" Harry shook his head, making Albus' eyes tear up. "Are they-"

"Yes, Albus. They passed away this night, without waking up. Quinn will be in the hospital for at least a day to recover a bit. Actually, I wanted to talk to you about that. You see, Quinn has been your best friend for quite some time now, and I was thinking of perhaps offering her to stay with us." He said, and Albus smiled.

"That would be a great idea, dad."

Harry smiled. "I just know how it feels to be an orphan, in a place where no one likes you, and thought, she's nearly of age, but will need a place to call home until then." He said, making Albus smile even more.

"I love you, dad, you are amazing."

Harry chuckled. "I'm a bit of a tosser, really." he said, but Albus shook his head.

"You are the bravest man I ever met." Albus said, and he hugged him. He couldn't see the tears in his father's eyes, but they were there. Albus left the classroom again, and he then he searched for Tyler. He too, was exactly where Albus expected him to be - with Luke back in the common room. They were quietly talking. Albus looked out the window and saw a girl with brown hair running into the forest, and he recognized her. It was the Muggle.

He ran out of the common room and down the moving staircases outside and entered the forest.

It was still quite gloomy outside, and the Forbidden Forest always was even darker. Albus saw a glimpse of brown and ran after it. He ran a long way, and suddenly stopped.

He had come across a large clearing. In the middle was a tent, and the girl stood next to it, facing Albus.

"What are you doing here, A Muggle?" she asked.

"I came to ask you the same question." Albus said, and the girl chuckled.

"I camp here, duh." she said, but Albus shook his head.

"That's not what I meant. Why are you here, like, in the Forbidden Forest?"

She chuckled. "Forbidden Forest?" she repeated. "Why is it forbidden?"

"Because of the- the- the..." Albus said, finding it hard this girl was a muggle, so he couldn't tell her it was because of all the creatures that lived here. Then it hit him. "Because of the chance of getting lost." He said, and the girl laughed.

She approached him, and Albus placed his hand around his wand in his pocket. "I don't get lost, you see, I don't have a home, child services are hunting me, and I really don't give a shit." She said, and Albus looked at her.

"But your parents."

She smiled. "I ran away. They were acting all bullshitty on me." she said, shrugging.

"So, there is no specific reason you stay here? Are there other people in the forest?" he asked.

She nodded. "There's this one guy who helps me with food sometimes, he's got like really red hair." Albus' eyes widened.

"Fred."

She shrugged. "Could be. But hey, why don't you go back to where you live, A Muggle, and then I'll just stay here, okay?"

Albus nodded. "My name's Albus, by the way." He said, before walking off.

When Albus arrived back at the castle, which took him quite some time, as he had went very deep into the forest, there were many people awake already. Albus entered the Great Hall, and sat next to Rose, who was talking to Tyler and Luke.

"Hi Al," she said. "Have you spoken to your dad yet?"

Albus nodded. "Yeah, he said he has to think about it. Your plan. He's afraid it won't work. That there will be something we overlook."

Rose nodded slowly. "Yeah. You guys, we'll have to think of something today, we've only got two weeks to get this done. We need to make sure the Elder Wand's alliances won't get to the Death Eaters."

Tyler nodded. "But can we do that tomorrow, I have a Charms test today, and if I fail I might have to re-do Sixth Year." he said. Rose rolled her eyes.

"Do your test, and help us after, okay?" she said, and Tyler nodded. "I'll go talk to Harry now." Rose said, and she got up. On the other side of the Great Hall, where the Slytherins sat, Scorpius got up too, and ran after Rose.

Albus turned to Fred, who was talking to James about a prank.

"Fred, I need to talk to you." Fred looked over to Albus and Albus saw the fear in his eyes. Both got up and left the Great Hall, hurrying to a spot they could talk. When they could, Albus quickly spoke. "There are 2 things, actually. First things first, Quinn's parents didn't survive it. They didn't even wake from the coma. Quinn is probably devastated and will return tomorrow, she needs a moment." He said, and Fred ran his hand through his hair, looking worried. "Second thing, why are you bringing food to a Muggle in the forest." he said. Fred looked at him, his eyes wide.

"How did you-"

Albus rolled his eyes. "I saw you running into the forest, you're not really good at hiding things, plus, she told me."

"Can you keep it a secret, It's no big deal." He said, and Albus nodded. "Hey, um, I'm going back to the Great Hall, see you." He said, and walked off.

Albus sighed, and made way to the greenhouses for Herbology. It was raining outside, as usual, and when he arrived he was soaked.

The lesson was not very interesting. They just had to take note of what Professor Longbottom told them. "The Snargaluff is a plant with the appearance of a gnarled stump, but hides dangerous thorn-covered vines that attack when provoked and is usually best handled by more than one person. It contains green pulsating pods about the size of grapefruit which can be extracted. Now, I have one right here, and I want you to watch me take out the grapefruit carefully because it is very hard and not everyone succeeds at first try, which will be next lesson." she said, and Albus found it extremely boring. It was no help that they shared a lot of lessons with the Slytherins, and Albus soon realized that without Quinn around he was quite lonely. Rose was always with Scorpius, and Luke always with Tyler.

After class Rose and Scorpius seemed to be in a hurry, and Albus followed them, not in the mood for Tyler and Luke's cheesy conversations that are way too 'cute' as girls would say. He honestly found the word 'cute' a bit annoying, as most of the time a girl would say it, there was absolutely nothing cute about it. He therefore was glad Quinn didn't say it very often. Felicia did, and perhaps that was why Albus didn't like it anymore. Rose and Scorpius went to the library, where they sat down and took out some books. They were chatting quietly, and Albus sat down close to where they were sitting, before taking out his own DADA homework. They had to learn about Dementors, and Albus found it interesting.

A Dementor's face consists of empty eye sockets, covered with scabby skin. There is also a gaping large hole where the mouth should be, which is used for sucking the soul out of the victim in a process called the Dementor's Kiss, leaving victims in a state generally considered worse than death. The Dementor pulls back its hood and sucks out his or her soul, leaving the person an empty shell, alive but completely, irretrievably 'gone'. Unlike other creatures, who move through some means of physical support, Dementors are able to fly freely.

Albus was concentrated on the text he had to read when in the corner of his eye, he saw that Rose and Scorpius had moved closer to each other. Scorpius whispered something, and, to Albus' great surprise, took Rose's head and kissed her. Albus, as many knew, was very bad in hiding that he was surprised, and usually gasped. He did. Rose and Scorpius looked at him. Scorpius bit his lip, possibly awkward by the fact he kissed Rose with her cousin watching and afraid that Albus might scold him, and Rose jumped up, walked to the table Albus sat, and spoke.

"Please Albus, I'm begging you. Can you please not tell my dad. Scorpius is a Malfoy, and you know, in the beginning of Hogwarts, on the train station, he said: 'Don't get too friendly with him though, Granddad Weasley would never forgive you if you married a pure-blood'. But the one who disapproves of Scorpius is himself, and I don't plan on marrying him but the thing is, if dad finds out I'm in trouble." She said, and Albus nodded.

"I won't. I'm not like Lily. I do have to tell you guys something. You know about the attack and that Quinn's parents went to St Mungo's?" the two nodded. "Well, they didn't survive." he said, before looking at the large clock. "Oh, um, we have to go, we have DADA in two minutes and it's at the other side of the castle, and dad is probably not happy if we're late." He said, and he pulled Rose with him. The two left Scorpius in the library and ran through the halls.

They made it to the classroom just in time, and entered the classroom.

His dad stood next to the desk with parchment in his hands. "Alright, I think we have everyone, Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors. So, today you will be making the test that will be a third of the grade that will say whether or not you can go to seventh year. So, good luck." Harry said, and he handed out the parchment.

Albus looked at the parchment and knew the first question immediately.

1. What do you do to repel a Dementor?

He answered the questions quickly, from 5. What does the incantation mean in English? to 18. How does a Dementor move.

Albus looked over to Rose, who had finished her test first, but saw she had left a few questions open, which was a surprise to him. She looked nervous, and Albus realized every time she went to the library to 'study' with Scorpius they were just chatting and having fun. She seemed to feel the gaze, and looked to Albus. She moved her gaze to the ground.

"Alright, time's up, move your tests to the front, the questions and answers seperately." Harry said, and they did as they were told. After he had picked up all stacks the class was dismissed. "Albus, Quinn is back. She's in McGonagall's office." He said, and Albus smiled, before pushing people aside to get to McGonagall's office.

Hey!

So, Quinn's parents didn't survive... But, Quinn gets to live with the Potters if she wants, so that's a good thing. Now the next problem they have to face is the problem with the Elder Wand. Now, I know that in the movie Harry snaps it and throws it down the bridge, but in the books the Elder wand remains after Harry repairs his own wand. That aside, thank you for reading this and I can tell you, I don't have a writer's block anymore and I have ideas up until chapter 40! Keep commenting with ideas though, I would love to have some new ideas I couldn't come up with.

Love, as always,

Florence (eating cotton candy from a plastic cup from her fifteenth birthday party)
