Chapter 9: The Second Match
Quinn was very happy with her Firebolt Supreme, and so were Fred and James. James had yelled at Albus for not giving him the Firebolt, but Albus said he wasn’t his friend, and James was happy in the end too.
Every Saturday he was allowed to watch the trainings with Tyler, and Tyler became Chris’ stand-in. Quinn was very good with her broom, and the team had decided to keep secret that she had one, but as it was a secret, the entire school knew.
The Slytherin team (Which Ervin had joined as a Beater) had tried to disqualify her for having a too powerful broom, but she was allowed to keep it and her spot anyway.
During their final practice before having a match against Slytherin Albus was watching.
“She’s really good, isn’t she?” said Tyler, who was sitting next to Albus.
Rose was sitting with them too, as Albus had kept his promise to his father and was keeping her as his friend. “She really is. Hey guys, I want to go to Severus after the training.”
Rose looked at him. “Who?”
Albus laughed. “Well, Tyler, Quinn and I have visited my namesake’s painting often.”
She smiled. “Is he nice?”
Albus nodded, “Very. He told me about our parents’ adventures at Hogwarts.”
Then he remembered his Christmas present of the book about Hogwarts.
“Okay Quinn, if you do this during the match we’ll win, but I heard that Ervin Jones, the Beater from Slytherin’s team has a Firebolt Supreme now too, so that’s quite a threat, because he’ll probably hit you first, then Chris, then James” said Emily when they were finished.
Albus, Tyler and Rose came onto the Quidditch pitch and Rose said: “Good luck guys, make Gryffindor proud.”
***
Albus sat on his bed that afternoon, with the book on his lap. He was reading in the chapter about Strange Rooms and Corridors when Tyler asked: “What is it you’re reading?”
Albus showed him the book, and Tyler said: “Can you find the bathroom room?”
Albus read through it. “No, but I’ve found a room that would do the same thing.. The Room of Requirement.” Tyler looked at it. “The Room of Requirement is always equipped with the seeker’s need. So if you really needed a toilet, it would appear as a toilet.” Said Albus.
Tyler thought and then he said: “Let’s try it out”
Albus agreed, and he took out the cloak again.
"Let’s get Rose and Quinn.” He whispered, and they opened the door towards the girl dormitories, and they went up the stairs when it rumbled and turned into a slide.
They came back down when Rose, Quinn and two other girl first-years, Anna and Sofia appeared at the top of the slide, laughing.
“What the bloody hell was that?” asked Tyler, when Quinn and Rose came down too.
“This is a slide so boys don’t enter girl dorms, now be quiet, everyone’s asleep” said Rose matter-of-factly.
“I say we go out. To a room in a book I got for Christmas.” Rose didn’t stop them but followed them, and they went to the place where they found the room.
“Okay ehhh.. It opens for the seeker’s need, so…”
They all thought about it and Rose said: “We need a place to read.”
The rumbling came, and Albus smiled at Rose. She smiled back. The door appeared and Rose opened it, followed by Albus, Tyler and Quinn.
“Wow..” Rose said, and for a good reason, because they arrived in a huge library-like place with books in shelves up to five metres high.
“I could live here.” whispered Rose, and Quinn said: “I wonder if they also have books that are not five thousand pages” while she was looking at a really thick book.
“Rose? Do you want to try something else, or?” said Tyler to Rose, who already had taken out a book and started to read it.
“Sure.” She said, stuffing it under her arm.
After Albus’ look she said: “I want to keep it!”
They left the room again and this time Quinn said: “We need a place to eat?”
Nothing happened.
“Food can’t be transfigured Quinn. That’s the –” Said Rose, and Quinn nodded.
“Oh, right.. Err... You go, Tyler.”
Tyler smiled at her and said: “I’m hungry. Can’t we go to the kitchens?”
Albus looked at Rose. “Are you okay with visiting the house-elves? I still have a present for Winky and Micky.” Rose thought about it, and shrugged.
“’s Fine”
Albus smiled at her.
***
“Winky! Micky!” Albus yelled, when they opened the door to the kitchens.
“Is it Harry Potter?” he heard Winky squealing, and Albus saw the two running up at them.
“Hello! Who are you?” Micky asked, looking at Rose.
“Rose. Rose Weasley.” She said, and smiled at the house elves.
“I got you two a Christmas present.” Said Albus, and pulled out the jumpers, newly wrapped.
“Oh, thank you, thank you!” said Winky, when she took the jumper out of his hands.
“What is it?” asked Micky, and Albus said: “Just open it.”
Micky and Winky quickly pulled off the wrappings and Micky gasped.
“Is it? Is it for me?” he held up the jumper and pulled it on.
“Thank you.” Said Winky, while putting on hers.
“It’s beautiful.” Said Micky, and he jumped up to Albus to hug him. Winky did the same.
“Do you want any tea? Cookies? Anything?” asked Winky, and Quinn said: “Do you have Butterbeer?”
She nodded, and ran off, still stroking her red woollen jumper. Micky was jumping around happily with his green one.
“They look really happy Al.” said Rose, and Albus smiled.
“I knew they would.” They ate some sweets while drinking Butterbeer before going back to the common room.

“You were right all along Al, the house elves aren’t bad at all.” Said Rose, while they were sitting at the fire.
“Ugh. We have so much homework” moaned Tyler, while smashing his head on the table.
“I can help you plan, then you don’t have to do it every Saturday.” Said Rose, and Tyler looked at her.
“How?”
Rose grabbed a piece of parchment and her quill and started making boxes per day.
“Thanks already Rose.” She smiled at him and continued.
Victoire came in, and she yelled the usual. “DINNER IS READY!” and left again. The four hurried down and enjoyed dinner.
***
“Quinn.” Said Fred during the dessert.
“You have to sleep early tonight, because tomorrow’s match is very important, okay?” she nodded, her mouth full of ice cream. “Alright.” He said, and went to join James again.
“Guys, I need to tell you something.” Said Rose, and Albus looked at her.
“What is it? Did someone die?” No Albus, no. It’s something I read about. I think you’d like to know.” She said, and Albus sighed relieved.
“Tell us tonight.” He muttered, and they went back to the Gryffindor common room.
***
“So, what is it?” whispered Tyler, after everyone had gone to bed.
“I can’t tell you guys here. I don’t want anyone to hear.” Said Rose.
Albus said: “We’ll go to the Room of Requirement, okay?” she nodded.
“I’ll go to sleep, okay? I have to be energetic tomorrow. Quidditch.” said Quinn, and she left.
The three nodded and hurried through the portrait hole with the Cloak of Invisibility.
“We need a place to talk in private.” Said Rose, and the door appeared. They entered and came into a cosy room and sat down.
“What is it.” Said Tyler.
“You guys know I took a book from here, right?” they nodded. “Well, I found out it was a diary.” Albus and Tyler looked at each other. “The diary from Rowena Ravenclaw.” She said, and the two gasped.
“the Rowena Ravenclaw?”
Rose rolled her eyes and said: “No, her dog. Of course the Ravenclaw! But that’s not the point!"
Albus looked at her and said: “Go on..” She looked at them and said: “I found out about something no-one knows, her first husband.”
Albus gasped. “Who?” he asked.
“Roland. I don’t know his last name. But his name was Roland. Ravenclaw’s writing isn’t very neat, it’s rather old wizard English, but yeah. Roland.” She took out the battered book. “You can read this:” she said, pointing at the text. Albus took the book and read it.
Roland has taken me out for a meal again. I was very honoured to be with such a witty, smart man, and he wasn’t a loyal for nothing. It was us going into that wizard’s ancient tavern, and he showed me with a package. I had taken it from him, for I was in love. We were not in yet, so I had opened it and saw the blue with yellow stars
Then there was this large ink blob which made it unreadable. The next he could read was:
I felt insulted and hit him with the best spells I knew, pure anger. Well, the red had been there for day so I canted stop to and I killed him. I made a charm to make sure not a soul would know about him anymore except the diary.
“She killed her first husband? What’s the red? That’s quite unfortunate..” said Tyler, and Rose laughed.
“I’m not sure what the red is, but if it is what I think it is it’s pretty damn weird she put it in her diary.”
Albus looked puzzled. “What’s under the ink blob?”
Rose shrugged. “I don’t know. Perhaps the blue and yellow thing?”
Albus thought about it. “I want to know what it is. Let’s ask this room for the reading place again, then there might be more. You found this diary there?”
Rose nodded, but Tyler said: “Shouldn’t we do that with Quinn?”
Albus nodded. “I’m tired anyway.”
***
The next morning Albus, Tyler and Rose went down to the Quidditch stands, where Quinn probably was with her team. Albus looked around to the people.
He saw Scorpius, sitting in an empty stand. Albus went towards him, as his friends weren’t there, and Rose and Tyler followed him.
“Do you mind?” asked Albus, and Scorpius shrugged.
“Where are your friends, erm.. forgot their names, sorry.” Scorpius shrugged, and Albus placed himself next to him.
“Aren’t you friends?” Scorpius shook his head.
“But, you were?” said Rose, and Scorpius nodded.
“You don’t talk much, do you?” said Tyler, and he shrugged again.
“That’s alright, you can join us today.” Said Rose, smiling.
Albus agreed with her: “Yeah. Had a nice Christmas?” he continued, to make him talk. He shrugged.
“Erm.. I-eh.. Are you feeling well?” said Tyler, and the boy shrugged again.
“Do you need to go to Madam Pomfrey?” said Albus, and Scorpius shook his head.
They turned to the match where Madam Hooch was about to throw the Quaffle in.
“Good luck!” she yelled, and threw it up, and Quinn caught it immediately, racing to the goals. Ervin was following her closely.
When they were coming closer to the stand where Albus sat, Scorpius moved weird and breathed heavily. He suddenly bend forward over the edge of the stand and threw up.
“Are you alright?” asked Albus, patting his back, and Scorpius just threw up.
The puke, however (which Albus found funny), didn’t land on the ground but on Ervin, who yelled madly.
“It seems that Jones, Beater, has caught some puke instead of Quinn.” Said Frederique Jordan, the commentator.
“He doesn’t seem happy about it and”
“Quinn scores a point due to this head start” yelled McGonagall through, but everyone seemed to focus on Ervin, who approached Albus’ stand.
“Come on, I’ll bring you to Madam Pomfrey” said Albus quickly, and grabbed Scorpius, hurrying past everyone, just in time for Ervin not to see them.
“Hey, are you alright?” asked Albus again, and he heard McGonagall again: “Quinn scores again!”
Albus took Scorpius away to the castle into the Hospital Wing.
***
After a few seconds Madam Pomfrey said: “Wizard Flu. Better stay off, Potter”
Albus nodded at her, and waved at Scorpius, then went back to the stands. He saw that Ervin had left the field, and another (possibly his friend) had replaced him.
Albus sat down when he heard Frederique: “James scores, that’s now 70 points to 30!, and Chris McLaggen, the new Gryffindor seeker, has spotted something. It seems that he found the –”
A loud ‘thud’ stopped her. Quinn had been hit by Ervin’s friend’s Bludger. Quinn fell off her broom and nearly touched the ground when Fred caught her.
“Quinn has been hit, but saved by Fred Weasley! Back to the Seeker, Chris, he flies upwards, and comes down! He has caught the Snitch! GRYFFINDOR WINS! AGAIN!”
Albus ran down (followed by Rose and Tyler) towards Quinn, who was sipping from some water Fred had given her.
“Are you okay?” he asked, and Quinn nodded. “Thanks for saving me, Fred. Again.” She said, when she saw Albus.
“Hey.”
Albus nodded at her, saying: “Second save by Fred, are you okay?”
She nodded, and said: “Anything fun happened yesterday?”
Albus nodded, (Fred raised his eyebrow) and muttered: “Meet us in front of the Room of Requirement in an hour”
Quinn nodded, and Albus walked off. Rose smiled at her and Tyler just followed Albus.
