Chapter 2: On the Train to Hogwarts

Albus' point of view

Albus looked out of the window as the train sped off.

"I'm really excited Al, It's going to be awesome. Molly said so too, she'll be in second year now" Rose said. The Weasley family had become even bigger. Molly and her younger sister Lucy, were Percy and Audrey's daughters, and Molly was a very excited girl, and she was very, present. Albus liked her least of all his cousins, as he himself was very calm. Rose in fact, was his favourite cousin, as they were the same age. "Well, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor of course." Albus nodded at her comment. He didn't want to talk about it, even though his father said he could choose Gryffindor. "Mum says we have to pay a lot of attention in the beginning, with the basics, but I already know some spells. Want to see one?"

Albus looked at her and nodded. "Yeah, cool!" he said, forgetting the houses.

"Okay. Wingardium Leviosa!" She said, waving her wand, and her book flew in the air.

"Awesome." Albus whispered, and he took out his wand. "I have a phoenix feather core, like my dad. You?" he asked.

She answered: "Unicorn hair. Do you know any spells yet?" Albus thought about it.

His father had shown him one once, but he wasn't sure if he could do it. He said: "Dad showed me one, I can try it?" She sat up and nodded. "Hold your wand." Albus said, and she took it in her hand. "Okay, I never did it before, but here it comes: EXPELLIARMUS" He yelled, and her wand flew out of her hand. Albus caught it.

"Wow." she said, and Albus looked at his wand.

"That was fun." He said.

Rose asked "Can you teach me?" Albus nodded. She tried a few times, but didn't succeed. Suddenly there was a lot of noise down the corridor. Albus looked at the compartment door, which slid open.

"Anything from the trolley, loves?" a plump lady with a funny hat asked, and Albus nodded.

He was hungry, as breakfast seemed ages ago. He bought some of everything, and took it inside. "Hungry? Mum made me some Muggle-made cupcakes. They're really good, want to try?" Albus took a cupcake, and tasted it.

It tasted really well, but he still preferred Pumpkin Pasties, or Cauldron Cakes. Albus took one, and said: "So, if we're in Gryffindor, we'll be with Molly, James, Victoire, Fred and Dominique, am I correct?"

"Well, Dominique is going next year, Al, she's not eleven yet." she said. Albus took another Pumpkin Pasty.

"Alright, minus her then." He said, and she took a book from her trunk.

"Minus her, we're with them, yes. But we're not sorted yet Al, don't act as though we're there already."

Albus realized it. He could still be in Slytherin. As he thought about it he randomly picked a Bertie Bott's Every Flavour bean, and nearly choked in it. "Toe..Nail" he coughed.

"Want some Taste-Changing Water?" she asked, and Albus nodded. He took the bright bottle and took a gulp. It started tasting like water, then like strawberry's, apple, bubblegum and it ended tasting like chocolate. "I wonder if there will be many Muggleborns this year." She said, reading her book, The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection.

"Yeah, me too. I do hope there aren't many mean Slytherins. Dad said they can be so mean." She nodded.

"Dad told me to watch out for the Malfoy kid, but he seems nice to me. I do think his father still loathes our parents. Mum told me about him once. He's called Draco Malfoy, and he used to be a Death Eater. I do hope his son is a little better. Mum said dad would call him a 'Stupid Slimy Slytherin Git." Albus thought about it. What if he was in Slytherin. Would Uncle Ron call him a Stupid Slimy Slytherin Git too? And he might be with the Malfoy kid. "Oh My Wand, Al! You have to get changed! You might forget!" Albus jumped up and grabbed his robes out of his trunk.

"I know, I know." He closed the curtains and changed, while saying: "Rose. Aren't you nervous about being in Gryffindor?" she laughed.

"Yes. But usually kids follow their parents, so less than you." Albus grunted.

"Well. I just don't want to be in Slytherin. Dad said that- never mind." She looked at him.

"Uncle Harry said what Al?" Albus shook his head.

"Nothing." She continued reading her book.

Albus opened the curtains again and said, "I'm so excited, I really hope we'll have just as good of a time as our parents had." She nodded. Albus sat down. This whole thing made him tired. He closed his eyes.

"ALBUS GET UP, WILL YOU!" he suddenly heard in his ear. He sat up and saw it was Rose. "We're almost there, you have to get ready al!"

Albus yawned. "How long did I sleep?"

Rose stuffed a fair few books in her trunk, and shoved all the candy that was left in Albus' trunk. "You slept for, what, two hours?" Albus looked in the window, which reflected him. He ruffled his hair so it looked normal again, and straightened out his robes. From behind him he heard a scoff. "Oh please Al, better help me clean out the compartment." Rose said, moving empty sweets wrappings in the little bin under the table.

"Alright." Albus said, and threw away the Every Flavour Beans they knew were really gross. The train slowed down. Albus and Rose saw a huge sign, saying:

HOGSMEADE PLATFORM

They jumped off the train, and saw Hagrid. "Firs'-years over here please!" He bellowed, and some kids from Albus' age followed him. They all looked frightened at the sight of Hagrid. Rose pulled Albus with her to Hagrid.

"Oy! Hagrid!" she yelled, and the grey haired half-Giant turned around.

"Rose! Albus!" he said, and hugged them.

Albus only then noticed some people were staring at him. He ignored it, and said: "Dad said you invited us over for tea on Friday." Hagrid nodded.

"Well, you follow me, an' bite in thi' chocola'e frog eh?" he handed Rose and him a chocolate frog, and they opened it. "Oh, and if it's Dumbledore, give it to me please?" They nodded, they already had Dumbledore.

"Look, it's dad!" Albus said, and some kids looked over his shoulder and started to whisper things like: "It's Potter's son, and that must be a Weasley then." or "Harry Potter is his dad! I'll be friends with him and then ask his father for an autograph."

Albus put it in his pocket, and Rose said: "Here, want to have your mum with it?"

Albus looked at his mother in the card she was holding. "Mum." He whispered.

He took it and shoved it next to his father. "Thanks Rose. You're the best." She smiled and they sped up so they could keep up with Hagrid.

"Everyone, pick a boa', and no more'n four in a boa' eh!" Albus stepped into a boat, followed by Rose.

"Do you mind?" a small girl with her light-brown hair in a ponytail asked.

"No, come in." Rose said, and she stepped in.

A tall boy jumped into the boat, causing them to nearly fall out. "Sorry, my friends are in the other boat, no other boats left, so I join you, okay?" he said in a loud voice. The three didn't say anything.

"Thanks. My name's Ervin by the way. Ervin Jones." Albus twitched.

"I'm Albus, and this is Rose." He trembled.

"Great. And who are you, little?" the girl stared at Ervin.

"I'm Quinn." She whispered.

"Well, we're going to Hogwarts, don't be nervous. Now. I want to know if the story of the Giant Squid in here is true." Ervin said - though it sounded like yelling.

"Giant Squid?" Albus asked, and Ervin laughed, which scared the three. "Here, in the water." He said, and Albus went to sit more in the middle of the boat.

"Well, I want to know it, so, who shall I throw in?"

Albus looked at Rose and Quinn, and whispered: "Why don't you go in yourself, Jones."

Ervin seemed to have heard it, and said: "One of you, or all of us?" Quinn and Albus looked at each other, alarmed. Albus closed his eyes. He started laughing very loudly. "You didn't actually think I'm throwing you in? You act as though you're Muggles!" Ervin yelled.

Rose said: "Oh. My. Wand."

Albus opened his eyes and followed her gaze. She was looking at a huge castle, with many towers.

"Wow." Quinn whispered. There were many people gazing at the castle, and all were gasping. "That's amazing, it is!"

Ervin spun around quickly, and Albus gripped the sides of the boat, because it made the boat move. "Oh come off it Albus. You're scared, aren't you?"

Albus shook his head. "No- no I'm not." He looked down the edge of the boat, and swore something was moving.

"We're almos' there!" Hagrid yelled, and Ervin looked back at Albus.

"You kind of make me think of someone." He said, and Albus looked at him. "I don't know. Well. Alright" he said.

***

Albus was happy when they got out of the boats. He saw Ervin running to his friends, and then pointing at him while saying stuff. "Come on Al. Quinn, are you coming too?" Rose asked, and Quinn smiled, walking next to her. They followed Hagrid up the castle, and had to run to keep up with him. He raised his enormous fist and knocked on the door.
