Chapter 11: The Cloak
Easter arrived quickly. They were free, but they still had loads of homework to do. They were sitting in the library, learning, when Rose came in.
“Guys! I found information on the cloak!” Albus jumped up and looked in the book. Scorpius looked over his shoulder while they read.
“Here, The Cloak of Wisdom has been Hogwarts’ enemy, as it’s known for its magic turning properties. It is rumoured, however, to be at Hogwarts.” She said.
“I say we check to see where it could be.” Scorpius nodded.
“Now the question is, how?” said Albus.
Rose came up with the next idea “Well, we could first ask professor Binns, then the Grey Lady!”
Tyler exclaimed: “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
They ran across the hall to the staff’s hall. Here were the staff dorms, and their room.
The five knocked on the front door, and waited. When the door opened, they all closed their eyes for a moment.
“What is it?” asked professor Chubbs, who was wearing a bathrobe.
“Err, could we speak to professor Binns for a moment please?” asked Scorpius, and Chubbs nodded.
“That was the most horrifying beyond horrifying things I have ever seen. And I have seen my granddad in just a towel.” Said Scorpius, and Albus laughed.
“What’s so funny?” someone asked, and Albus spun around.
“Ervin! How wonderful to see you!” Ervin looked at him.
“Potter, answer my question, you filthy brat.”
Albus looked at Ervin’s friend, Derek Flint, and said: “Seems like you have a, what do they call it again? Clone following you. Flint.”
Derek stepped forward but Ervin said: “Now now, don’t be mean Flint, I just want to ask dear Potter’s cousin for a favour. Rose, was it? Yeah. Can I ask you something?”
Rose rolled her eyes and snapped: “You just did.” Ervin reached for her hand but Albus slapped it away with such force Ervin’s hand turned blood red.
“Bloody hell Potter. We’ll ask her later.” They ran off, and the door opened again.

“The Cloak of Wisdom, you mean?” said Professor Binns when they had explained everything.
“Yeah.” Said Rose, and Binns said: “Well, it is rumoured to be in a room that is rumoured to open at the exact right question, but I honestly don’t believe in it.”
Quinn whispered: “The Room of Requirement.”
Binns looked at her, and continued: “I don’t suppose you’re up to something?”
They shook their heads and thanked the professor. “Let’s go there now.” Said Rose, but Albus said: “We need to study first. Exams are in almost two months.”
Rose nodded, and they went back to the library. “Albus, when do we have our Potions exam?” asked Tyler, and Albus shrugged.
“No idea. I haven’t learned for it yet anyway. I’m busy with History of Magic.” Quinn nodded.
“Yeah. That one’s going to be impossible.”
***
Four weeks later Albus said: “I want to find out about the Cloak. Okay?”
“Sure.” Said Quinn, and the five left.
When they arrived at the Room of Requirement Albus said: “We need to find the Cloak of Wisdom.”
The door appeared, and the five stepped into their library, with a chest in the middle.
Albus moved to open the chest when they room started shaking.
“What the Bloody Hell is happening?” asked Scorpius, and Albus held to the chest.
“I have no idea.”
The light flew out and Quinn let out a scream.
“Where’s the door?!” shrieked Tyler in a girllike voice.
Albus whipped out his wand. “Lumos” he said, and a bulb of light appeared at the tip of his wand.
“I’m scared guys, what’s happening?” said Quinn, and Rose clicked again.
“Of course! After Roland offended Ravenclaw she killed him, and she cursed Hogwarts so if the Cloak was found the person who found it would be punished, and that’s why w-w-were s-s-tuck here. Why i-is it so cold here suddenly?”
Albus looked at her. “It is really cold here. But I still want to open the chest. Let’s try Charms on it.” He said, matter-of-factly.
“Alohomora” he said, but nothing happened.
“Cistem Aperio!” the chest clicked. “Right, I’ll open it now.” He opened it and a shriek came out of it.
“ROLAND! YOU! GET OUT!”
The shriek stopped, and Albus looked at the others. (They had Lumosed their wands too) and then in the chest.
A Ravenclaw blue Cloak with yellow stars was inside, and Albus pulled it out. It sparkled at his touch.
“Okay, who wants to test it?” he asked, and Quinn raised her hand.
“Please?”
Albus nodded and handed it to her.
She threw it on and said: “Rose? Ask me anything.”
Rose thought, and asked: “When was the Second Wizarding War?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“24th of June, 1995 until the second of May, 1998” Rose looked impressed.
Tyler asked: “Name the British and Irish Quidditch teams.”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“Appleby Arrows, Ballycastle Bats, Banchory Bangers, Barnton, Caerphilly Catapults, Chudley Cannons, Cork, Falmouth Falcons, Holyhead Harpies, Ilkley, Kenmare Kestrels, Lancashire, Montrose Magpies, Pride of Portree, Puddlemere United, Tutshill Tornadoes, Wigtown Wanderers, Wimbourne Wasps, Yorkshire” It was Tyler’s turn to look impressed.
Scorpius cleared his throat and said: “How old is professor Chubbs?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“47” she answered, and Scorpius shrugged.
“Even if you said she was a hundred and fifty I’d believe you.”
Albus laughed. “Quinn? Who are the makers of my brother’s Marauders Map?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“Mssrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.”
Albus nodded. “Now, to see if it doesn’t tell the truth instead of wisdom, Quinn, What is your most embarrassing memory?”
Quinn shrugged. “I don’t know.”
Rose nodded. “It’s a wisdom Cloak. Now how do we get out of here with the room locked up?”
Quinn thought, but the Cloak didn’t sparkle.
“I don’t know” she said, and Albus said: “Then we should just have ourselves busy. Want to play truth or dare?”
the four nodded, and they sat down, the Cloak in the middle. “It still is cold though.” Said Quinn, and Rose shrugged.
“When we’re busy we won’t think of it. Now, Scorpius, Truth or Dare?”
Scorpius thought, and said: “Dare.”
Rose thought of something, then said: “Imitate three of us and then we have to guess who it is.”
Scorpius laughed awkwardly and got up. He cleared his throat and then he walked around with a girlish walk. Then he said: “Guys, we have to learn, it’s important, learn!”
Rose shook her head and Albus said: “It’s Rose.”
Scorpius nodded, and said: “okay, next” he thought and then he said: “Ervin, you’re stupid.” Albus raised his hand and Scorpius nodded.
“Two down, one to go. Okay, erm, I’m in the Quidditch team, and I love it!”
Quinn laughed and said: “That’s the worst imitation of me like, ever.”
Scorpius sat down and said: “Okay Quinn, Truth or Dare?” Quinn thought and said: “Truth.”
Scorpius narrowed his eyes and said: “What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?”
Quinn thought and said: “Ooh, that one’s hard. I have to say that it’s a Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Bean, with the flavour blood.”
She grimaced at the thought and said: “Okay, Rose, truth or dare"
Rose immediately said: “Dare.”
Quinn laughed and said: “I dare you to kiss Scorpius.” Rose laughed, sighed and moved to him when Quinn added: “On the mouth.”
Rose looked at her and said: “Fine.” She kissed Scorpius real quick and moved back again.
“Done. Tyler?”
Tyler said: “Truth.”
Rose asked: “What is the meanest thing you have ever done?”
Tyler laughed and said: “Well, I had this neighbour and, oh gosh it’s so mean. Well we were friends, and then him and I got into an argument about something, and then the next time we went on a play date again I sort of threw his teddy bear ‘accidently’ into a bucket with olive oil, vinegar and fish sauce with garlic mash in it. We moved two weeks later.”
He laughed, and Albus looked at him. “Wow. That’s really mean. The smell. Yuck.”
Tyler turned to Albus who said: “Truth.”
Tyler laughed and said: “What fears keep you up at night?” Albus shrugged.
“Erm. I did have a huge fear I would be in Slytherin, no offence Scorpius, but now… I don’t know really.” Tyler nodded.
“Okay.”
Quinn suddenly said: “Guys, I’m F-F-Freezing. Can’t we do anything?”
Albus nodded and said: “Put on the Cloak.” Quinn obliged and Albus asked: “What can we do about the coldness?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“Make a fire out of books. Make it big.” Albus nodded and they made a pile of books. Albus whipped out his wand and said: “Incendio! Engorgio!”
the fire came out and turned very big. It licked books on the sides and the five ran towards one wall.
“QUINN? WHAT CAN WE DO?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“Throw in the Cloak? No, use Aguamenti!” Albus obliged.
“Aguamenti!” He said, and a stream of water erupted.
It didn’t stop the fire. “Quinn?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled. “Throw in the Cloak? No! Try Finite Incantatem!”
Albus tried it. “Finite Incantatem!” Nothing happened.
“Oh god we’re going to burn and then we’ll be bacon.” Said Tyler, and suddenly they heard Quinn shriek in fear.
Albus spun around and saw she was surrounded by fire. “Help me!” she shrieked, and Albus thought.
“What to do, what to do?” he asked himself, and then to Quinn. She thought and the Cloak sparkled.
“Have you tried Prohibio?” Albus tried it but nothing happened.
The fire licked Quinn and she shrieked. It, however, didn’t do anything to her, but a sizzling noise was heard. “Quinn? What can you do?”
Quinn thought and the Cloak sparkled (accompanied with a lot of sizzling sounds)
“Throw in the Cloak? No no no!”
Albus yelled: “TRY IT!” Quinn obliged and threw the Cloak into the fire.
The sizzling sound was massive, and Quinn fell to the ground.
The fire had stopped and Albus ran towards Quinn.
The light in the library had returned, and Albus pulled the unconscious Quinn on his back and aimed his wand at the wall.
“BOMBARDA MAXIMA!”
The wall exploded and the five left, Albus carrying Quinn.
They ran off (The wall remorphed again) to the Hospital Wing.
Albus kicked open the door and dropped Quinn on a bed.
“What happened?” asked Madam Pomfrey when she arrived, and Albus said: “She fell.”
Madam Pomfrey nodded and waved her wand at Quinn. “She’ll be fine. Any of you got hurt?” they shook their head and left the Hospital Wing.
***
A week later Quinn was allowed to leave the Hospital Wing again, and Albus said to her: “I spoke to McGonagall, she said you don’t have to do the tests because you couldn’t learn with a concussion. Want to come to the kitchens? Scorpius, Rose and Tyler are there already.” Quinn nodded and Albus added: “Know what date it is today?” she nodded.
“It’s the 28th of May.” She said, and Albus pulled her with him.
They entered the kitchens and all the house elves, Rose, Scorpius and Tyler were there, yelling: “SURPRISE!” Quinn laughed.
“How’d you know it’s my birthday!”
Albus shrugged and said: “I have connections.”
He pulled out a present and Quinn smiled. “Aww, you did not have to do that.”
She opened it and smiled at the broomstick care box. “Thanks Albus!”
Rose was next, she gave her a stationary kit, and said: “Don’t forget to write us.”
Quinn smiled and said: “Guys, we only have holidays in like a month!” Scorpius handed her another present.
A green bracelet. “From your Slytherin friend” he said, before joining Tyler in a discussion on Quidditch. He had given her a poster of his favourite Quidditch team, and they ate a lot of food.
***
After the tests was the End-Of-Term Feast.
The headmaster, (who had an unwritable and unpronounceable name) said: "Well, Another year has passed. Whether it is for the smart, the a little less gifted, our fellow Slytherins, Gryffindors, Ravenclaws or Hufflepuffs, we will always be here. Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. I know that you are mostly excited to see the points, but I have to tell you something. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you believe, what house you’re in, what colour you wear, we are all wizards. Keep that in mind. Now, the winner of the Quidditch cup has already been awarded to Gryffindor, and they have earned many points by that. For the rest, We have very smart Ravenclaws who knew many award worthy answers, and Hufflepuffs who have been helping and being loyal. For my old Slytherin are those people who have won many between games and duels due to their very cunning minds, but one of these stood out grandly. I award the House Cup to…”
All the students were waiting for him to tell that, and all were hoping.
“GRYFFINDOR! DUE TO THEIR QUIDDITCH SKILLS!” Fred pulled up Quinn and placed her on the table, everyone cheering at her. She was smiling broadly.
