I might be a bit biased since Dance Gavin Dance is one of my favorite bands, but when it comes to progressive, experimental, and post-hardcore rock their album titled Mothership is a work of art. In my opinion, it's their best album.

You'd have to really listen to the music behind the clean and unclean vocals to fully appreciate their diverse musicality. As an experimental/progressive band, they don't stick to one sound or rhythm for an entire song and overall piece their music differently than the more traditional bands. You will hear guitar riffs that sound like they should be solos, but are actually used as support with everything else, and several rhythms going on at once. The sounds go from rock to funk to hardcore to rap and back to funk, and these changes will keep you in engaged in the music.

Though, if you're looking for something lyrical, sometimes DGD isn't the best choice. While they sound incredible, some of their lyrics are nonsensical. My favorite nonsensical lyric was, "Riding a rhino, pico de gallo."

Yeah, I don't know what that means either.

DGD has everything from a clean, lovable ballad about a 'make or break' point in a relationship...

...to a hard hitting track with somewhat darkly humorous lyrics about animals fighting...

...to the most nonsensical song ever that references a couple of well-known hip-hop songs in pop culture. Also, cats. And a bit of rapping. And auto tune.

And my personal favorite – Inspire the Liars
