Alarm

"Uno!" they yelled in unison, an argument quickly sparking between the two groups of friends.

"Deku most definitely said Uno first," Uraraka states, a smirk on her face as if the mere statement could possibly solidify her, or rather Midoriya's, victory.

"You need to go to Recovery Girl and get your ears checked," Mina shouts back, clearly proud of her comeback. "Bakugou definitely said it first. There's no way Midoriya could have been close enough to even consider that."

"He was thought!"

"Bakugou was louder," Mina argued.

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"I couldn't hear Midoriya, therefore, Bakugou wins and Midoriya has to draw four cards."

"FOUR CARDS?" Uraraka shouts indignantly. "The rules state that he would only have to pick up two and that's only if he didn't call Uno first. Which. He. Did."

"We agreed to at the start of the game to go by house rules on this one," Mina points out and Uraraka huffs in annoyance. "Four cards and he did not call Uno first."

Kirishima sinks back into the couch, a chuckle making its way out of him as he watches the two girls arguing over who has to pick up the cards. They argue like it's the most important thing in the world.

He turns his attention to Midoriya, who draws four cards after a raised brow and silent question to Bakugou.

There's a cheeky smile on his face when he does and Bakugou smirks back at him, trying not to laugh at their friends' ridiculous antics.

Kirishima was glad they were finally getting along better, a lot less fighting and tension whenever the two were in the same room.

The whole point of today's game was to bring the two groups together since Bakugou and Midoriya had finally become friends.

Kirishima finds himself laughing as Bakugou rolls his eyes so hard he looks like he's about to pass out.

Neither of them even care about the two girls arguing over them.

"Oi, Pikachu, go!" Bakugou shouts, massaging his temples in an effort to alleviate the headache brought on by the girls.

Midoriya snickers at Bakugou and Kaminari when the poor dude jumps, clearly confused and startled at being mentioned.

"Oh?" he asks, looking back to find that Midoriya was the one who had grabbed the cards, adding it to his near empty hand, effectively ending the argument.

"Why did you grab the cards Deku?" Uraraka asks, voice bordering on a whine.

"I lost."

"You did not!"

"I did. It's okay," Midoriya stated, kind as usual. He looks down at his hand again, chuckling as an uncharacteristic smirk takes over his face. "I'll still beat you all and win the game."

He's been spending way too much time with Bakugou, Kirishima decides.

Bakugou spluttered, clearly flustered, and Kirishima pretended he didn't notice the blush spreading across Bakugou's features, or the small, private smile Midoriya gave him when he noticed

"What the hell are you on about, Nerd? There's no way you'll beat me."

"Wanna bet?" Midoriya shot back, just as quick, causing Bakugou to turn away, annoyed.

Midoriya merely chuckles at his reaction, watching as Kaminari places a yellow three on the pile.

The game only lasts a few more minutes with another shouting match between the girls when Midoriya got another Uno. In the end, the girls both agreed that Midoriya had beat out Bakugou, who rolls his eyes.

Everyone stares at Midoriya, looking for any tells he may have, hoping to glean what car he has left so they could prevent him from winning.

Midoriya's face is unnervingly blank.

Kaminari places down a yellow reverse card, sending it back to Midoriya, much to the chagrin of the group. Why give him another opportunity to win?

Midoriya eyes the group, a wide grin splitting his face as he slams down his last card, a draw four, and effectively winning the game with no way to have lost.

The entire group groans.

"Again?" Uraraka whines, a huff passing her lips as she crosses her arms. "That's like... the fourth time today?"

"Midobro, congrats on winning every game we've played. Impressive, man," Kirishima shouts, clapping Midoriya loudly on the back.

Bakugou looked pissed at having lost again and Iida, wisely, decided that the group should probably take a break from Uno, from games in general, before anyone died.

With Bakugou constantly losing and Mina and Uraraka fighting, it was a strong possibility.

Kirishima breathes a sigh of relief, glad to finally have a break from Mina's erratic ways and weird arguing.

He honestly should have known better, since he's known her for so long, because as soon as the game was put up, Mina was gathering everyone around the television in the main room. She was clearly excited about something and was projecting it onto the screen for everyone to see.

"Where did you get that?" Bakugou growls angrily and Kirishima's hair rose on his arms, distinctly aware that this was an angry Bakugou growl, not a playful one.

This wasn't going to end well.

"I have my ways," Mina chirps, bubbly as ever. She clearly didn't understand the sense of danger she was in, the tension permeating the air.

Mina plows forward, uncaring of the consequences.

The picture itself wasn't bad. It was just Midoriya and Bakugou dressed up for Halloween as kids, with Midoriya in an All Might suit, which surprised no one, and Bakugou dressed as the grim reaper.

It was an adorable picture, but Kirishima knows this is a soft spot for the two, seeing as soon after this was taken were the darkest years of their lives. Neither of them really went into much detail about it, but something had torn them apart and Kirishima had a strong feeling it had to do with Mrs. Bakugou.

"It's so cure," Uraraka mumbled, eyes widening slightly when she realized that she'd spoken aloud. She flushes a dark red, embarrassed.

Midoriya blushes as well, stuttering out a thanks to Uraraka, hoping that the words didn't sound too awkward or stilted or something.

"I'm not done, though," Mina squeaks, eyeing the two in question, brow raised at their odd interaction. She shakes her head and pulls up a TikTok, obviously on a mission.

Midoriya's eyes widened upon seeing the cover screen of the video and a blush coats his cheeks, so dark Kirishima almost can't see his freckles. There's something in his eyes, almost like shame, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. "Y-you don't have to show that to everyone, Mina."

Kirishima's gut roils at how uncomfortable Midoriya seems.

"I want to though," she insists, tilting her head and blinking lazily at him like it was the most obvious thing in the world. To her it was. She wouldn't be showing them these things if she didn't want to.

Despite the rolling of his stomach, Kirishima finds he wants to laugh because of course Mina was too blind to realize that Midoriya was being too nice to ask her not to show the video. He tended to be rather unconfrontational, unless it was around Bakugou, and there's no way he'd outright tell her not to do anything, whether he wanted it shown or not.

Midoriya just bites his lip nervously, deciding not to say anything more on the subject matter and Kirishima watches the anger bubble up inside of Bakugou.

His heart stutters in his chest at the thought that Bakugou could potentially blow the building to pieces if he was angry enough.

"Mina," Kirishima starts, trying to grab her attention. "Maybe you shouldn't-" he decides, wanting to stop the inevitable blow up that would happen if she continued.

"Nonsense," She chuckles. "This video doesn't even scratch the surface of the good stuff yet."

Bakugou tenses at the way she says yet, which in turn causes the entire room to tense in a nervous sort of fear.

Midoriya's breath hitches quietly and his eyes widen impossibly further as her words register in his head.

"Wh-what do you mean yet?" he asks, clearly trying to keep his voice even and concise. The look Bakugou was giving, something akin to concern, proved that the slight tremor wasn't just something that Kirishima had picked up on, despite Midoriya's best efforts to hide it.

"You better not be doing what I think you are," Bakugou hisses and the sound makes Kirishima shiver, slithering it's way into his mind. He knows he'll remember how angry Bakugou sounds in this moment for an incredibly long time and he can't help but worry for Mina's future.

It was clear that both Bakugou and Midoriya knew what she as doing though, what game she was getting at, and they both seemed to be uncomfortable with it.

Kirishima noticed it a little more with Midoriya, in the way that he was hunched in on himself, refusing to make eye contact with her.

Bakugou looked like he was caught between relieved that, whatever this was, was getting out there and angry that Mina was forcing it. It was evident in the way that his back was ramrod straight and every one of his muscles seemed tense, like he was physically restraining himself from attacking her.

"It's alright you guys," she assured, beaming. She seemed blind to everything going on around her, the tense atmosphere that she'd created. She was too invested in her tea.

"Really, Mina. Maybe we should think about this, think about what they want," Uraraka argued, slow and careful as opposed to her brazen arguing with Mina earlier.

It was suddenly very clear to Kirishima that she knew what was going on and that she wanted to protect their feelings.

She knew and she was trying to stop Mina from doing anything too rash, from doing anything bad enough to anger Bakugou.

Mina, though blind to everybody else, seemed to pick up on this little fact and was absolutely affronted. "You knew!"

Uraraka bows her head and chooses to stay silent.

"You know and you didn't say anything!?"

"I promised that I wouldn't," Uraraka muttered, chancing a look in Midoriya's direction.

Kirishima couldn't help but wonder if she was made a promise to Midoriya, one of her closest friends, or if it was a threat from Bakugou that kept her from saying anything. Knowing them though, he figured it was probably a little bit of both.

The thought made him chuckle.

"What's so funny shitty hair?" Bakugou shouted, the tension in the room, and Kirishima's own anxiety, skyrockets to new highs.

He has to figure out a way to diffuse this situation before it gets any worse. One wrong word from him and Bakugou might blow his lid.

"I think I've seen this one," he settles on, hoping these are the right words. "You two are good."

Bakugou seems to relax at that and Midoriya smiled weakly at him, so he counts it as a win, even though he's never seen the video. He's just glad that it looked like they were going to start dancing.

"Well, I haven't and I want to," Kaminari says, breaking the awkward silence that had settle in the room.

Mina lets out a breath of air before smiling widely and playing the video, completely ignoring the way that Midoriya sinks again.

It was a simple video, to be honest. Bakugou and Midoriya were dancing, something short and sweet. The only surprising thing, really, had been the fact that Midoriya dipped Bakugou at the end.

It was clear from how they started laughing afterwards that they'd had fun and Kirishima couldn't help but smile at it.

"Ooooooh. I have one," Kaminari cheers, pulling out his phone in a flash in hopes of finding the right video.

He takes over the broadcast for a moment to show them all an old vine where Midoriya was dancing, looking like he's hyping himself up to start breaking dancing.

Honestly, Kirishima would love to see that.

Then Bakugou, being the menace that he is, decides to change it to something resembling the nutcracker and watches, baffled, as Midoriya flawlessly changes into a ballet style dance.

He finds himself chuckling alongside Uraraka and Tsu at how funny Bakugou's astonished face is.

They were a lot younger then, clearly in one of their weird middle school phases where they hated each other, or at least Bakugou hated Midoriya, but they still liked each other enough to do videos together.

Honestly, Kirishima would never understand how their relationship worked, but he has a sneaking suspicion that they don't really know either.

"Not exactly where I was going with this, but I love that, so sent it to me," Mina mutters to herself, just loud enough for Kaminari to hear. She shrugs and moves on. "Alright, next."

Before Midoriya or Bakugou could even think about protesting, she pulls up another picture that instantly has both boys spluttering, blushing so incredibly bright Kirishima's a little surprised that they aren't glowing.

It was an incredibly fluffy picture of the two of them, definitely more recent considering the muscle that Midoriya had.

They were lying in a bed, in what Kirishima thinks is Bakugou's dorm. Bakugou's arms were wrapped around Midoriya, holding him tightly against his chest. The blankets were thrown off, pooled around their feet, showing their legs intertwined tightly against one another.

Midoriya wouldn't have been able to move if he wanted to. Bakugou's face was pressed into Midoriya's hair and they both had the barest semblance of a smile adorning their features.

Frankly, Kirishima found it adorable. However, he had an inkling about what was going on and the bad feeling in his stomach seemed to get worse, growing ever present.

He hoped his hunch was wrong.

For Mina's sake.

"Please stop," Midoriya murmured, the sound rather out of character for him, but not in the fun way it was when they were all playing Uno earlier.

Kirishima could see the moment the sound registered in Bakugou's brain, watching as the boy tensed even more, clenching has jaw tightly as his eyes narrowed into slits.

He was taking deep, heaving breaths in an effort to calm himself down, to keep from exploding. Midoriya had grabbed his hand in the hopes that it would help, even just a little. He was squeezing it so tight, letting Bakugou know that it was alright to squeeze back to relieve some of the tension, grounding him.

They really did have an odd friendship, with all of the yelling and arguing and fighting, but they seemed to work for each other and that's more than Kirishima could ever ask for.

Mina didn't seem to hear Midoriya's plea, nor did she seem to see how close Bakugou was to snapping at her.

Instead, she just pulled up another photo of them, oblivious to the world around her, even as Todoroki and Kaminari started to move away from the fuming blonde.

There was another sharp intake of air and Kirishima wasn't sure what direction it had come from, he was so focused on the picture before him, heart thundering in his chest as his hair rose.

These photos were getting really intimate.

Kirishima was almost certain now that he knew where she was going and based off the boys' reactions, it was clear that they didn't want everyone to know yet.

Midoriya's eyes filled with tears, but he refused to let them fall.

They weren't ready.

"Mina," he tried to warn.

"Hmm?"

"Maybe you should really stop," he suggested, trying his best to convey that in his eyes.

"I'm almost done."

"Mina," he tried again. He knew he wouldn't be able to stop Bakugou if he decided to go on a rampage and he knows that he's about to break.

"I'm almost done," she snapped at him.

Kirishima shuts his mouth then, deciding that he isn't going to argue with her. It was clear that he wasn't going to get anywhere with her and if she wished to ignore all of them telling her to stop, then she should face the consequences.

As long as she doesn't die, of course.

Despite the tense atmosphere the picture brought, Kirishima had to admit that it was kind of cute.

The photo depicted the two of them on a park bench, ice cream in hand. The sun was setting, but they both seemed to blissful, both adoring the other.

The photo itself wasn't too incriminating yet, but Kirishima knows there's only so far she can go before Bakugou snaps. She's almost stepped over the line and the only reason she isn't with Recovery Girl right now is because Midoriya has somehow managed to calm Bakugou down.

"Please, Mina. Stop," Midoriya asks again, almost pleading this time.

Kirishima notices that he's shaking slightly. Bakugou's hand has moved to squeeze his thigh in some sort of comfort. It seems to work, even if only a little bit.

Bakugou's temper flares, dangerously, the other hand emitting tiny, barely there explosions that make the whole room smell like smoke.

Kirishima can't help but find it amazing how Bakugou could have so much control over his quirk. He was incredibly angry, livid even, with Mina right now, but somehow he managed to keep his quirk under control, the explosions only coming from one of his hands. The one holding Midoriya's hand was devoid of any smoke or explosions.

It was incredibly fascinating.

Mina hums to herself as she looks through her phone, pulling up another photo.

In this one, the two boys are watching a movie. It looks like the picture was snuck from behind the tv.

Bakugou was resting his head in Midoriya's lap, facing the screen, eyes half lidded, like he was only a moment's notice away from falling asleep. He has a small, content smile gracing his face.

Midoriya was running his hand through Bakugou's hair, no longer looking at the screen but loving looking down at him.

There are a couple of coos to Kirishima's left, probably the girls as they whisper about how adorable the photo is.

Kirishima watches as Bakugou turns, minutely, to look at Midoriya, eyebrow raised in question. He probably didn't know that Midoriya was staring at him with such fondness.

The look disappears quickly though, when he sees the anger and sadness battling on Midoriya's face.

It's an odd thing to watch since the only time Kirishima has ever really seen Midoriya angry was in a fight with Bakugou or that one time that he went off on Mineta for being such an ass.

Ultimately, the sadness wins and he curls even further into himself, somehow. Bakugou gets angry and he looks one second away from snapping at Mina.

"Mina," Bakugou growls in warning. Kirishima's hair stands on its end again. This was an angry growl, one that meant danger. Bakugou was at his breaking point and the only thing holding him back right now was Midoriya.

Kirishima only has a moment to consider how sweet that is before Mina is changing the picture again, ignoring Bakugou.

There it is. The final photo. The one that everything was leading up to until now.

There is a shocked gasp that seems to resonate throughout the room. The temperature seems to drop as Bakugou fixes Mina with an icy cold stare and Kirishima knows that she pushed too far.

Bakugou and Midoriya were locked in a tight embrace, kissing like it was the only important thing in the world. Midoriya had his arms wrapped around Bakugou's waist, pulling him in tighter. One of Bakugou's hands was carding finger's through Midoriya's unruly hair at the nape of his neck, the other gently cradling his face like it was the most precious thing in the world.

The room is silent, save for Bakugou's heavy breaths.

Everyone is attempting to process what they were seeing, except Mina who was beaming, proudly showing off her findings, looking like she'd won some kind of prize.

Kirishima felt bad for her, but only for a second.

Multiple people had warned her, multiple times. She refused to listen.

As he predicted, the room broke out into murmurs. There was talking and shouting, each person trying to be heard over the others. Some were trying to ask the boys questions, others talking amongst themselves.

Then, a barely there noise stopped all of it.

A sob.

Midoriya was crying.

Midoriya was crying and Bakugou went to reach for his face, to pull him into a hug and comfort him.

Midoriya sniffles and pushes him away, running out of the room, wiping tears from his eyes.

Kirishima watches as the pain flits through Bakugou's eyes, only for a split second. He looks heartbroken. Then he takes a deep breath, sets his shoulders back and storms towards Mina, only having eyes for her, the one who made his Deku cry.

Mina shrinks against the couch, finally realizing that she should have stopped. She looks between Bakugou and the archway to the kitchen and realizes how dire this situation is.

She looks like she's fearing for her life.

Everyone watches in silence, not a noise to be heard as he approaches her, fear freezing her to the spot, shame making her want to run. Instead she just bows her head, waiting for him to attack.

Bakugou's breathing is hard, laboured. There's small explosions coming from his hands, both of them now, and smoke fills the air.

He really looks like he's about to murder her and Kirishima is about to jump in tor protect her when another small sob cuts through the tension in the room, muffled because of the distance.

Kirishima watches, astonished, as Bakugou's shoulders slump. He curls into himself a little, face softening, tears briming his eyes. His hands unclench and Kirishima finds himself sighing in relief, realizing that the building was no longer at risk of collapsing.

Bakugou takes a deep breath, unsettling everyone with how calm he is. The room seems to tense again, waiting for him to snap, expecting the calm before the storm, but Kirishima knows better.

He can see the fight has left him.

He looks solemn.

Defeated.

"Why couldn't you stop when he asked you to?" he asks, a barely there sound voice hoarse, like the light in his life had been drained away from him.

Bakugou turns on his heel, surprising the room, as he decides that he is more suited for taking care of his boyfriend at the moment than murdering one of his closest friends for being too excited about things.

He stuffs his hands in his pocket, head lowered as he walks into the other room.

The room is silent again, for just a second, before people start talking, some wondering how long they've been together, how the two could have hidden it so well when they seem to hate each other. Some people, mostly Iida, express their concern for Mina's safety when Bakugou is certain that Midoriya has been comforted enough.

Kirishima knows that she's in the clear.

Honestly, they are all luck that Midoriya is so emotional, otherwise Bakugou probably would have beaten her to a pulp.

Kirishima stands, deciding that he should go check on the two of them, wanting to ensure that they were okay, that this hadn't broken them like it might have other people.

Kirishima realizes, as he's walking towards the kitchen, that they have changed each other. Really, he should have seen it sooner.

Midoriya was a good influence on Bakugou, even though it was quite obvious that Bakugou was hurt that Midoriya didn't want to tell anyone about them.

He must really love Midoriya.

As if the blonde had read his mind, he hears Bakugou tell Midoriya that he loves him.

Kirishima stops just outside of the kitchen, not wanting to invade on their private moment, finding Bakugou with his arms wrapped protectively around a crying Midoriya.

Kirishima can feel Bakugou's anger from here, but he also sees the pained look in his eyes, the one reserved only for his boyfriend.

Midoriya whispers something and the anger disappears completely. Bakugou's eyes tear up and he pulls Midoriya closer to him, hugging him tighter as he whispers something back to him. He kisses Midoriya's hair, eyes closed, as a tear, that Kirishima pretends he didn't see, falls from his eye.

Kirishima smiles to himself and silently leaves, not wanting to interrupt their quiet moment.

Midoriya and Bakugou are too stubborn to let this break them.

He knows they'll be find so long as they have each other.
