Chapter Two - Science and Faith.

"Alec, come on! We have to go shopping for your suit at some point!" Isabelle whined through the phone, "I'm going with Clary and Jace and Simon today to get our outfits so please just come with us!"

Alec sighed, stretching his legs out over the arm of the sofa, "Do I really have to go today? We haven't even sorted out a date!"

Isabelle retorted, "I know for a fact it's going to be Christmas. Magnus told me!"

Alec glared up at Magnus, "You told her?" Magnus smiled with a nod. Alec rolled his eyes, "Fine. I'll go today with you."

"Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Meet us at the Institute!" Isabelle squealed and disconnected the call, Alec sighed as he slipped his phone back into his jeans pocket. "Thanks for telling her. Now I'm never going to hear the end of it."

"You're welcome sexy." Magnus replied, turning the page in his book, his eyes barely focusing on the open pages as he pretended to read.

Alec stood up and stretched, "Well, if I'm going to buy my suit I guess you'd better buy yours."

"Already sorted sweet pea." Magnus grinned, kissing Alec sweetly. Alec sighed again, "It's a shame you have to go shopping," Magnus added, "I could spend all day doing this."

"Well, it's your fault. You told her! I was happy to spend all day doing this too." Alec replied as he headed towards the bedroom to grab his trainers and put them on over his bare feet. He paused on his way out of the flat to stare out of the window at the heavily falling snow. 'A white Christmas wedding.' Alec thought with a smile, out of the corner of his eye he could see Magnus watching him. Alec smiled over at his fiancé and grabbed his coat, raising a hand in farewell he continued to the front door and opened it, heading towards the stairs. Glancing back over his shoulder, he could see Magnus stood in the doorway watching him go. Magnus snapped his fingers and a blue woollen hat and scarf landed on Alec's head and wound around his neck. Magnus blew the Nephilim a kiss as Alec looked once more over his shoulder and disappeared from view.

'I wonder what he is thinking.' Magnus thought as he watched Alec as the Shadowhunter stared out through the window of Magnus's apartment watching the snowflakes fall heavily to the snow coated ground outside. An adorable smile curved Alec's lips and it took every ounce of strength Magnus had not to leap to his feet and stop Alec from leaving, possibly through kissing. Alec smiled over at Magnus as he put his coat on and opened the front door, heading towards the stairs. Magnus stood and followed close behind Alec, leaning against the doorframe to watch his fiancé go. Alec glanced over his shoulder and smiled again at Magnus. 'If he smiles once more in my direction, I will refuse to let him leave!' Magnus thought as he snapped his fingers and a blue woollen hat and scarf landed on Alec's head and wound around his neck. Magnus blew the Nephilim a kiss as Alec looked once more over his shoulder and disappeared from view.

Stepping back inside his flat and shutting the door behind him, Magnus sighed. Chairman Meow padded silently into view and Magnus smiled, "There's my son." He said scooping the cat up into his arms, stroking Chairman Meow's face lightly. "What say, we get you some breakfast?" He carried the cat into the kitchen and set him down on top of the counter while he fetched a bowl and tin of cat food from the cupboard above his head. "What'll it be Chairman? Tuna or chicken?" He held up two tins for the cat to sniff, before opening the tin full of tuna after Chairman Meow had rubbed his face on the tin. "We are going to go and buy you a very cute suit to wear for the wedding, Chairman. You are going to love it." Magnus told the cat as he emptied the contents of the tin into the porcelain white bowl. "Maybe spy on Alec at the same time." He giggled as he picked up both the bowl and cat and placed both of them on the floor. 'Yes. Definitely spy on Alec.' Magnus thought as he went to find a pair of shoes to put on.

Alec sighed, dragging his feet along the pavement behind Isabelle, Clary, Jace and Simon. They'd been waiting for him outside on the Institute's front steps as he slowly trudged up the pathway, unwilling to go clothes shopping with his sister, even if it was for his and Magnus's wedding. "Alec." Isabelle called from the front of the entourage, "Keep up!" He glanced up from his trainers to see that Isabelle and the others had already crossed the street ahead of him. He sighed and ran to catch up with his friends, pushing his dark floppy fringe back from his eyes as they entered a four-floored clothes store, Alec found himself stood beside Simon and Jace as Isabelle and Clary moved to stare at the map which indicated what was on which floor.

"You're not really into this, are you?" Jace asked, barely looking in Alec's direction as he shook his head, "Not really. I'm excited for the wedding, sure. But clothes shopping? No." Alec replied, Jace laughed with a nod which showed that he agreed with Alec's opinion. Next, Alec turned to Simon, Simon glanced at him confused for a moment as Alec began to speak, "I guess. I should tell you... I mean... I owe you a lot more than words of gratitude can ever mean." Alec started, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "I mean... you saved my life... so thanks."

Simon smiled, "It's really no problem. You would have done it for any of us."

Alec sighed, "Yeah. But you also saved Magnus. That... that meant a lot... to me."

"You're welcome." Isabelle and Clary returned to the three boys and Alec fell silent, "Where are we headed?" Jace asked, glancing between Isabelle and Clary. "The third floor." Isabelle replied leading the other four towards the escalators.

The minute their feet touched the third floor, Isabelle grabbed Alec's arm and hauled him to the front of their little group. A woman behind the floor's help desk smiled up at them as they approached, "How can I help you today?" She asked pleasantly, her grey eyes darting between the Shadowhunters.

"Yes," Isabelle said, gesturing towards Alec, "it's my brother's wedding in a few weeks and he needs a suit for the big day. I was wondering if you could help us find the perfect suit."

The woman beamed widely at Alec, causing a pink blush to colour his cheeks. He hated being the centre of people's attention. "Congratulations sir. We will find the best suit for your big day. Your soon-to-be wife is very lucky." Isabelle opened her mouth to argue but Alec shook his head at her, "Don't." He whispered, dragging her after the woman who had already headed towards a large rail of suits.

Magnus headed towards the four-storey clothes store on 72nd Street. 'I hope I've gotten the right store now. I've been in almost every store in search of Alec.' He stepped inside the building, he knew from coming in here last week that the suits were on the third floor. He headed up the escalators, walking so he didn't miss seeing Alec in his suits. He reached the third floor and instantly ducked behind a clothes rack as Jace glanced over at the escalators. 'Did he see me?' Magnus thought, peering cautiously over the rack. Jace had gone. 'Oh damn!' Magnus thought, his eyes darting around the floor trying to spot Jace. 'This isn't good. He saw me. Damn.'

"Jace. Keep watch while Alec tries his suit on. Magnus might have followed us." Isabelle ordered as she handed a pile of suits to Alec for him to try on, pushing him lightly in the direction of the nearest changing room. "Yeah okay." Jace sighed, rolling his eyes at Alec before his Parabatai disappeared into the changing rooms, Alec smiled over at Jace and pulled the curtains closed. "Clary, let's go look at the dresses while we wait." Isabelle said, leading Clary towards the dress aisle. "Help me!" Clary mouthed to Jace and Simon who both smiled and waved goodbye to her. Jace glanced around the floor, there was no sight of a glittery war... wait! Jace's eyes darted back to the escalators. 'What was that?' He thought staring in the direction of the escalators, 'I think it's Magnus.' He gestured for Simon to wait there as he went to investigate.

He circled around the back of a packed clothes rack and spotted Magnus peering over the top, looking in the direction of Alec's changing room. "What are you doing here?" Jace asked, crossing his arms over his chest as Magnus jumped.

"Um... I... I was looking for... for a... suit! For Chairman Meow!" Magnus stammered as he whirled to face Jace. "Uh huh. I didn't know that stores had clothes for cats." Jace replied unbelievingly. Magnus's eyes darted guiltily to the floor. 'Got you.' Jace thought as a smirk curved his lips. "You should go. It's for your own good Magnus. You don't want the surprise to be ruined do you?"

"No but I don't want to wait either!" Magnus pouted.

Jace laughed, "You have to wait a few more days. Just a week left. Now go home, magic up an outfit for your cat. And stay home." He led Magnus back towards the escalator and waited until he went down both flights before returning back to the changing rooms where Alec had been stood in a black suit which made his blue eyes shimmer brightly.

"Isabelle!" Jace yelled as he gave Alec a thumbs-up. Isabelle re-appeared with a dress and two suits draped over her arm, Clary behind her with another dress on her own arm. Isabelle gasped, tears filling her eyes. "Well?" Alec questioned pulling at his cuffs nervously, "What do you think? I can try another. I mean... It doesn't have to be this one. There's loads more I can try."

"Alec. Stop rambling." Isabelle ordered, "It's perfect. It does have to be this one." Alec grinned before he headed back into the changing room to change back into his jeans. When he came out dressed back in his casual clothes, Isabelle hugged him tightly before pushing Jace and Simon into their changing rooms to try on their suits.

*****

Once everything had been tried on and brought, the five of them returned back to the Institute, laughing as Jace recounted the meeting with Magnus. Alec spent the whole time blushing as Jace nudged him playfully muttering under his breath, "He really wants you." Isabelle took Alec's suit from him and hugged him again, "I'll see you back here next week to get ready." She smiled, a small tear of happiness dripping down her cheek. Alec nodded, brushing the tear away with his cheek and left to head back to Magnus's apartment.

A/N:

Let the major fangirling or fanboying (depends on who is reading this story!) begin!!!

Because guess what the next chapter is going to be?!! That's right!! THE WEDDING!!!! (Eek! So excited!)

Anyway, clearing up a few things:

1) (I already said this but whatever!) Please DON'T read this unless you have read both CoHF (I am not a spoiler! I refuse to spoil things for you!) and my FanFiction 'No Light, No Light In Your Bright Blue Eyes'!

2) Simon has gained ALL of his memories (that Asmodeus took) back, so that's why he remembers the stuff that happened in No Light, No Light In Your Bright Blue Eyes.

But the wedding!!! (Ahh!) Who's going to fangirl/fanboy over it? I know I will. (Haha. I fanboyed over this chapter too and hardly anything happened!)
