Chapter Twenty Nine - Shiny.
A/N:
I know I'm doing a lot of authors notes at the moment so I'm sorry for that. This will be the last one for a while unless I'm checking on you all. But I just wanted to say thank you all so much for the support and reassurance you have all been giving me over the last few updates. It was genuinely needed and genuinely appreciated.
Magnus and I made some more glittered cookies for you all. 🍪🍪🍪✨✨✨
Also I got my exam results from college yesterday and I got an 'A' for Photography and a 'B' for Graphics. So I improved each subjects by a whole grade compared to my results last night. So my mum took me to the archery range this morning as a celebration treat. Naturally I cosplayed as Alec Lightwood too so it was double the AWESOME!! 🏹🎯
I hope things are going well for you all too!

Chapter Twenty Nine – Shiny.
Magnus flopped back on his bed as he placed his phone away, an arm thrown over his eyes to block out the light. He wished Alec hadn't had to go back to work today, truth be told he genuinely didn't think Alec was ready. Not that he would have told the Shadowhunter that and risked the "I'm a Shadowhunter, it's my job" conversation. Or more likely Alec being really grumpy with him over the next few days, regardless of how endearing Magnus found it. He just wanted to be curled up in bed right now next to the warmth of his Shadowhunter husband with nothing to worry about including his increasing fear that something bad was going to happen. With Alec around that fear disappeared to the back of Magnus' mind allowing him to block it out so that it didn't bother him.
Magnus hurriedly say up, his eyes wide as an idea flew into his mind and buzzed around his head like a swarm of bees. But first he wanted to rearrange the house for when Alec got home. He wanted everyday of their wedding to be special, acting as a constant reminder to Alec about how much he was loved by his warlock. He hurriedly got dressed in a pair of tight black jeans with a sequin purple shirt and black studded blazer over the top, a vibrant grin blooming across his face as he thought about Alec's reaction when he came home to see their apartment all done up beautifully, waiting for the Shadowhunter to walk in the door. He quickly did his makeup, adding a bit more glitter around his eyes and in his hair than usual. Slipping on his boots, Magnus clicked his fingers making the bed behind him as he walked into the living room. He started with the sofa, switching the patterned and scarlet cushions with plain black ones. He smiled as he summoned a pair of sea blue-green sequinned cushions and placed them on each arm with a single black cushion. He then placed a fluffy scarlet circular carpet near the fireplace, making sure he left the vine swing alone, only adding some more black and sequinned cushions to the piece of furniture.
He moved to their dinning table next, replenishing the cream wax candles, ensuring that they were the ones that smelt of blueberries when they burned. They were Alec's favourite. Once they were done he clicked his fingers making a stream of gently glowing lanterns string themselves around their bedroom, reminding him of stars. Turning slowly Magnus took in the decor of the room, smiling as he scattered a few rose petals on their dinning table. It was simple and subtle but he knew Alec would love and appreciate the gesture all the same. Smirking to himself slightly, Magnus clicked his fingers for the last time and a crown and cloak of glitter appeared on top of his neatly styled hair and wrapped around his shoulders. He was the King of glitter and by God was he going to flaunt it.

Magnus made his way down towards Pandemonium. It was early but he still knew that the club would be open and filled with other Downworlders. He would have thrown a party but married life was affecting him and since he had just rearranged his whole apartment for Alec's return he really didn't want all that effort to go to waste. He greeted the bouncer at the door with a wave and a grin before walking up the stairs and into the darkly lit but flashing room. The music pounded through the speakers set up into the ceiling of each room as Magnus made his way towards the bar, removing the glamour around himself. He wouldn't need it here after all. He ordered his favourite cocktail from the bartender using the straw to pick out some of the mini chopped strawberries.
He smiled to himself as he made his way over to his favourite sofa in the joint, chewing on strawberries happily. Sitting down Magnus observed the crowd as they danced along with the pulsing music and vibrant lights. A group of delicate nymphs drifted by smiling over at Magnus with their elegant faces and glowing mismatched eyes. Usually Magnus might have invited them over even if it was just to have some form of company and availability for more drinks. He was in the middle of contemplating it when a familiar blue figure caught his attention. Surprised Magnus called out, "Catarina?!" Magnus' blue skinned friend turned around at the sound of her name and sent him a beaming grin as she moved to sit beside him on the sofa.
"I see you're still living the glittery life." She laughed as she took in Magnus' crown and cloak. Magnus grinned, "Of course! It's what I was born to do! What are you doing in here anyway? Pandemonium was never your scene as you always inclined to remind me when I invited you out."
Catarina sighed, "It isn't. A couple of work mates wanted to come here."
"And now you're here as the third party who doesn't want to dance." Magnus finished, smiling when Catarina nodded. "So how did your meeting with Codex Lynn go?" Catarina asked staring out the corner of her eyes at him with a slight smirk tilting the corner of her lips upwards. Magnus turned slightly in his seat, his eyebrows raised in surprise. "How did you know?" He asked handing his friend a similar drink he had summoned.
Catarina smiled, "Secret girl code. Besides she called me to keep an eye out since most people always drop babies outside hospitals, specifically warlock children." She shook her head at the last part, seeming sad. Magnus could relate to her on that fact. Although he had specifically asked for the files of either a warlock or nephilim child although seeing as not many Shadowhunters abandoned their own children it was more likely that he and Alec had more chance of getting a warlock. Not that he had told Alec that he was looking for a child for them both.
"You still haven't told him have you?" Catarina asked almost reading Magnus' mind. Magnus shook his head, "I want it to be a surprise."
"You know the longer you wait to tell him the more he's going to think that you forgot or don't want a family with him." Catarina stated taking a sip from her drink.
"Relax," Magnus said, inspecting the glittery black nail polish on his fingers for chips, "it has only been one meeting I'll let him know eventually. I just want him to be okay first before we make any major decisions together. Besides Codex told me she'd call me when the files were ready." Magnus paused for second thinking, "I need to talk Alec around to our child being all glittery too." He laughed.
Catarina shook her head laughing, "If it's anything like I can imagine, knowing you, your child is going to be a walking glitter ball full of surprises."
"Damn right!" Magnus laughed, summoning more drinks for him and his friend.

Alec and Jace stepped off the subway in sync with each other. The two Parabatai began to make their way over to the front of the warehouse, taking note of the faint shimmer of the warlock's glamour that she had placed around the building. Holding out his arm Jace didn't even have to speak as Alec's arm was stretched out with his other hand holding out his stele. Jace replenished Alec's runes of stealth, speed, strength and agility and sure footing before handing the stele back to his Parabatai so that he could do the same for the other. Alec started to make his way towards the building, unhooking his bow from over his shoulders when Jace stretched out an arm to stop him, forcing Alec to turn back around to look at his Parabatai. Jace placed his hand over his Parabatai rune. "I've got your back." He said seriously.
Alec smiled, covering his own rune. "And I've got yours."
"We're a team Alec," Jace said, rubbing the back of his neck seeming awkward with this tender moment the two brothers were sharing, although Alec really knew it was because he found it hard to express how he felt, "I'd sacrifice everything for you in a heartbeat even my own happiness if I had too."
"I know." Alec smiled, wrapping an arm around his Parabatai's shoulders. "I'll be careful from now on." Jace grinned seeming to be happy with Alec's response, he let his Parabatai go removing the open look from his face to be replaced with a determined look. "Let's go do our job."
