Chapter Five - Dance With Me Tonight.

The party was already in full swing as Magnus carried Alec over the threshold of their flat to cheers and applause. Alec hurriedly leapt from Magnus's arms with a deep blush, Isabelle flew into her brother's arms hugging him tightly. "Max would have loved to be there," She whispered, "I'm so happy for you." She stepped back and smiled.

"Thanks Iz." Alec replied, smiling as Isabelle quickly hugged Magnus too. Jace brought Clary over to them and grinned. "Congratulations brother." He said with a grin, pulling Alec into a manly hug which involved a lot of back slapping. Clary hugged him too with a smile. "Don't forget Jace! We saw you crying and I do believe it was caught on camera." Alec smiled as Jace blushed.

"Magnus?" Jace said, "I'm going to have to steal your husband from you for a moment, I hope that's okay?"

Magnus shook his head as he wrapped an arm around Alec's waist pulling him closer, "Not particularly. I am a very possessive warlock. I don't like sharing." Alec blushed and Jace laughed, "Well you'll have to share for the moment. Someone wants to meet him."

Jace grabbed Alec's wrist and led him away before Magnus could argue. "Jace! Where are we going?! Who wants to meet me?!" Alec yelled, arching away from one of Luke's pack members as he almost bumped into the werewolf. "Wait and see!" Jace yelled as he continued to drag Alec through the crowds. As soon as they'd reached the corner of the room, Alec realised who had wanted to see him. Cortana. The little girl grinned and ran over to him as she noticed his appearance. Her Parabatai, Elijah, was stood off to the side with his brothers and Cortana's older sister and the Ashwells. "Congratulations!" She yelled over the loud music, Alec grinned.

"You came to the wedding! I can't believe it!"

"Of course I did!" She yelled back, "I wouldn't have missed my friend's wedding!"

"Your friend?" Alec questioned with a smile as Cortana nodded, "Yes! I consider you a friend. Did you not read the book I gave you yet?" Alec shook his head. "Oh, come on! I'll show you!" She grabbed Alec's hand and led him off through the room, "Where did you put it?" She asked, shoving through the crowded room. Alec called, "It's in my room! I'll go get it!" He pulled his arm free from Cortana's iron vice grip and entered his bedroom to fetch the book. He reappeared within seconds and handed the book over to Cortana.

She hurriedly flicked through the pages muttering, "Where is it? Where? Where's the quote I need?" Alec waited patiently while she flicked through the pages. Cortana let out a yell, "Yes! Got it! Here, listen to this. All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king." She closed the book and handed it back to Alec with a smile, "When you figure out the meaning come and find me." She disappeared back into the crowd and Alec lost sight of her. He hurriedly returned the book back to his room and walked through the room to find Magnus looking for him, "Where have you been?" Magnus asked, clutching onto Alec's arms when he spotted the young Shadowhunter.

Alec frowned, "I went to see Cortana. Magnus? What's wrong?" He asked, tilting the warlock's face towards him with a free hand.

Magnus's eyes sparked with tears, Alec frowned. He hated seeing Magnus so upset, "They're are over by the door. I tried to get them to leave. I didn't want you to be upset." He replied.

"Who Magnus? Who is it?"

"Your parents." Alec gulped, taking Magnus's hand in his, "Come on. I'll need you beside me for strength." Alec led Magnus over to the front door to find Jace and Isabelle already there with their arms folded and glares on their faces as they stared at Robert and Maryse. "How dare you come here!" Isabelle yelled, "You don't show up at the ceremony and then you show up here!"

"If Alec finds out that you're here and you upset him I will personally kill the two of you!" Jace snapped.

"Alec has found out." Alec called as he halted behind Jace and Isabelle with Magnus behind him. Jace and Isabelle both whirled to face him.

"Alexander." Maryse started but Alec cut her off, "Get out!" He folded his arms across his chest, "Now!"

"Don't talk to your mom like that!" Robert yelled, Maryse shot her husband a glare, "It's fine! I can handle this." She turned back to face Alec, "I only want to be there for you Alexander."

Alec scoffed as tears stung his eyes, "If you wanted to be there for me why didn't you show up to witness the ceremony?! Why turn up now?! This is to tell me that I'm making a huge mistake in my life. Well, I'll tell you now. I'm not making a mistake. I love Magnus and if you can't deal with that then you get the hell out of my life!" A tear slid down both of his cheeks as he glared at his parents, "Well go!!" He yelled, "Get out!!!" Maryse and Robert turned and left without arguing any more and Alec fell to his knees on the floor. Magnus crouched down beside him, "It's okay baby." He crooned as he brushed away Alec's tears, "They're gone."

"I can't believe that they'd dare to show up here."

"Shush," Magnus whispered, hugging Alec tightly to him as he helped his husband to his feet, "it's okay." Magnus planted a kiss on the top of Alec's head as Alec burrowed his face into Magnus's chest.

"I love you. You know that right? I really freaking love you." Magnus whispered, pressing lips to Alec's neck, Alec shivered. Suddenly the room parted down the middle to reveal the clear dance floor as Jace took a hold of the microphone, "And now we welcome onto the dance floor, the newlyweds. Magnus and Alec Lightwood-Bane!" The room erupted into applause and Alec shrank back, "Oh no." He muttered, Magnus looked down at him, "What's wrong?" The warlock asked.

Alec blushed, "I can't dance." Magnus laughed, Alec mock glared at him, "It's easy." Magnus laughed, "Come on and I'll show you." He led Alec into the middle of the dance floor and they instantly began to dance, with Magnus doing all of the leading. "See told you it was easy." Magnus whispered.

Alec grinned, "For you maybe." He replied as he tripped over his own feet and Magnus caught him, ducking to make it seem like he was tilting Alec towards the floor. Alec blushed as Magnus stared lovingly down at him before whisking him back upright.

Alec grinned as the dance ended and Magnus kissed him passionately in front of everyone, the warlock's hands flew into Alec's dark locks and got tangled within them. Alec smiled against Magnus's lips as the warlock pulled him closer. "Keep it PG guys!" Jace yelled over at them and people laughed, Magnus waved a hand in Jace's direction; a motion which told him to shut up or else. Magnus continued to kiss Alec until the two of them had to pull back for breath with smiles. "I love you." Magnus whispered in Alec's ear. Alec smirked and gave Magnus his reply by copying what Magnus had done earlier and kissed the warlock's neck causing him to shiver. Magnus's eyes had widened as he stared down at Alec who shrugged, "You're not the only one who can make the first move." He smirked.

Magnus smiled, "I'll be expecting you to make the first move more often while we're on our honeymoon then." Alec nodded and replied by kissing Magnus fiercely on the lips.
