Mr Suit
Rosemary had been moved at the age of ten to the Denalis' home in Denali, Alaska. The Cullens knew it would only be a matter of time until Rosemary started noticing something trippy about them.
Rosalie was devastated her baby was being taken away but she made sure even if she wasn't there herself her absence would not be felt.
It so happened, though, that was the time Caius thought to visit. The Cullens were lounging and watching television at low volume. Renesmee was playing piano for her father when Alice lapsed into a sudden psychic vision.
"The Volturi are coming."
Everyone was quiet then panicked.
"Approximation?" Edward asked.
Alice barely had time to answer when Felix smashed open the door and glass scattered on the floor. He grabbed Bella by the throat.
"Don't you dare use your shield or else."
Bella pushed forward her shield until Demetri stood by her husband.
"Or else I'll rip out the child's heart and decapitate little old Edward here."
Edward used his eyes to plead with Bella and she retracted her shield. Caius came in followed by Aro and the twins.
Caius sniffed the air and found no trace of Rosie. He looked at Demetri.
"Master, as I said before she is in Denali, Alaska."
Caius' eyes became gleed.
"Explain this Carlisle," Caius spat out.
Rosalie interjected.
"We sent her away to the Denalis. She's safe."
Caius hissed.
"And who told you to send her away? And yet you have exceeded your own time frame here with that hybrid child. She has not even reached maturity so she is more of a liability than my mate."
Aro held Caius back.
"Our apologies. We were going to move soon and we wanted Rosemary to settle somewhere safer."
Carlisle tried to explain but Caius was not appeased.
"We will check on the girl then if anything we will come back but I'm disappointed...really you should have communicated this. Caius thought something had happened to her."
Caius was less civil.
"If she is being neglected all of you unnatural vampires will burn in hellfire and brimstone."
Everyone cowered. When Aro managed to drag away Caius they travelled quickly to Denali. The Denalis received no prior warning...the Cullens had another threat hanging over their heads.
If they warned their sister clan they were automatic firewood...
Caius entered the Denali home more calmly than he did at their last visitation of the area. Eleazar answered the door. He bowed to his former Master.
"I take it you are here to see the future queen."
Caius rose a brow.
"Carlisle was very thorough about her identity. Come in, she's in the living room."
Caius heard loud clapping, clangs and bangs from there. As he and his coven drew near they saw the bright, shifting lights of the television echoing out.
Carmen sat beside the ten year old. She had her black hair in two buns and she wore a Nike tracksuit and boots. Caius felt his heart warm.
"Rosie?" he asked.
The girl turned to him. She looked at the pink-irised, white haired man quizzically.
"Hi," she said.
Her eyes drifted to the TV.
"Hello, I'm Caius."
"Hey, Caius."
When she spoke his name a vibrant smile overcame him. It shocked Carmen and Eleazar as Caius was hardly one to grin. He never did so with his wife.
"May I talk to you?"
She turned to him.
"Ok, but not without Ms Carmen. I don't know you."
He smiled.
"That's fine."
He sat on the opposite sofa.
"Do you know who your parents are and why you're here?"
"My mom is Ms Rosalie Cullen and my dad Mr Emmett Cullen. They wanted to move houses and do so often but they didn't want to disrupt my education a lot so I'm staying with our cousins."
Caius nodded.
"Are you being treated well?"
The Denalis tensed.
"Yeah, I get three meals a day and snacks and there's always someone to play with me or help with my homework. At home no one really cared but my parents and grandparents."
Caius was angered by the confession but at least she was safe and happy. He excused himself and asked Eleazar to show him her room.
Caius imagined the little girl swinging from her spotless hammock chair. He pushed it gently. Then he inspected the light blue headboard and white duvet with multicoloured pillows. There was a big brownish rug on top of the tiles since it was cold in the game park.
She had a vintage lamp and a light fixture shaped as a star. The curtain rail had a painting of a black forest tree and her pet name, Rosie, etched on the bone coloured wood.
"We let her design her own space. And of course she does chores and cooks....she might struggle in college if she doesn't bother with this now."
Caius sat on her bed and took her scent.
"She doesn't look the happiest but that can be blamed on the Cullens. I approve of and appreciate all your efforts.
When she was four I had to change her room....the Cullens..they didn't care. So, much for liking humans. I'm sure they only liked Isabella due to that Edward's obsession with her...
They neglected her. And it makes me so angry. I would take her but what life can I give her? I don't know anything about children."
Eleazar laughed.
"You hardly tolerated the twins I'm sure discovering your mate was still a toddler was terrifying."
"Detestable actually but everytime I leave her I worry...the Cullens don't have a good track record now."
Eleazar listened as Caius told him of how they left her in the newly weds Bella and Edward's cottage alone; how she was left alone to play as a toddler. And when Emmett and Rosalie were absent they never cleaned her.
She couldn't speak much when she was five...I visited a year later and they had no concrete plans of her education.
"They idolize the hybrid child and make her out to be something special and intelligent but that thing isn't.
If they gave that human girl a chance she would have superceded her a long time ago..."
Eleazar didn't enjoy Renesmee anymore than immortal children ; she was a walking accident waiting to happen and she'd take down an entire species and coven along with her.
"Let's not talk of them. Master we can keep your mate if you both agree.
"Both?"
Eleazar smiled.
"Why, yes of course Rosie's opinion matters most."
The men returned and saw Caius' brother and the twins playing Uno with Rosie. Rosie had won all the games they'd had. Alec wanted to win one, at least.
"Hey, Mr Suit let's play scrabble next."
Caius scowled.
"Who is Mr Suit?"
Rosie pointed at him.
"You are Mr Suit."
