6. Proving (Hak x Reader)
You held your sheated short sword, walking down the coridors of the Hiryuu Castle, humming a song under your nose.
Because of your clumsiness, you stumbled upon your kimono, facing the cold surface of the wooden planks.
You pulled yourself up, wincing from the pain from the touch of your nose.
Someone chuckled next to you and your eyes met the sharp blue ones of the male you had your heart fall for.
Hak had knelt next to you, smiling sheepishly at the sight you alone made.
"How did you do it this time?" He asked, pulling you up.
You shook your head, hiding your face in your hands when you felt that something missed.
"M-My..."
"Here it is." Hak interrupted you, showing your short sword that had a small scratch on the handle of the blade.
"Mmm..." You felt your eyes teary when you saw the damage. After all, this short sword was a relic, given from parents to kids.
You cherished it with all you could.
"To avoide new scratches, I'll be keeping it." Hak simply said, placing it on his left hip.
"Huh?!" You exclaimed, trying to reach for your relic, when Hak placed a finger on your lips to suppress your movements.
"I didn't say I will be keeping it for life. But I'll give it to you when the time comes." He stuck his tongue out at you, making you blush.
Other than that, you agreed. It was for the best of both you and the sword.
--------------
Time passed. You grew into a beautiful woman, with a shiny (h/c) hair and (e/c) orbs. You never fancied the dress princess Yona made you wore. You preffered simple black hakama and a light blue jacket.
Many wondered on your clothing style, but this was comofortable for you enough for the fights you always had with the townsboys outside the Castle.
That's what made you so charming though.
But time changed and suddenly, you were forced to leave the castle with the princess and the Thunder Beast, in order to escape from Soo-Won, who had killed the king (Yona's father).
Now, after some time being, you were together with a group of 5 men, 4 of which were the legendary dragon warriors.
............
You rested your head on the back of a tree, your body lying on its branch, your leg swinging back and forth in the air.
Sighing happily, you could finally rest, when suddenly, someone called you from behind.
"What?" You groaned lazily, opening your (e/c) eyes.
"Can you pick up some fruits for Yoon?" Yona chirped, watching her friend jumping the tree with ease.
"Why me...?"
"Don't you want to?" Yona asked with her eyes shining bright with that light that no one could resist.
"I'm already down. I'll be going." You waved, making your way in the woods.
............
After walking a few miles down the path, where Shin-Ah pointed, you picked up fruits from your liking.
"Yona didn't specify what types of fruits she wanted after all." You chuckled, playing with one of the small fruits, plopping it in your mouth. The sweet taste filled your mouth, making you moan a bit from excitement.
"And what do we have here?"
A few men, possible smugglers, sneered as they approached you.
You had tied your hair up, giving the impression as a man, rather than woman. Especially when your chest was covered with a bandage.
"A boy, wandering around the forests, all alone. How pity..." One of them chuckled. "Now give us all you got."
"Ah, so first we are laughing, then we are serious. I get it, I get it." You smiled, placing the fruits behind you.
"You sure have the guts to talk to us like that, boy!" The other one smacked his fists together.
"Yup." You chuckled lightly.
"Damn you..." The third one charged.
His silly figure made a laughable impression as you jumped above him, kicking him in the head.
The other men, who were still stood on their ground, pulled whatever weapon they had. Some had one or two daggers in hand, the others had long wooden sticks. Each of them charged at you, but you were faster, making your way beneath their legs.
"Rise and shine, darlings." You laughed, eyeing a bee nest, kicking it against the fat one, who only yelled as the bees anger was unleashed upon him.
"This boy has the talent, damn." One of them mumbled.
You chuckled at their clumsiness.
This reminded you of the time you started training.
Suddenly, Hak's face flashed in your mind, making you yelp as you fell on your back side.
You quickly tried to stand up, but one of the sticks was pressed against your neck, preventing you from any sudden movements.
The only thing that could be heard was your hard breathing and the high pulse of the adrenaline you had just a few seconds ago.
"Play time is over." The eldest rised his stick, hitting you in the back of the head.
"Curse..." You mumbled, your vision getting darker and darker.
...........
You woke up from what seemed eternity, eyeing the circumstances you were involved in now.
The men were discussing something important as you heard them whispering.
You tried to hide the fact that you were awake, sharpening your hearing, as you tried to listen carefully to what they had to say.
"Can't we just kill the boy? He didn't bring any goods. In fact, he made two injuries to our men!" One of them slammed his fist in the ground, from what you felt on the ground.
"If we try so, he might trick us and escape. If he tells to the wandering patrols about us, we are screwed." Another objected.
"He won't. Neither will I. Because you won't escape from here."
That voice...
"Hak!" You jolted up, jumping away from the mad that stood next to you, despite your hands being 'locked'.
"We leave you just for once, and you end up being dragged by some group of old men. Huh, what are we gonna do with ya, miss?" Hak joked, releasing you from the ropes.
He pulled something from the inside of his overcoat.
You immediately recongise the object as your child short sword relic.
"I promised that I'd give it to you." He stuck his tongue out, making you blush.
"W-Why... T-Thanks." You stuttered, scratching your head slightly.
"I bet I'll win with more men stricken down than you." He changed the topic, averting his face from you.
"You wish." You said proudly, charging at the small group of men that had formed in front of you.
........
You and Hak were pressed back to back, facing the enemies as they refused to fall down.
"Any plans?" You mumbled, being serious.
"No."
"Shit."
You turned your face away from the men, noticing the cliff that you had stepped on. It was a huge waterfall and no one knew if someone had ever survived this.
"How many men did you take down?" You asked suddenly, making Hak confused.
"Umm... 5? I think. You?"
"7. And let's keep it that way." You mumbled, and despite your feelings, you hugged Hak, pushing both of you down the cliff.
Nonetheless, this situation was risky. You and Hak may had fun at the start, but with every group aproaching, it made it hard for you to keep up with their pace.
.....................
You coughed the water that had entered your lungs, refusing to open your eyes. Your body felt heavy and the only thing you wanted to do - was rest.
"H-Hak?" You coughed, searching with your hands for his body.
Suddenly realising why your body was heavy, you trying to calm your beating heart.
Slowly, you opened your (e/c) eyes, waiting for your vision to clear out, seeing that the Thunder Beast had lied unconscious on top of your body.
He was covering almost every part of your body, your hand and head being an exception. You could feel his well-toned body, result from the endless training and fights he did all these years.
"Damn me and my ideas." You chuckled, closing your eyes again.
It was almost night and the only light you had was the moonlight that shined bright against the water.
Too exhausted to move your body away from the ex-General of the Wind Tribe, you just tried to adjust the weight upon your chest.
"This should do the trick." You sighed with your pinkish as a strawberry cheeks.
........
You woke up from groaning coming from your left side. Lazily opening your eyes and stretching yourself in that direction, your lips touched a pair of somewhat cold, wet ones.
"Kyaaaaaaaah!" You screamed, jumping away from the body that lied next to you.
Hak only started in amusement, his cheeks rose.
"Umm... I.... Sorry." You had your head down watching your small steps.
............
"Where were you?!" Yona yelled, reaching from the other end of the forest where her two childhood friends stood in an awkward distance.
"Well, I got caugt in a fight again. This monkey came to save me and ruined my plans for a victorious return and yeah. Basically, this is it." You explained, smiling.
"Victorous return? If I wasn't there, you'd not survive the next day!" Hak pouted, his arms crossed.
"It ain't true! After all, I had 7 men down. You had only 5." You challenged him.
"That's because you hugged me and pulled me down the cliff!" He whined.
"I didn't hug you!" You yelled.
"You did."
"I didn't!"
Yona watched in awe, together with the rest of the group your small challenge - argument - expressing different opinions.
"Seems these two like each other a lot." Jae-Ha mumbled, making the two of you freeze.
"We don't, Ryokuryuu!" You hid your red cheeks, making everyone chuckle.
"Knock it off, Droopy-Eyes!" Hak tied his tongue a few times before he could say the sentence clearly, a sure sign that he is embarrassed too.
"Can we tie them together?" Kija chuckled darkly, much to the surprise of the others.
"Zeno approves!" The Yellow dragon exclaimed happily.
"Nu-huh, Zeno doesn't." You waved your hands.
.....
That following nigtht, you couldn't stop your heart from beating fast, preventing you from getting any sleep.
Walking around the camp, you noticed that not only you are bothered by your own thoughts.
Hak had sat down the edge of rock, the moon shining just on top of his face, making a contrast of his manly features. The village that stood beneath made the picture more relaxing, with all the lights on and the streets still crowded with people.
"What are you up to, General Hak?" You saluted jokingly, sitting next to him.
Your short sword clinged on the surface, making the sound quite pleasent for your ears.
"Just bothered, why ask?"
"Same situation. And I can't get any sleep." You sighed, looking at the rest of your comrades that lied peacefully. "Look at these kids, sleeping however they want." You chuckled.
"It's strange when you say the word."
"Hey! I can kick you, you know! You've fallen from a cliff already. Don't make me repeat it." You growled.
"(Y/N)?"
"Yes?" You looked at the moon.
For you, it was a symbol of a peaceful night.
"What the Droopy-Eyes said earlier... About us two, liking each other... What do you think of me?" Hak suddenly turned to face you.
Even the darkness couldn't hide your cheeks that now radiated heat.
"Well... Ever since we were little, I.... I have admired your strength and figting style..."
"Not that." He interrupted you, grabbing you by the chin.
"I mean, about me... as Hak. A man. What am I, in your eyes?" He didn't let your (e/c) eyes avert from his striking blue ones.
"I.... I.... I have.... I-I liked you from a long time... I don't... I didn't know how to..." You stuttered, completely broken down.
Ever since you were average kids, you liked him.
And ever since each of you grew as an adult with striking features, obvious for everyone, you thought you'd never succeed in making an impression in his heart.
The females that looked at him with... it wasn't love, nor any type of emotion.
It was lust.
They wanted him for the night.
You never actually knew if he had an afair with a woman, but the thought of that always tore a piece of your heart.
And since Soo-Won was now your enemy, you've been constantly trying to avoid contact with Hak, because...
You were scared that you'd start being clumsy in front of him again.
You wanted to prove, to both him and yourself that you were a strong woman, capable of handling everything by herself.
That's why you always stood away from the group, that's why you always slept whenever you had the chance to (on top of a tree of course).
"I sound like a coward..." You whispered under your nose.
Hak didn't answer. But he didn't release you from the grip he had on your chin.
He slowly came closer.
And closer.
Inches away from your face.
This was something you had dreamed of when you were younger.
Being kissed by your child crush.
Lovely, isn't it?
"(Y/N)..." He whispered, before pressing his lips on yours.
His lips, this time warm roamed inside your mouth, tongues fighting for dominance.
Eventually, you decided to give in and accept defeat as he continued pressing you deeper for a kiss.
"In my eyes, you were a fine woman, proved herself enough with both beauty and power. This is what I have searched for long time ago. And it made me extremely happy to know you were just what I wanted. And extremely sad that I couldn't... tell you."
You smiled sweetely, kissing the tip of his nose.
"Don't get so soft, Beast. Someone migt mistaken you for a softie, rather than the mighty Hak." You joked.
He stuck his tongue out at you, pulling you in a loving embrace as the two of you watched the sky, filled with stars, each holding a different meaning.
