~!Naruto Birthday Special!~
A lot of you might or might not know, today, October 10th, is Naruto Uzumaki's day of birth! Even if you didn't know, hopefully you do now, and enjoy this reader insert one shot (that I'm writing on the fly actually :p)!
Nothing but wooshes of scattered wind could be heard through the night, everyone knew what had happened, and they couldn't take the chance of letting that tragedy come over them the same night. No one would wish to come across that ominous chakra again, unless they were, say, Madara Uchiha, or maybe Minato Namikaze. But least thought of all, was that the poor child to be the childhood friend of some Kirigakure princess would have the notorious Nine Tailed Fox Demon biji sealed within the hollows of their soul.
~time skip (more like score skip lol)~
PS: a score is 5 years I think but don't listen to me I'm an unintelligent butt nugget
*yawn* *crack* *groan* *smack*, little feet pitter-pattered across the floor, finally awakening at the thought half hour after they were supposed to have.
The silky turquoise robes decked across the shoulders of this child could easily identify her. And definitely so could the servant. "Young Princess (Y/N)! Young Princess! You've been late to the grandmaster's educational hearing!" But the kid didn't care about that. What they cared about was that they hadn't eaten anything in a little over 10-12 hours. So she'd eat before she talked to the likes of him.
Ignoring the pleads of her most "trusted" (pfttt trusted my ass u supposed to be an advisor or something boi) servant, who, really never did any serving, she strolled down with her short little legs to the kitchen table and sat down on the velvet cushioned chairs. The servant sighed, getting up towards the oven to make her favorite breakfast - (insert favorite breakfast) and a pan fried egg with the yolk still running.
Life couldn't be better for 4 year old Princess (Y/N), but then again it could get worse.
~time skip to late that night~
Sure, she may not have been the most indefinitely intelligent child in the nation, but she had the willpower and intelligence to start running for her goddamn life. She understands what she should do when she becomes a fugitive on the run. She knows what to do when her "trusted servant" gets held at knife point. That little 4 year old child knows what to do when high ranking ninja plan a fucking coup d'etat and she ends up having to take the emergency backpack and run as fast her little foot long legs can take her to. It's just, no one knew where she would go. But it depended on where the wind would take her, for you see when she took that emergency road to the capital of the main feudal lord, through only light of moon a person is easy to be swindled into taking the turn of death.
~time skip to rescue~
It was over? Was it really? She wasn't sure. All she could feel was how she missed the fluffy fleece and cotton blankets upon her heated water bed. But she didn't - no, couldn't - worry about that any so longer. She couldn't call this "rescue". She couldn't say that she had "thanked" her "hero". Because she had no hero. That man only wanted to take his paycheck and go sit on his couch to do whatever he pleased. No one cared this child was 4. No one cared to check her background. The only one who even noticed her was the one who was never noticed, even then only because they felt the same.
As the years went on by, they exchanged names, pasts, secrets finally unraveling from their tongues like thread from a spindle. Fast forward to present day, Naruto runs up to her and screams, "(Y/N)-chan, (Y/N)-chan, it's my birthday! Today is the 5th anniversary of the day I was born, don't you think that's cool?"
She simply answered with a chuckle and dug her hands through the lightly greasy strands of hair. She liked to wash it as often as possible, but most of the time she had to save up an awful lot to even get by lunch.
"That sounds great, Naruto! Come on, let's go to the candy shop, my treat."
The rest of the day once they separated all she heard was scorn. They sniffles and teared, and spoke of stories talking about some demon that ravaged their home land. But she had no remembrance of that.
"Why are you saying things about Naru-kun's birthday! You guys are super mean, today is really important to him and everyone else is saying that his birthday is tragic!! Do you really hate him that much? Huh? It's really not a bad day, just let him be happy for once!!!!", (Y/N) yelled in defense for her friend.
People were still so cruel to the two, separating them from each other when they finally managed to graduate the academy, their teams didn't even come in contact all that time, but they managed to keep together. When the chūnin exams began, (Y/N) decided to pull back in hopes of giving Naruto a higher chance of getting through, though they were in vain. Even when Sasukw left she was his shoulder to cry on.
But apparently it wasn't enough.
He still ended up pushing her away, I mean, he had the expense to do that now that he had gained new friends. He could afford to forget about her, she had already done enough to help move the plot along, right?
She could never have been more hurt.
And so her thoughts started to move onto someone else in the meantime, someone that wouldn't push her away. Maybe Chōji? No. He was friends with Naruto. Try to mentor Konohamaru for a bit? Nope. Still friends with Naruto. Try for a friendship with Ino, or maybe Temari? Neither would work, they also have ties with him too. Every single person you could possibly think of had in some way shape or form a friendship with the one you so badly didn't want a friendship with anymore.
And so she stayed alone. And honed her skills as a ninja alone as well.
The next time they met was on the battlefield. This ninja war was even bloodier than the last. You saw the way he looked at Hinata. You knew you'd never be looked at the way he did towards her. Those aquatic orbs would fill with a sort of compassion and soft fondness no one had ever even known could exist. And it hurt so bad. So she just kept fighting. At times just giving up and letting her teammates help her instead, pretending to have passed out.
And fast forward to the actual, exact moment you are in. Right now. Th date? October 10th, the day that you will finally leave this world. The day you can finally show him how you feel. You pushed Neji aside, telling the hit for Naruto and Hinata, and immediately felt a bursting pain. Everywhere. And he was holding you now. Right now.
Now his eyes filled with sadness. He hadn't even realized you were here. He thought you'd left the village to be a traveler like you'd said you'd do once you could finally leave the village by yourself. But you stayed. You stayed for him.
And the only way you'd leave is by death, but that can definitely be arranged too.
"(Y)..(Y-Y/N)-chan? I thought you left me... Where did you.. Where did you go after that?"
You took a slow shallow breath, and let out a deep chuckle. With it came a spurt of bright red liquid, signaling it to be a fresh portion of oxygen rich blood. "I never really left, if you haven't noticed whiskers,"
He was shocked. You had even used your old nickname for him. After you returned to him, you just suddenly... Go away again. He didn't understand.
Using your final and most powerful jutsu, clairvoyance, you pushed all your memories into his head, and with that you just hoped he knew how you felt and took your last breath.
*snap*
(Y/N) sprung up from the warm bed with no hesitation, beads of sweat rolling from her hair line down to who knows where, and scared her lover next to her when she bolted forward in her haste.
"Y/N/N? You ok?" Asked Naruto, confused as to why you had gotten up so quickly.
You took a shaky breath and exhaled carbon dioxide with a rough push from your lungs. That was certainly a vivid dream, you thought. It felt now almost as if something were missing from your soul.
"Yeah. Fine, sorry bout that.."
"Don't scare me like that, alright? You scared me a whole lot and I love you too much not to be worried."
You simply nodded your head, pecking his cheek and going back to bed.
Sorry this is a day late now! Hope you liked it, total of 1532 words!
