Chapter 7
I woke up on the floor, face down.
I pushed myself up with difficulty but managed to look around.
I was still in the Counsellors house...
Akame!
I tried my hardest but managed to get to my feet, leaning on a random pillar that was nearby I stumbled around.
My entire body ached like crazy.
The floor was still littered with the dead bodies or the fallen guards.
I put a hand on my heart and gave a short prayer for the soldiers.
I bet they had families that will miss them.
But I kept stumbling along looking for Akame or even Kurome.
Thankfully I found them both, unconscious on the floor.
I put my hand on their necks to check their pulses.
They're both still alive...
Thank goodness.
I have work to do.
I contemplated what to do...
I could try and get help, but which side...
I don't think Akame would kill an unconscious Kurome, yet Kurome would instantly kill Akame given the chance.
So that's probably best case scenario.
Thankfully what I wanted came to fruition as Akame was the first one to get up.
She let out a gasp as she gripped her head, using her sword as leverage to get to her feet.
I gripped her hand and she let out another gasp in panic before realising it was me.
"Y-Y/N!" She said pulling me into a quick hug before letting me go. "I thought you died!"
"Huh?" I wondered but I didn't have time to ask what she meant. "Get out of here, I will deal with Kurome."
The sister behind me slowly showed signs of waking up and I saw Akame show a conflicted face.
"Please." I begged and she finally gave in.
"You owe everyone an explanation." She said before jumping out of the window and running away.
I picked up the unconscious Kurome and carried her downstairs, careful not to trip up on the bodies.
We'd failed our mission.
The counsellor was dead before we even arrived.
I stared at Kurome's sleeping face as I started the long walk back to the Palace, she was really cute.
I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind as I continued my journey.
~~~~~~
Halfway back Kurome started to wake up.
"Morning sleepy head." I said as she opened her eyes.
"Huh!" She squeaked as she shook trying to get out of my grip.
"Stop moving!" I said and she calmed down slightly. "Let's get back to the Palace and you can get checked out. You was out for a long ass time."
She continued to stare at me with a look of horror, kind or creeping me out.
"What is it?" I finally asked as my patience wore thin.
"You... what are you?" She asked and it confused me a lot.
"What do you mean?" I knew what she meant, I don't remember it cleary, but I didn't want to.
I was a monster.
"You turned into a... Demon..." She said quietly, looking away for the first time in a while.
...
"There is something I've been keeping from you all, I'll explain it when we get back to the Palace." I sighed, ending any more questions she might have had.
~~~~~~
After a long walk, a throughout check up and a hella long debrief, I managed to be alone with Kurome again.
"I need you to keep this a secret..." I said quietly, making sure no one else was listening.
Kurome nodded her head as she quietly ate a cookie I'd handed her.
"I'm-"
~~~~~~
It was midnight and I lay in my bedroom at the Palace.
I didn't have the energy to sneak out back to Night Raid.
I was in so much pain after today.
I just had to stop Kurome and Akame from fighting...
Why though?
If one of them died it would've made it easier...
But I couldn't bare to see any of them die.
...
It's too late to be thinking about that.
However as I slowly feel my consciousness fade I hear a light knock at my door.
"Come in." I say sleepily and I see Seryu enter my room. "Can I help you?"
She states at me for a moment before running over to me and hugging me tightly.
She was trembling.
"Are you okay?" I said, obvious sympathy filling my voice.
"I-I was so worried!" She said, crying into my chest.
Ah, so that's it.
I lightly rubbed her head and lay her down in the bed next to me.
"I'm not going anywhere." I whispered to her.
I felt myself falling asleep due to the new heat source in my bed.
And soon after, Seryu followed my lead...
~~~~~~
I woke up with morning to a heavy knock on my door.
I tried to get up and answer it but I couldn't move.
When I managed to wake myself up enough I saw Seryu asleep on my arm.
She was using me as a pillow, and she was really comfy.
And might I add, very cute.
I removed my arm, careful not to wake her up, and headed to the door to see who it was.
When I opened it I saw Wave standing there looking sort of panicked.
"Have you seen Seryu, I can't find her anywhere." He asked and I scratched my chin.
"Yeah, she's asleep in here." I opened the door more and showed him the asleep guard in my bed.
He coughed, a slight blush showing on his cheeks. "Ah, sorry for bothering you."
He ran off towards the dining room and I chuckled to myself.
Innocent kid.
It was probably best though I get dressed and leave, Akame is going to kill me if I don't explain soon.
~~~~~~
Again, with cliffhangers.
Y/N, just tell us the truth too!
Oblivion, fading out.
