Chapter 1- Meet The Gang! (REWRITTEN)

Person who has obviously never experienced a lick of College life writes a College AU

-

Your new dorm room wasn't exactly the peak of luxury, but it had a bed, heating, and good company: all the things you would need to be able to call some place home. The few well-loved belongings that were truly yours were organized neatly, and the rest of the space was occupied by the things your new housemates had given you to use.

Speaking  of your roommates, they were a big plus.

You turned at the sound of a soft knock on your door.

"...Come in?"

Eliza Schuyler popped her head in. "I was wondering- Gah! Why is your fan so strong?"

"Sorry!" You sheepishly turned the small desk
fan the other way.

Tucking the stray strands of her sleek, dark hair neatly back in place, she smiled.
"Its all good! I just hope you don't catch a cold, that little thing really packs a punch."

"Don't worry, I'm fine."

She nodded, surveying the room. "I just thought I'd come to check up on you. How's it going?"

As the two of you shared small pleasantries, Eliza walked around rearranging things in your quarters. You watched, amused, as she'd apologize for sticking her nose in your business, and then go right back to doing it  mere seconds later.

"I need to clear your floor, Y/N, you're going to trip and hurt yourself sooner or later! "

Domestic life was never quite your style. It was often heralded as comfortable, but boring, but maybe, it was the unfamiliarity that made you find the whole experience quite entertaining.

"Don't laugh, I'm being serious!"

After a little while, she left with a wave and another smile, reminding you about the classes you had to attend today.

-

You: Hey El

ELizard: Hey :)

You: HAHAHA ALL GOOD DW

Sometimes you still had trouble believing that the Schuyler sisters weren't just angels sent from heaven. Even when you refused to stay with them, opting for a more... freedom-filled lifestyle (The freedom of what? The freedom to sleep in cold, musty nooks and crannies in alleys and rotting wooden park benches around the city was just so enticing, apparently.) They had always made it very clear that they'd always be there to help you in any way possible.

Though they couldn't do much about your actual situation at the time, because their father always seemed to view anyone who didn't own 50 luxury cars as vermin.

"I feel like your dad is like, a robot. Does he even eat?"

"I feel like you might be right. Hey Liza!"

"Hey Peggy."

"Do you know what dad has for breakfast? Diamonds?"

"Probably souls," she replied, not looking up from her sewing.

When Philip Schuyler (finally) passed, finished were the days where the most the sisters could do involved Peggy sneaking out of the window and offering you the gourmet meals she'd snuck from the kitchen with a devious grin, and Angelica threatening to drag you into their house by force so you wouldn't sleep in the rain.

"What is it this time?"

"Damn, how do you always hear me coming?"

"You're about as graceful as an 3 legged elephant, Pegs. What the hell is that."

"I don't know! Fucking frog intestines or something? Dad always orders the weirdest stuff. Rich people things I guess."

"Told you, it's cause he isn't human."

With the eldest sister being old enough to manage their newfound wealth, they could finally stand at your side and offer you a life they always believed you deserved.

Which is how you found yourself on a free ride to King's college, all expenses paid. After years of being basically homeless, somehow graduating with flying colors from a virtual school, the experience felt surreal.

-

"You got a problem, Jeffershit?"

"You got a thing for horses, Mulligan?"

"CAN YOU STOP WITH THAT? WHERE DID THAT EVEN COME FROM?"

The taller man leaned over to his friend sitting quietly beside him.

"Don't believe a word he says. Bro was definitely popping boners watching My Little Pony as a young lad."

"Oh for fucks sake! Can we go ONE day without doing this?"

Angelica slammed the lecture hall door behind her and came over to where you sat on the sidelines, squeezing you in a brief hug.

"You actually came!"

"What, did you think I wouldn't?"

"Yeah."

You feigned hurt, frowning, and she laughed, grabbing your arm and pulling you up.

"Come on now."

"Where are you taking me?" You protested weakly.

"It'd be rude to not introduce yourself, dear. I'm about to change your life."

She smiled as you trailed after her towards the group of friends, but she had a steely grip on your arm and a vaguely threatening look in her eyes.

You are going to make friends. Whether you like it or not.

You sighed. "Yes, mom."

The same tall, curly haired man from earlier was the first to take notice, and drawled out in a Southern accent that wrapped around your ears pleasantly.

"Sorry 'bout the commotion, boss lady. Some people are just so difficult these days."

Then his eyes slid past Angelica to land on you. They widened for a split second, and he shot you a flirtatious grin, and his voice became as smooth as honey.

"Of course, I wouldn't have dared to act so brashly if I knew there were such gorgeous girls around."

Angelica rolled her eyes. "Y/N, this is-"

"Hey darlin', I'm Thomas." He glared at Angelica and took your hand and brushed his lips against your knuckles. You raised an eyebrow.

"Oh well alright, I'm-"

"What is this, the 18th century? Get a grip, man. Hi, I'm John Laurens!"

His curly hair was tied in a loose ponytail at the base of his neck that flowed over his shoulders and bounced as he shot over to where you were seated, snatched your hand away from Thomas and shook it enthusiastically.

You matched him with a little smile of your own, and his  eyes, strikingly green, seemed to light up even more.

"Y/N L/N."

"Y/N! Thats cool. Is this your class right now?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Brrrrah! Brrrrrah!"

John wrinkled a freckled nose and smacked his friend on the shoulder.

"Herc. You're embarrassing."

"Oh, shit! Uh, heya, I'm Hercules. Mulligan."

You nodded. "Y/N. Nice to meet you, Hercules." The corners of your lips curled up in amusement. "So," you drawled slowly. "you and horses, huh?"

You only had a moment to process his mortified expression before hearing a peal of rich, pleasant laughter erupt from behind you.

"I like you already, sweetheart." Suddenly, Thomas was right behind you, his warm, solid chest colliding with the back of your head. He smelled of cinnamon.

You tensed up and opted to move aside, gesturing towards the seat so he could sit beside you instead.

"What an honor." You muttered.

You got to know the people who were left, Lafayette, the Frenchman with a million names, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson's best friend,

"And this is Jemmy."

"My name's James Madison. Don't call me Jemmy."

Thomas leaned over to whisper to you, "You can call him Jemmy."

"Hey Jemmy. I'm Y/N."

The ever collected and charismatic Aaron Burr,

"Nice meeting you, Y/N. I'm-"

"Aaron Burr! Sir!"

Burr winced. "Hi, Hercules."

He caught you shooting him an inquisitive glance. "Ah...You can just say Aaron. Or Burr. The sir isn't part of it."

And finally,

"Hamilton! And here I thought you enjoyed this class."

"Shut it, Jeffersnot. You try being here on time every day while doing 3 different majors."

"3?"

He beamed at you. "Yep. Bachelor's in accounting, law, and political science. I don't think we've met before, by the way. Alexander Hamilton, at your service."

Thomas rolled his eyes. "Oh, woe is me, I do so much work and I have such a hard time not only showing up to class after the lecture is over. Pity me, poor little me! Nobody is making you triple major, you overachieving moron."

You grinned.

"Y/N L/N."

"Oh shut up, Thomas. As if you're not late basically everyday from jerking yourself off in the mirror. Pleasure to meet you by the way, Miss L/N."

"Ah, but you see, when I'm tardy, it's called being fashionably late. When its you, you're just... late."

"I'm Thomas Jefferson! I am sexy and hot and I love looking in the mirror! Oh I'm Thomas Jefferson! Wow Thomas, you looked so good in your 50th outrageously priced magenta button up today! Wow thanks Thomas! Ohh I'm Thomas Jefferson! I sleep around because the only person I could truly love is myself! Ohhh shit I'm going to suck my own dick now! I'm-"

Thomas slapped his hand over Alexander's mouth, his face burning as you tried not to laugh.

-

"You seem like a sensible, smart person, Miss Y/N. So what are you doing with Jefferson?"

You turned to glance at Thomas, and  back at Alexander.

"I mean... I didn't put him there?"

-

"Hey, so... what was the lecture on?"

"I'm going to be completely honest with you. I have no idea." You turned to Thomas, who flashed you a smile and a shrug.

"Wrong person to ask, sweetheart."
