Chapter 49: Compound 2

My body froze as I found where all the commotion was coming from.

What is this... Heroes are here?

I could barely even breathe as I saw Shota lying unconscious on the ground. Chisaki was fighting Midoriya.

Sir Nighteye, a hero I had never met but still recognized, had been impaled by one of the giant spikes in the ground.

And not a League member in sight.

Did they set me up? What the hell were we doing here? Why did Keigo and Shigaraki plan for today?

I was replaying all of the memories and conversations with them to see if I could piece it together, but I couldn't.

I was clueless.

I heard a loud cry from down the hallway, and then a soft voice mumbling. It sounded like a child.

Whatever was going on here wasn't my problem. I came from the kid, and it looked like she needed rescuing now more than ever.

I took off to try and follow the voice, and soon came across a small trail of blood.

I saw the girl in the distance along with someone kneeling helplessly across the floor next to her.

I sprinted over and the girl looked at me with wide, terror-filled eyes.

"Hey, hey," I said softly as I crouched down. "I'm not going to hurt you."

She flinched when I brushed her hair back gently, "Can you tell me your name?"

She was hesitant as she looked between me and the blond boy on the ground. I hadn't paid much attention to him before, but now that I was here I looked at him.

He was from UA. One of the top third years. Shit. Would he recognize me?

"Run, Eri. You have to get out of here," he mumbled in a dazed confusion.

I sighed as my instincts took over. My hero instincts. It was really annoying how I was equally a villain and a hero.

It felt like my body just reacted on its own depending on the situation I was in. I really didn't know how to choose a side. They both felt like me.

I picked up the UA student and sat him down against the wall. His eyes were barely open as he held his bleeding side.

His costume was ripped and a mess, tears escaping his eyes.

"W-who are you?" he stuttered out.

"Mirio?" I finally remembered his name. "What happened here?"

"Can you save him, miss?" the girl looked at me.

I just nodded my head as I looked at her.

"Mirio, this is going to hurt ok?" I had never tried it before, but logically speaking, it should work...

If I could manipulate blood, then I should be able to use that to close up his wound right?

If not, I would just sacrifice my own escape and get him to a real doctor.

I took a deep breath as I pressed my hand over the large gash, focusing all my energy on the blood around his open wound rather than on all the blood in his body.

He let out a sharp yell as I watched the blood from both sides of the hole start to move towards one another, hardening over once they connected.

It hurt like a bitch for me too, and I was out of breath by the time it was finished.

He would need a hell of a lot more medical attention than that, but at least he wouldn't die here.

He looked at me more clearly as he stopped bleeding out, "A-Amaterasu?"

"Mirio, what is going on?"

"We came..." he flinched in pain. "We came to rescue Eri."

I looked over at the small girl who was crying now, "Is that your name sweetie? Are you Eri?"

She nodded, "They're all dying. Because of me."

"No Eri! That isn't true!" Mirio called out. He was shaking and shivering now, sweating like crazy.

Dammit.

I took of my long sleeve shirt, and began to use it to wipe off his sweat. If he didn't get actual medical attention fast, he'd be in some serious trouble.

"Mirio, you have to stay awake. Focus on your breathing."

He kept forcing his eyes to flutter back open every time they began to roll back.

"Eri," I said softly as I looked at her. "Will you trust me?"

"Are you a good guy? Or a bad guy?"

"She's a good guy, Eri," Mirio said before spitting up blood. I wanted to cry as I wiped it from his mouth.

I wasn't a good guy, but I was doing something good right now so that would have to be enough.

She looked at me with sad eyes, "I trust you, Ama—Amasu."

I smiled as she tried to say my name, "Ama is fine."

She ran up and gave me a hug, and I held her close, rubbing her back gently.

"You're going to save us?"

I sighed, "Yes, Eri. I'll save you."

There was another large blast. This one a lot worse than before.

"Deku," Eri cried out as she broke away from my hold. "He's going to die! They're going to kill him because of me!"

The girl took of running back towards where the fighting had occurred.

"Seriously," I muttered to myself as I looked back at Mirio's almost unconscious body.

I swooped him up and threw him over my shoulder before chasing after the girl. He groaned out in pain as I ran, but I didn't really have any other option.

"Sorry Eri," I said as I scooped her up in my other arm right before she entered the battlefield once again.

"No! I have to get to Deku!!" she cried out, and everyone snapped their eyes towards us.

I stomped my foot to activate a large boulder to shoot through the ceiling of where we stood, creating an escape path to outside.

Holding onto both of them, I forced myself to fly upwards. I wasn't used to flying with this much weight on me.

Plus I had just tried something new with my quirk, so I felt like I was going to collapse back down at any moment.

We finally made it to the street, and I looked to see a large group of heroes and the police force in the distance.

I set Mirio gently onto the ground and looked at Eri as I placed her down beside him.

"Eri, I have to leave now. What do you want to do? Do you want to go with me? Or do you want to stay?"

She glanced over to where Midoriya and Overhaul were about to fight at street-level.

"I have to help Deku!!" she took off in a full sprint towards him once again.

The heroes and police force were running towards me now, and Eri had made it to Midoriya. I knew he would protect her, so I decided to leave her here.

She was away from the Shie Hassaikai, and I knew Overhaul would soon be defeated. With all these people here, how could he not be?

Now was as good a time as any to escape. I watched as Midoriya began to battle Overhaul, Eri on his back.

My eyes widened as I watched her activate her quirk after Midoriya used All for One. She reversed all of his damages? What kind of quirk did she have?

I took out the gun I had grabbed from the Eight Bullets guys earlier and looked at the red bullet.

I grabbed one out and cracked it against the sidewalk. It was made with blood?

Overhaul was using Eri's blood to create quirk-deleting bullets?...

This shit is way too messy. There was officially nothing more I could do to help.

I left the gun on the ground so the police and heroes could use it for further inspection and took off up into the sky right before the large group of people reached me.

I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I had to get out of here.

As I flew over the top of one of the nearby buildings, there was a strange sensation in my body. Suddenly, I was free falling the 10feet down to the nearest rooftop.

I landed harshly and tried to roll out of it. What just happened!?

I tried again to fly but couldn't. Did a bullet hit me? Wouldn't I have felt it?

I looked around frantically, and for just a moment, my eyes caught the sight of a red glow in the distance.

Shota? He erased my quirk... How the hell did he even see me? And how did he know it was me!?

I stared back at him intensely, fuming at the fact I was trapped here for the time being.

"Ama!!!" a yell came from a little ways away. It was Eri's small voice but it was filled with terror.

She was calling out...for me?

"Ama!!! Save us!!!"

I looked back at Shota. Even from this distance I could tell he was as shocked as I was.

Come on, Shota. Let me go. Let me have my quirk back. She needs me. Midoriya must need me.

I knew he was only hesitating because he didn't know whether I would go help her or try to escape again...

Or return to the League if he knew that's where I had been. I wasn't sure how he would've known that, but I had a feeling he did.

After a few moment, his eyes returned back to normal and I felt the power of my quirk surge through my veins once again.

I'm coming, Eri.
