Chapter 43: Alliance
Dabi pulled me into the apartment after Keigo had popped into view. He shut the door and locked it quickly.
"Did anyone see you coming here?" Keigo asked coldly.
I walked towards him to get in his face. "You're a snake, Keigo," I hissed at him.
"Me? Does Aizawa know where you are?" he smirked.
My breath was heavy and uneven as I stared into his eyes. I was moments away from letting my rage consume me.
The audacity he had to constantly be one of the ones questioning my loyalty. Questioning my intentions.
And yet he's here, right after I tried to kill my father.
And he even had the nerve to help stop me. Is this why? Did he need him alive for whatever the hell he was over here plotting?
I know I was here too, but I wasn't here to put anyone but myself in danger.
Was he the UA leak? Was he how Dabi knew where to find me at the festival?
"Careful, Y/n. Wouldn't want you to do anything you'll regret."
I looked down and noticed the small amount of fire now swirling around my arms.
I had so many thoughts swarming around that I hadn't even realized it. My emotions must have triggered my fire quirk.
I quickly retracted it and looked back at Keigo then Dabi.
I shook my head, "This was a mistake."
I immediately turned to the door, but as I reached for the knob, a feather pierced into my hand.
"Sorry little chick. You're not going anywhere."
I clenched my jaw as I plucked the stupid ass feather from my flesh.
I whipped around to look at him once again. Blood Manipulation 10%.
"Do you have a death wish?" I snarled as I watched his entire body tense up with pain.
I was impressed by the way he handled it. He must be a lot stronger than he looks.
"Alright, Y/n. You've made your point," Dabi called out in annoyed tone.
I walked slowly up to Keigo, never breaking my eye contact. As I stood in front of him, I let go of my grasp and watched him drop down, gasping for air.
I smirked as I lifted his chin up to look at me, "Want to tell me why you're here?"
He spit out a small amount of blood, "You first, chickadee."
"I came for Dabi," I said plainly as he got back to his feet.
He smiled as he leaned in, "Me too."
I smacked a glass off the counter next to us, letting it shatter on the ground, "Stop playing games, Keigo!!"
Dabi sighed, "Why are you always breaking shit? And it's always my cups.."
I couldn't help it as my tears returned. Today had been beyond emotional. I was so messed up in the head that I ended up at Dabi's old apartment.
Now finding Keigo here, I didn't have an ounce of hope left.
"Kei..." I trailed off in barely a whisper so that only he would hear. His face dropped the smug look, and he looked just as hurt as I did.
"I'm sorry, chickadee," he mumbled out as he carefully grabbed my hand.
But I trusted you. You kept me safe when no one else could. Is this why he stopped talking to me when he said he went to Hosu?
"Mm, look who it is... I was not expecting this," I looked to see Shigaraki had joined us, and I closed my eyes in regret.
Not only was I confused and hurting with so many questions. Now I was literally stuck in an apartment with the League of Villains.
And I had no one to blame but myself.
"You two seem close," he smirked and I noticed Keigo and I were still holding hands. I quickly retreated my arm. "Amaterasu, what brings you?"
I looked over at Dabi who did not seem pleased about me holding onto Keigo.
"She just asked me to fuck her out in the hallway," Dabi answered coldly.
I wanted to be pissed that he said that, but I deserved it.
"You did what?" Keigo snarled as his whole body tensed up. "Is that really what you came here for?"
I shuddered slightly as he stared at me. If looks could kill...
"Oh Y/n," Shigaraki giggled. "I've never understood the appeal, but you've always seemed to have this effect on men."
He smiled as he sat down on a barstool and leaned his arms on the counter.
"Is there anyone else here?" I asked, trying to ignore his question and the tension.
"Yoo hoo!!" the blonde girl popped out as she wiggled her fingers at me in a small wave.
"Y/n, you remember Toga?" Shigaraki introduced.
"Oooh, it's the girl who almost killed you Shiggy!" she squealed. "Remember?! When she was trying to save that boy?!"
My heart shattered. Katsuki. What the hell would he think of me right now? He would be crushed.
It was like Keigo could read my thoughts because he was looking at me the same way he did when he saw me break down over Shota in the hallway at UA.
It was a look that told me he would protect me and keep me safe. It didn't make much sense either.
Was he not fully committed to the league? What the hell was going on here?
I had felt so much regret being here, but now maybe it was a good thing... What did Keigo get himself into? Could I help save him like he saved me?
I looked at Dabi, "I saw Kenji today. I almost killed him."
"Why didn't you?" he asked me softly, speaking to me as if I was the only person in the room.
"Shota stopped me," I answered honestly.
He looked at everyone else in the room who was watching our interaction carefully.
We had both changed so much, but at some point, we knew each other better than anyone else could ever hope to.
"Is that what you wanted?" his eyes returned to me.
"I don't know."
"And that's the real reason you came?"
I just nodded my head as I stared into his eyes. I hadn't realized it until he said something, but I did come here to figure out who I was.
"Well, as much as I love a touching reunion," Shigaraki interjected. "You've seen a little too much this time, Y/n."
Keigo quickly stepped in front of me, wrapping a wing around me to keep me safe as he stared down Shigaraki.
"Hawks, you're either with us or you're not," he snarled, and I heard his stool push back against the hard ground as he stood.
"She's an exception," he said coldly as his wings tightened around me.
I couldn't help but nuzzle myself into his back, letting his tense muscles press against my face. His scent and his warmth giving me the confidence I needed.
"There are no exceptions."
"It's ok, Keigo," I said softly. I kissed his back gently before I pushed my way out of his grasp.
I took deep breath before looking over at Shigaraki, "I'm ready to join you."
"Y/n," Keigo stared at me.
Shigaraki laughed as he walked over to me, and I noticed how Keigo and Dabi were both on high alert.
Shigaraki's quirk was terrifying and things could go south in a matter of seconds if I lost control on the situation.
"And why would I believe you?"
"I'm here aren't I?"
He put a single finger on my chin as he tilted upwards towards him, "Did you really think it'd be that simple?"
My breath hitched as he added two more fingers to my skin.
"You've been so adamant about being a hero, Amaterasu. Why would I ever think you've actually changed your mind?"
"Shigaraki!" Dabi yelled as he placed a fourth finger on my face. "That's enough."
"Let me prove it to you," I continued to keep my eyes locked onto him.
"I'm listening," he smirked.
"You name it, and I'll do it."
I looked down as I saw his fifth finger teasing me, only centimeters from my skin now.
"Hmm," he smiled as he pulled away. "I'll send you out tomorrow night. Until then, no one leaves."
I quietly tried to catch my breath as he walked away, Toga giggling and following his lead as they walked back into a back room and shut the door.
"Chickadee..." Keigo was looking at me with sad eyes.
We all snapped at attention as Shigaraki came back into the room.
"Your phone," he demanded, and I reached into my pocket to pull it out.
He walked over and snatched it out of my hand. I watched in defeat as it disintegrated in his hand.
He smirked before disappearing again, "Make yourself comfortable."
