Chapter 37: Returned

I woke up on the cold, hard ground outside of some large building.

My hands, feet, and waist were still locked into quirk-concealing devices with my mouth covered by another thick piece of tape.

Only this time, I felt different. There was pain all over my body, and I could feel warm liquid running down my face. I was completely disoriented.

I was wearing an oversized shirt and a small pair of shorts.

They took my hero costume and changed me!? I swear if they did anything else...

Tears began to freely flow as I woke up more every second.

Geez, they just beat my ass before dumping me out here... what the hell.

Katsuki!! What did they do with him?!

I began to thrash myself around, looking for any hint of where I was. I hoped to see Katsuki lying next to me, but I was alone.

As I got myself to turn over, I noticed I was just on the side of UA. In the distance, I heard the chitchat of familiar voices as they entered through the main doors.

I tried screaming, but all that came out were muffles.

It was night so I had no idea when someone would find me. I was hurting all over and it was so cold...

I'm so useless. Pathetic.

The tears came rushing down my face as I had to accept the situation I had found myself in.

I failed.

Suddenly, I heard someone land near me. I tried to look at who was there, but they were behind me.

"Y/n?!" the voice yelled as I heard the rushing of foot steps.

It was Keigo. He got on the ground and grabbed me.

"Holy shit!! Y/n! It's ok, you're safe now."

I looked at him frantically as he removed the tape over my mouth.

I grasped for air as he held me close, "Keigo." It was all I could manage to get out in between the sobs.

"I've got you chickadee. You're safe," he said softly as he picked me up, awkwardly trying to navigate the restraints.

He carried me through the halls of UA until we got to the nurses office. He laid me down gently on a bed.

"I'll be right back," he stroked my hair softly. "Let me go get help. We'll get you out of this as soon as we can."

I nodded helplessly and watched him take off.

I heared the rush of feet in the hallway outside, a group of people were running back to me.

Shota burst through the door first, "Y/n!!!" He ran over and carefully put his arms around me. "I can't believe you're back. I love you so much. I'm so sorry."

Toshinori, Recovery Girl, and Keigo followed right behind him.

"Oi, let go of her. Let me get her free of these," Recovery Girl demanded.

Carefully, she began to get the locks off of the various restrictions while Keigo, Shota, and Toshi stood back quietly, mumbling something.

"Why is everyone here tonight?" I mumbled.

"Planning our next move of action," she explained.

As soon as I was free from the restrictions, Shota rushed back over to me. I threw my arms around him while he held me.

"Shota," I cried.

"It's ok, my love. You're safe now," he said softly, trying to hold back his own tears.

Toshinori walked up and put his arm on my shoulder, "We're so happy to see you, Y/n."

I broke free from Shota's grasp and gave Toshinori a soft hug too.

As we pulled a part, I looked at all three of them, unsure what to do next.

"I'm going to go get you a change of clothes," Keigo said. "I'll be right back, ok?"

I nodded as he approached me. He laid a soft kiss on my head, "It's going to be ok, chickadee. I promise."

I softly touched his hand, and intertwined our fingers briefly, "Thank you, Keigo."

As he left, Recovery Girl turned to us. "You two, out. I need to exam her, and you should get to the meeting."

I gave Toshinori one last hug, and then pulled Shota into a deep kiss. It was salty and desperate, as tears flooded my face.

He rested his forehead on mine, "I love you so much, Y/n. I'm so glad you're safe."

"I love you too," I whispered.

Once they were gone, Recovery Girl approached me, "This is going to be uncomfortable and perhaps painful, but we need to get you cleaned up."

I nodded sheepishly in acceptance.

No one forced themselves on me, thankfully, but I had cuts and bruises across my body with multiple broken ribs.

"It's strange.. They didn't seem to touch your face other than this gash on your cheek," she commented.

There were plenty of cuts elsewhere which lets me think they let that psychotic blonde girl have some fun too.

"Why don't you go shower up in the back. I'll lay out your clean clothes."

I nodded and got up, eager to wash off the pain of
the last few days.

The warm water stung at first, but slowly it began to soothe me from the inside out.

It's time to put the tears behind you, Y/n. You're not finished yet. You have to save Katsuki.

As I got out, I saw that Recovery Girl had laid out the clothes Keigo got me. Black sweats, a black hoodie, and sneakers.

Thank goodness he knows me and got something comfy that I can just hide away in.

I dressed slowly as my body ached from the brutal beating it had taken. Recovery Girl healed the bones, but she couldn't do much about everything else.

She also wrapped up my burned arm and put lots of healing salve on it.

"Let's just hope it doesn't get infected," she told me while bandaging it. "It'll probably scar, though."

Like I cared... Let it scar.

I approached the conference room and took a deep breath before walking in.

"Y/n!" A few people called out while jumping from their seats. "We're so glad you're ok!"

I gave a nod before taking a seat next to Shota. He gently place a hand on my leg, which I quickly wrapped up with my own.

I fucking hated myself for failing the way I did. I was ashamed, but I had to be here. I had to help.

"I'm glad you're here, Y/n," Nezu called, and I offered him a small smile. "Hawks informed us of his intel and of your conversation before you left for the training camp."

Shit, I forgot about his warning... My stomach was now churning like crazy. Could I have prevented this if I reported it sooner? Is this all my fault?

"Um, Y/n," he said again, and I shot my head up to him. "Did you hear me?"

I shook my head no.

"We knew most of his information before you left, so I don't want you to think this is your fault at all."

I was so confused, but just nodded.

"We let you go anyway because the students are safer with you than without you," he continued.

Katsuki... He wasn't safe with me.

I cleared my throat before speaking up softly, "What are we going to do about Katsuki?"

"We have a plan. What I need from you is to go on TV tomorrow with Shota. The public needs to see that you are safe. It'll bring them hope for Bakugo."

I nodded, "And what's the plan to get him back?"

"We'll take care of that," he reassured.

"I want to help."

"Y/n, in your condition, it would be best for you to rest and watch over the others."

I slammed my hands on the table, jumping to my feet, "I will help get him home! Is that understood!?"

"Y/n," Endeavor spoke, "I am truly grateful for how you protected Shoto. Now let us handle this."

"The League returned you for a reason. They're probably hoping you'll act out rashly so that they can slip away. We can't let them," Keigo explained.

"You can count on us," Kamui interjected.

Shota lightly put his hand on me, and I sat back down slowly.

"It'll be ok," he reassured. "We'll get him home."

I looked over at Toshinori who was shockingly quiet, and he gave me a small nod.

"Fine," I huffed. "What do you need me to say tomorrow?"
