Chapter 14: Bakusquad
My eyes started to slowly open, blinking to adjust to the bright white lights.
"y/n? y/n! Are you there?" I heard a voice reach out, calling me back to consciousness.
I looked around slowly. All Might was there, lightly holding my hand.
"Toshinori." I said softly, giving him a weak smile.
"y/n, you're awake! Just one moment, let me go get Recovery Girl!" he called.
He rushed to the door and started calling for Recovery Girl, then quickly returned to my side.
"I'm so glad to see you're ok," He smiled, grabbing my hand again.
I had tears coming to my eyes.
Out of all the times I've woken up in a hospital room... no one has ever been here to greet me.
"Toshinori." I muffled, "You're here." The tears were flowing freely at this point.
"y/n, of course I'm here. Please don't cry. I'll always be here." He smiled.
Just then, Recovery Girl walked in and glanced over my way.
"Silly girl, don't cry yet. I haven't even finished healing your back. Save those tears for when you need them." She said sharply as she examined my file.
"Toshinori" she continued. "I saw Aizawa coming down the hallway. Go keep him company. No one comes in while I heal her."
All Might looked back into my eyes, "We'll be waiting for you right outside. Don't be afraid." He wiped my tears then stood up to leave.
"Thank you" I whispered feeling more vulnerable than I was comfortable with.
He left, and Recovery Girl looked straight to me, "You gave me quite a scare."
"I'm sorry," I said sheepishly. "It's been awhile since I've had to fight at full force."
She exhaled loudly, "Well, you're almost cleared to go. I just need to do one more healing session on your spine. It needs a little realignment... Just breathe."
**Aizawa's POV**
I was sitting outside of y/n's hospital room, waiting for Recovery Girl to finish healing her.
y/n was letting out deafening screams. It was honestly more than I could bear, but All Might was staying here for her, so I needed to stay too.
He noticed the horror in my eyes and placed his hand on my shoulder, "She's going to be ok. She's much stronger than she looks."
I barely had enough energy to even glance over at him.
Recovery Girl came out of the room. "I'm sorry you had to hear that you two. Fragments of her spine slipped and had to be realigned."
She continued, "She's cleared to leave now. I'm sure she'll be out soon. Wait here."
We continued sitting there until the door slowly started to open.
I jumped out of my seat, "y/n!" I grabbed her in my arms and pulled her close. "I'm so glad you're alright."
"A little sore, but I'll live." She chuckled lightly.
I held her for a few moments, resting my chin on top of her head. Enjoying her warmth.
I felt her starting to let go, so I reluctantly followed her lead.
She was looking at All Might, "Thank you for waiting for me." She smiled and walked over to give him a hug.
I know they're just friends, but I wish that she hadn't left my arms to go to his...
They were talking quietly as I stood back, waiting.
They hugged once more and said their goodbyes. y/n turned to look at me. Her eyes took my breath away.
"Shota." She called, smiling at me.
She is so beautiful. She lights up everything around her...
She was walking towards me. With every step she took, I felt my heart racing faster.
I'm so scared..of feeling this way.
She threw her arms around me.
"You scared me back there," She whispered into my neck and gave me a light kiss.
"I could say the same to you," I chuckled, fully embracing her.
I wanted to give her all of me. But it felt impossible.
She took a small step back, desperately looking into my eyes.
"Shota..." She whispered. "When I saw you laying there, lifeless, my heart shattered."
Her voice sounded hopeless as she continued, "I-I realized...You mean the world to me."
She was blushing like crazy but doing everything she could to hold eye contact..
No, Y/n, please don't say it...
"What I'm trying to say is.. I.. I lo—" Before she could finish she was cut off by an obnoxious yell.
"Y/n-sensei!? Mr. Aizawa!!?!?" electric boy yelled.
I rolled my eyes. Not those three.
**Y/N POV**
Seriously, they could not have worse timing.
I didn't even care about them seeing us... I was just so annoyed.
"If it isn't the bakusquad." I laughed, separating myself from Shota.
"DO NOT CALL US THAT!!!" Katsuki yelled.
"Aww, see Bakugo! Even the teacher's know!" Kirishima laughed with Kaminari joining in.
"What are you three doing here?" Shota mumbled.
Kaminari froze, afraid of Shota's always-threatening voice.
"Well, we were the ones who carried you both outta there... We were just worried about you." Kirishima explained, with his hand behind his head.
"AWWW YOU GUYS!!! You care!" I shrieked, overwhelmed with happiness.
"Calm down you one-hit-wonder, you're not that special!" Katsuki retorted.
I rolled my eyes, and pinched his cheeks. "Katsuki the softie!!"
"DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!! FIGHT ME YOU HAG!!!" Katsuki yelled back.
Shota interjected, "Do not talk to her like that." His eyes starting to glow red.
I looked at him in shock, then started to chuckle when I saw to boys' faces filled with horror.
"Shota," I laughed uncontrollably. "You're scaring them!"
They started to relax when they saw how at ease I was.
"Soooo...." Kaminari said, "Are you guys like a thing?"
"Bro!! You can just ask them that!!!" Kirishima cried.
"Well they're the ones who were all cuddly out in the open!!" Kaminari replied.
"You're both idiots," Katsuki muttered. Still feeling a little nervous from Shota's comment.
I looked at Shota, and winked.
I cleared my throat to interrupt their chatter. They all looked at me with attention.
"I'm actually glad you're all here," I said. "I wanted to thank you all. Without you, Shota and I wouldn't be standing here."
I bowed at the waist, wanting to show them my respect.
They started going berserk.
"Uh-Aaa-No. y/n-sensei, please stand up! We're not deserving!" The mumbles and stuttering continued.
I stood back up.
"Yes, you do deserve it," I smiled softly. "You saved us."
They were astounded. I lightly put my hand on Shota's shoulder, signaling it was his turn.
"She's right," He bowed his head slightly. "We're in your gratitude. Thank you."
Now they were really stooped...
"See!" I shouted excitedly.
"y/n-sensei..." Katsuki started in a low voice. "We barely took care of any no-name villains. We weren't part of your battles. We didn't do anything." He was looking at the ground, genuinely defeated.
I stopped for a moment, mulling over his words.
I started with a smile, "Boys, look at me."
They looked up, listening carefully.
"Heroes don't attack. Heroes save. And what you did yesterday... You saved. There is nothing more noble, nothing more heroic, than that." I stated simply.
"But—" Katsuki started.
I raised up my hand to stop him. "No... listen... Heroes only battle when they have to in order to save and protect others."
"You carried Shota to safety. You carried me to safety. You protected your classmates. You worked together." I continued.
"And, you're only in your first month of school." I smiled.
"Yes, Shota, All Might, and I fought the most treacherous villains. However, we wouldn't have been able to do that if we couldn't rely on you."
"Then, when all was said and done, you carried us on your backs. You truly were heroes." I finished, staring at them intently.
"I am so proud of you all." I smiled and lowered my head just slightly.
They looked back at me in awe. Shota was staring at me in astonishment. Amazed at how naturally mentoring came to me.
"y/n-sensei, thank you." Kirishima said with just a couple tears in his eyes. "We couldn't have asked for a better teacher!"
Kaminari cut in, "Uh... you too Mr. Aizawa!!!"
"Yea, yea! Of course!!" Kirishima quickly followed up with a sweat drop on his forehead.
Katsuki was silent. I could tell he was really mulling over my words.
"You guys!!!" I called enthusiastically. "Come here! Group hug!!"
I quickly yanked all three of them and Shota and pulled them into a hug,
"You guys are the best!!!" I squealed. "Thank you for visiting us!"
I heard lots of moaning, groaning, and complaining, but I didn't care.
"This is nice...." Kaminari said.
With that, I let them all go and burst out laughing.
"You three should get going, enjoy your day off! Besides, Shota and I have a staff meeting to get to."
Shota quickly followed up. "You shouldn't even be out today. It's not safe," he grumbled.
"Uh sorry, Mr. Aizawa! We'll get going!" Kirishima replied.
They all said thank you and left together.
I looked at Shota, "Well... that was fun." I chuckled.
"You know, Principal Nezu doesn't expect you to be at the meeting. He knows of your condition."
"Nonsense... if it's concerning the attack and the students, I have to be there." I interjected.
I grabbed his hand and started to walk with him down the hallway.
"If you say so," Shota mumbled.
"One more thing..." I said before turning to him and grabbing his face, kissing him deeply.
"Mmm" I sighed. "That's what I needed." I was smiling with my eyes closed.
"Now we can head out." I declared.
Shota laughed lightly, and we started towards UA.
