Chapter Six- Crushing my Heart and Lungs
Sitting in the back of Lydia's car, as we are parked in the video rental parking lot, I began to play around with my bracelets as they both began to argue on what movie they were going to watch, Jackson wanted to watch Hoosiers and I quote "is not only the best basket ball movie ever. It is the best sports movie ever made"
"No" To which was Lydia's reply, "It's got Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper" He was still trying to persuade her, "No" And Lydia was still not agreeing
"Elouise please back me up here" Jackson asked from the front, "Well I wouldn't mind watching Star Wars" I pipe in, to which both turn and glare at me, "Alright, the force is definitely not in you" I mumble, "I am not watching the Notebook again" Jackson growls
I watch as Lydia's glare intensifies, "Fine" He grumbles out, climbing out of the car, "Elouise go with him, make sure he doesn't get the wrong movie" I sigh pulling my jacket tight around me, before stepping out grabbing my tank and entering the video store right behind Jackson
"Can somebody help us find The Notebook? Hello? Is anybody working here" Jackson's voice asked, walking around the isles for a clerk, "You gotta be kidding me" I groaned as we couldn't find anyone
"Can't we go back and say we couldn't find it" Jackson groans, "You really think Lydia would believe that?" I grumble following him down the isles
I then notice a faulty light, with a ladder beside it, I nudge Jackson and began to walk towards it, as I began to walk closer, and I noticed a pair of shoes sticking out from behind the row in front of me. "What the hell" I mumble peering around the corner, there on the ground was the clerk with his throat ripped out and his eyes looking lifelessly up at me
I screamed, stumbling backwards into the ladder, which was supporting the light above me and it fell, cutting all power to the video store, the store was blinking red lights that flooded the area in a scary glow
I was quickly grabbed and pushed to the ground my Jackson, "What the hell" My voice was cut off by him putting his hand over my mouth, motioning for me to be quiet
He peered around the corner, only to come flying back around. Was the murder still here? Oh my god, I'm going to die
Movies began to fall off the shelves and fall on top on us; our heavy breathing was the only sound that could be heard in this silent store
Then a sicking thud could be heard, then another and another. The murder had pushed over the shelves it was like the domino effect, Jackson jumped out pulling me along with him, only for the shelve to fall on top of him and me
I scream escaped me as the shelve landed fully on top of me, I shielded my head from the heavy shelf, tucking into a small ball, the shelves began to dig into my side, the air was forced out my already dead lungs
Heavy breathing from Jackson, and the murder could be heard and then the shattering of glass and Lydia's scream

"Mam, I need you to remain calm, we are going to lift the shelf alright" A paramedics voice stated, "Hurry" I wheezed out, "Alright we need to move fast" The paramedic shouted, after a few moments, the weight was lifted from me, I sucked in deep breathes
"Bring me a gurney now!" The same medic from before shouted, I was then lifted and placed on a gurney and was rolled out near the ambulance
"Elouise are you okay" Lydia's face came in front of me, I nodded numbly the face of the dead clerk in my mind, they lifted the head of the gurney up so I was in a seating position
"Mam, are you breathing fine" A medic asked, I stared blankly at him, "I think she's in shock" the other paramedic stated to the one who asked the question, "Oh whoa, is that a dead body" A voice I knew asked, it was Stiles
Sheriff Stilinksi walked past me, "Excuse me Sheriff, when can I go home" My voice cracked as I looked at him, he turned and looked at me "Elouise, they said you were caught under one of the shelves they need to check if your alright" I nodded numbly
I reached over and clutched Lydia's hand, "Lyd next time can we just watch Netflix?" I croak out, "I think that would be better" Her voice shook as she clutched my hand tightly

The next day
"Honey how are you feeling?" My mum's voice flooded into the room, "Why do you care" I mumble staring blankly at the ceiling, "I care because you're my daughter, who just went through a traumatic event" She said with a sigh, I turned my head to look at her
"The only traumatic event I'm going through is my mother talking to me" I say with a glare, my mother sighed, before turning and shutting the door
Few Hours Later
I was walking down the hallway to talk to Lyds when I notice the door slightly ajar, peering in I notice Stiles sitting on the bed with Lydia, with her head in his lap and him looking like he was having the time of his life
My heart clenched at the sight, of course he came to check up on her. Everyone would, she's the star of the school, I'm just the freak with the air tank behind her
I turn back down the hallway, blinking back tears. I have no idea why I was getting so emotional, he didn't like me he liked Lydia. Everyone loves Lydia
Reaching my bedroom, I slam to door shut behind me and lay on my bed, letting out a small sob

I hear the door creak open, I had positioned myself lying away from the door. "Hey, Elouise it's Stiles" His voice asked from the doorway, my heart clenched again, he was probably feeling obliged to ask if I was okay, after checking up on Lydia
"What do you want" I spat out bitterly, not bothering to turn around "I just wanted to see if you were okay... Y'know after last night" Images flashed through my head, the clerk the shelve falling on top of me
"Yeah, thanks for worrying you can leave now" I grumble, I turn slightly to see him at the door his hands in his pockets, "Is something wrong?" Stiles voice questioned, "Oh nothing's wrong, Stiles" I spat his name out
"Why don't you go back to Lydia's room, I'm sure she will enjoy your company" I spat out, sitting up and glaring at him, he looked taken aback "What do you mean?" He questioned, I rolled my eyes at him
"Look I know you like Lydia, it's clear on your face, that's why you're trying to hang out with me to get with her, but look buddy, I'm no one's second so get out of here alright" I snap angrily blinking away the tears
"No.. I don't like Lydia.. I.." He stuttered out, "Just leave alright GO!" I shout at him, he stumbled backwards, angry tears rolled down my face as I continued to glare at him
I stood up taking long strides and slammed the door shut in his face, before sliding down and sobbed, why did the guy I like have to like my sister?

Parent teacher conferences
"Let me tell you, there's plenty to say about Lydia and Elouise" Came the voice of Lydia and Elouise's Math teacher
"Did I not predict this ?" Their father, Mr Martin groaned "Here we go. Total nuclear meltdown as usual" Miss Martin grumbled at her ex-husband's argument
"What is it ? Is it their grades, concentration issues, erratic behaviour?" Mr Martin questioned
"I'm not the one who told them they had to choose who they want to live with, as if that wouldn't warp a 16 year old girl and a 16 year old girl with lung cancer"
"Just tell us what the problem is" Mr Martin asks the teacher in front of them, growing tired of his ex-wife's ranting
"I wasn't aware that there was a problem. Academically, Lydia's one of the finest students I've ever had. Her A.P. classes push her GPA above a 5.0. I'd actually like to have her I.Q. tested. And socially, she displays outstanding leadership qualities. I mean, she's a real leader" He began looking at the parents
"And Elouise, as well pushes her GPA not as much as her sister but close, she is also very strong willed and the assignments she is given she passes with straight A's. Though at times her sarcasm can cause her strife, she is a large delight amongst the teachers and peers alike." The teacher said looking between the parents for any further questions
To which they both looked absolutely flabbergasted
