Crime - Manic Monday
Sawyer Martinez wished he wasn't walking that night in the downtown area of his town several nights ago. Ever since he witnessed the murder of a well-known celebrity couple and reported it to the police, he had the jitters that someone was continuously watching him.
On that Monday evening, a black limousine pulled up around the corner of a lit store and Sawyer heard an argument going on. Curiosity got the best out of him, so Sawer hid behind some trees that were adjacent to the next building. Once he crouched down, he noticed that an elegant lady in a formal ball gown and a gentleman who wore a tuxedo got out of the car. They were yelling at each other for some odd reason when an old Toyota pulled over and shot the couple execution-style.
After seeing this happen before his eyes, Sawyer covered his mouth and ran to the nearest police station to report the crime. But what he did not know was that once he ran, a small twig stood in his way and broke his fall. Thus, he was seen by the culprits and was led on a chase until they found out that Sawyer was headed toward the police station. Thus, Toyota turned around leaving Sawyer with a breath of relief.
At first, the police didn't believe the poor man by his accounts, but once the ambulance radioed in about the homicide, they believed that Sawyer was telling the truth. Sawyer was granted 24-hour police protection until they found the culprit, yet Sawyer felt it wasn't enough.
He didn't know why he felt edgy since that day, but he felt that someone would be on his trail wherever he went. It seemed like he was living a nightmare every time he woke up every day.
He lived alone in his apartment but used to have a girlfriend who shared it with him. But once Riley learned about the police surveillance and that someone might be after her boyfriend, she fled in fear that she'd become a target herself.
Riley still loved her man, but she told him it would be best for her to move out of the country for a while until things would calm down. And before she left, Riley gave him a kiss of farewell.
Sawyer felt that was her way of saying goodbye and wished he could undo the past but now it was too late, and he was afraid that he wouldn't see her again.
That was the least of his worries though for he would get endless anonymous phone calls he refused to pick up. Then, Sawyer would see constant shadows appearing near his bedroom windows frightening him at night.
So you can say paranoia got the best out of Sawyer until that unfortunate night he died of fright.
