Chapter Three
Date: 3/14/2020
Logan woke up still in the hospital. He sat up and looked around for a bit. Next to him was a blue box wrapped in a light pink bow with his name on it. He grabbed it and lightly took of the ribbon to see what was inside. He lifted the top of the box and saw a blue scarf. His eyes grew big.
"Patton..." he whispered to himself. "P-Patton.... PATTON.... PATTON!" His whisper turned into yelling as tears streamed down his cheeks. He held the scarf up to his heart and kept yelling. Three nurses came in and saw what was happening. "Calm down sir!" One of them exclaimed. He took a deep breath and shakily exhaled. One of them saw the scarf and smiled. "Ah, I see you got the gift from Mr. McOmen." She said. Logan looked at her and nodded.
Suddenly, another nurse came in. "Mr. Mashire, you have a visitor." He said. All the nurses left as the visitor came in. It was Logan's good friend Virgil. "Hey, Lo. How ya been?" He asked. Logan smiled. I'm fine. My head hurts a little, but other than that I feel well. Virgil sat in a nearby chair. "Well that's good." He said. He looked down at the floor for a bit before sighing.
"Patton was going to come in here and give you the gift personally, but after what the doctor had told him about the incident, he said he was afraid you were angry at him." Virgil said. Logan then started to recall what had happened. How Patton called him and how he was foolish to try and answer it while he was driving. He sighed. "Where's my phone at?" He asked Virgil. Virgil awkwardly looked around the room before answering. "It got shattered in the accident...." he said.
"Can I borrow your phone then?" Logan asked. Virgil nodded and handed him his phone. Logan found Patton's contact and called him. Virgil silently sat next to Logan while the phone rang. Patton answered it. "Hey, Virge! How are you?" He greeted him. "This is actually Logan, I just wanted to call you to-" suddenly Patton hung up. Logan stared at Patton's contact for a bit before giving the phone back to Virgil. "Patton needs some time to think... and so do you." He said. Logan nodded. "Thanks Virgil." He replied. Then they both said their goodbyes and Virgil left.
A few minutes went by and Logan saw a doctor at the door. They walked in with a wheelchair. "Mr. Mashire, we're sorry, but until we've seen that you've fully mentally recovered, we're going to need you to use a wheelchair." The doctor said. Logan became angered. "I feel fine!" He shouted, "I do not need some useless wheelchair to get around! It's not like I have any sort of disability!"
The doctor sighed. "Sir, please, we just want to help you." They said. Logan calm down and complied. He got out of the bed and sat in the wheelchair. One of the nurses helped him to the elevator and out of the hospital. Outside was Roman waiting by his car. He noticed Logan and went over to him. "Logan! Glad to see you're ok." He said. Logan nodded. The nurse who was holding the wheel chair let go and went back inside. Roman took it and helped Logan get into the car. He put Logan in the passenger seat and placed his wheelchair in the back of the car.
"So," Roman said, "You wanna go home now or do something else." Logan looked at the scarf Patton gave him for a moment and then back at Roman. "I want to go to Patton's apartment." He said. Roman hesitated at first, but agreed to let Logan see him. They parked in front of his apartment and Roman got out. "You stay in here, ok?" Roman said. Logan nodded. Roman went up to the door and knocked. Patton opened it and smiled. "Roman! What a nice surprise! What are you doing here?" He greeted him. "Well, Logan is out of the hospital and he really wants to talk to you." Roman said. Patton looked over Roman's shoulder and saw Logan.
He was holding the scarf up to his heart with his eyes closed and smiling. Patton chuckled. "Of course he can talk to me." He said. Roman went back to the car to tell Logan the good news. "Logan!" He said. Logan got startled because he didn't expect it to happen so quickly. "Did he say yes?" Logan asked. Roman nodded excitedly and went to the back of the car to get Logan's wheelchair. After he got it, he helped Logan out of the car and onto the chair.
Logan hadn't seen Patton in what felt like forever. They all went inside and Logan tried to stand up. His legs suddenly felt weak and he fell right back into the wheelchair. Roman rolled his eyes and picked Logan up and carried him to the couch. He gently put him down and the two waited for Patton who was in the kitchen. He came out with a cookies and glasses of milk all neatly put on a tray. He set the tray down on his kitty table and sat next to Logan.
"So, Logan, how have you been?" He asked nervously. Logan looked at Patton and smiled. "I've been fine. How have you been Pat?" He replied. Patton started to tear up and before Logan could do something, Patton's arms were wrapped around his waist. "Oh Logan this is all my fault!" He exclaimed as he sobbed. Roman got up and left the room to let them have their time. Logan put his hand on Patton's head. "You didn't do anything wrong." He said. A few minutes passed and Patton sat up. The two has their eyes locked on one another before one of them did something. Patton smiled. "So, where are your injuries?" Patton asked. Logan was confused by his smile, but answered anyways. "I don't really have any, but the doctors ran tests on me so I can't really walk." He explained.
Suddenly, Patton lunged at Logan and had him pinned down. "Do you remember what day it is?" He asked with a smirk. Logan shook his head. "It's my birthday and I have a special birthday request for you!" He said. "Wait please don't tickle me!" Logan pleaded. He expected fingers at his sides, but nothing happened. He looked at Patton and saw his eyes were closed. Logan's face turned red. "Patton?" He asked. He got no reply. Roman walked out and started laughing. Logan looked at him. "What's so funny?" He asked. "Woof!" Roman said, "You're gonna be there for a loooong time. See you tomorrow!" He then left the apartment. Logan tried to stop him, but with all of Patton's weight on him he couldn't do anything.
After Roman left, Patton sat up. "Now that he's gone," he said, "how about you and I have some real fun?" Logan became flustered. "Wh-what?!" He exclaimed. Patton grabbed a cookie and gave it to Logan. "We're gonna eat these cookie together silly!" He said. Logan sighed in relief. "Wait," he said, "should I really be eating sugary foods?" Patton wanted to say yes, but he shook his head. "I guess not. Well, at least we can still spend time together. And you wouldn't wanna leave your happy pappy Patton alone on his birthday, would you?" He asked. Logan shook his head and the two sat next to one another and watched some TV. A few hours passed and there was a loud bang coming from Janus's apartment. Patton's eyes grew big and he went to the apartment to see what happened, leaving Logan all alone.
