Author's POV

"Whitty, it's quite simple what you're describing to me. You're suffering from clinical depression. I can't tell you what else you may have but it seems to be more prominent." The therapist said while pushing her glasses up on her nose. "What I'm going to do is refer you to a psychologist and have you take this note to your doctor and she can help you with your other problem by making arrangements to get you a proper diagnosis." She made a note in her journal before tearing it out and handing it to Whitty.

He felt too numb to speak. He just mumbled a simple "Thank you," before standing up to walk out of the room. "Oh, and Whitty?"
He stopped at the door, turning around. "I am going to recommend some relationship counseling. You're a tender person and your woman should handle you with care."

He grimaced upon hearing the idea, "You're right... I'll bring it up to her tonight. Thank you." He said before leaving the building.

Whitty set his bags in front of the door and stared at the half empty apartment Livingroom. He sighed before looking down at Carol, who was already picking up her bags.

"As much as I hate to admit it, I'm glad we decided to make some changes.." Whitty said.

Carol smiled, "It's for the best. She can have her own room to herself and redecorate it in her own spooky way." She shivered referring to Penelope's ghost. She and Whitty picked their things up and went outside to the moving truck.

"You guys done?" The mover asked.

Carol nodded excitedly, taking the clipboard from the man, and signing her name on a document. Whitty couldn't help but stare at the door from the sidewalk below. It was only two floors but it felt like he was so far away from her already and they hadn't left yet. Deep down, he really didn't want to leave the place behind.

He'd lived there ever since he graduated high school. His brief thought was interrupted by Carol's voice calling to him from the car.

"Whitty come on. I know you're sad but we have a long way to go."

Whitty walked over to the car and got in, still stuck in reminiscence. As they drove off and away from the house, he choked back a few tears as he thought about Penelope. He would play the day that they met over and over in his head every time her name came up in the conversation. He remembered it so much that he even knows exactly how their conversation went, word for word. He remembered the way she smelled, her soft voice, her... everything, (WinK WOnK).
It's not like Whitty disliked Carol because he loved her deeply. He just has a very hard time getting over his high school sweetheart. Not to mention that his relationship with both Carol and Penelope started when he was in a dark space. They were there when everyone was against him.

Because Penelope was first, his attachment started strong and stuck on her up until her untimely death. Every moment with her was amazing. He felt like nobody else existed when he was with her. Parting with her made his whole life change. It was the hardest six month recovery he'd ever endured. Whitty has felt pain before but not like that. It broke him to pieces.

His current day life started smoothly, but because of his issues, it caused problems. He could never, and still hasn't, let go of her. Despite not even meeting her, Carol was always jealous of Penelope. She was almost happy she was dead so she didn't have to meet the woman who'd been with her boyfriend. Carol was possessive, obsessive, protective, and everything else in between. If she wasn't a yandere she is damn near close to one.
Whitty was her most favorite person out of all the people she'd met. He was kind, sweet, fragile and delicate. She saw him as a human that meant no harm. She ignored all labels that society placed on him, just to see him smile. And that, she got.

"Hey, Whitty?" Carol spoke from the driver's seat.

"Mhm?"

"I know you're upset and all but... you haven't said anything for the past 16 minutes. Are you feeling alright?"

Whitty was always a deep thinker. His impulsivity could contradict that sometimes but we can come back to that.

"Just thinking. Imagining what going back to the city is gonna be like.."

Carol knew he was lying but decided to keep driving. She knew about his thinking patterns so she let him slide.

"Okay, ma'am. You're all checked out but... are you sure that you're ready to leave? You could have some serious complications."

"I should be fine. Thank you, Doctor."

With that, I jumped off of the recovery bed and gathered my clothes to go change. After finally putting on my clothes, I paused, staring at the charm of my locket. Looking down at the pendant, I gently rubbed the shiny silver of the jewelry.

"My Whitty... Momma's coming home.." I smiled at the warm feeling I got before opening the case.
I smiled at the heartwarming picture of me and Whitty inside. I shed a tear, thinking of every second we spent together before..

She....

"I'm not sharing a bed with you in this hotel. You kick too much, Carol.."

Carol giggled, "I can't help that I'm tiny. Maybe if I had your kneecaps, I'd be closer to your neck!" She playfully nudged him into the doors of the reception to the hotel.

~*Time skip*~

"Isn't this fun, Whitty? We get to be together, alone... under no surveillance..." Carol traced small circles on Whitty's bare stomach as he lay there, staring at the ceiling.

"You're not gonna get me to do it with you, Carol." He said, completely unphased by her attempts at seduction.

"Well, it was worth a shot.." she put her hands together and laid on his stomach. "Can we at least kiss? You've been sad all day and I want to try and make you feel better.."

Whitty allowed Carol to get on his lap and kiss him. They spent the rest of their night making out ubder a blanket.

**

Whitty huffed as he lugged several bags behind him. Carol had Convinced him to go shopping with her and help her carry stuff for her. So far, in total she had 12 bags on his arms, all filled with unnecessary girl things.
"I'm gonna sit down." Whitty said simply, before walking off to the food court and sitting at a table.

He was playing on his phone, in his own world, before someone caught his eye. He saw a girl walk in the mall through the entrance near the court.
His heart dropped when he realized who it was.

It seems she'd noticed him too because they were staring at each other from a distance, giving the same look of shock and surprise.
They slowly started walking, cautiously approaching the other.

"Whitty..." the woman whispered, holding back her tears.

"Rose petal? Is that really you?" Whitty's eyes shone with tears. (I just chose the nickname for her)

They stopped in a stalemate in front of each other. He slowly cupped her face. When he touched her, he started crying. He could actually feel Penelope's face.
They hugged each other in the middle of the mall with a few onlookers clapping and making happy sounds around them.

Whitty didn't want to let go, in fear of losing her again or the whole situation being a delusion of his.
"What happened? How did you even-"

"I don't know either.. but I do remember everything.. from that night..."

Penelope's POV

"Whitty? Whitty I'm home!" I smiled as I heard the large male's footsteps approaching the livingroom.

He walked to me and pickedd me up and put me over his shoulder. "You're late! C'mon we got a fort to make!" He said, carrying me to the bedroom. I felt myself being dropped on something fluffy.

"Whitty, you and this pillow collection.." I snickered.

"What? How else am I supposed to comfort myself when you're gone."

I frowned a bit, "speaking of gone. Don't you have a thing to do with Carol or something?" I asked.

Whitty stood up, "Yeah! You're a lifesaver, baby." He bent down and kissed me. I kissed him back. "I'll be back later. I love you." He beamed.

"I love you, too." I smiled as he walked away.

When he was gone, I decided to try and surprise him by making the pillow fort for hin, using his favorite pillows as the bedding inside of it. "He's gonna be so happy~!"

**
A knock at the door broke Penelope's focus. She set the pillows down to go and peek through the hole in the door.

She was surprised to see Carol at the door. She was supposed to be with Whitty. Penelope thought nothing of it and opened the door for her and greeted the woman.

"Hey, Carol. I thought you were meeting Whitty for something? What are you doing here?"

"I.. needed to talk to you... it's serious." She looked down, putting on a frown.

"O-okay.." Penelope reluctantly stepped to the side to let her in the room.

When she closed the door she gathered herself amd smiled. "So, what's going on? I-Is Whitty okay?" Penelope asked, slightly panicked.

"Oh, no Whitty's fine.." Carol's tone sent an uneasy chill down her spine.

"Oh thank god." She sighed as she sat back on the couch. "Yeah! So, what did you need to tell me?"

Carol put her hands in her lap and blushed. "I-I've.. wanted to tell you that.. I..."

"Cinnamon, you can tell me. What's the matter?" Penelope lifted her chin seeing Carol's glossy eyes.

"I've liked you for a while now and I haven't had the courage to tell you until now. So, I sent Whitty out so it wouldn't be awkward.."

Penelope's eyes widened. She didn't know what to say to her. She only let go of her face and backed up a bit.
"Carol..."

They stayed silent for a while, staring at each other for a moment. Penelope looked around the room trying to find something to distract her from the topic, when suddenly, she felt a sharp pain searing in her chest.

She looked down seeing a large sickle drived deep into her ribcage, with blood gushing profusely through the opening. She was thrown to the ground. The last thing she saw was Carol standing over her body preparing to stab her again, and then everything went dark.

***

"That's pretty much what happened..."

Whitty stood there in shock. He didn't know what to say or do in that moment. That was until Carol popped up behind them with a few more bags.

"Hey, Whitty. So I got-" she paused as she examined the look of terror on the male's face. "What's the matter? You look like you've seen another ghost." She said jokingly.

"N-nothing.. are you ready to go?"

"Yeahhh? Are you sure you're okay? You've been acting weird since this morning.."

He just nodded, turning to pick up the rest of the bags. "Well then, I'll meet you at the car!" Carol happily skipped off and out of the door.

Penelope turned around after she heard Carol's voice get further away. She looked out the door and then back at Whitty's distraught face.
"What are you gonna do now?" She asked.

"I-.. I don't know... everything is starting to get worse again and this time I don't even have a stable home to go to, knowing that information." He sighed angrily.

Out of nowhere, Penelope pulled him in and kissed him in front of everyone, causing more cheers to erupt from around them.
Whitty did nothing but go with it, and kissed her back. When they pulled away, she was blushing. "What? You miss me?" Whitty said, regaining some of his composure.

Penelope giggled, "I do!" She hugged him tightly.

"When the time is right, come to this address. Don't leave anything behind, and don't let anyone follow you. Call me in advance just in case." She handed him a slip of paper and kissed him on the cheek before trottong away, leaving the bomb in the midst of all the people.

**

Carol sat in front of the TV, staring at the news broadcast as Whitty stood in the kitchen, trying his best not to make it seem like he was scared of her.

He paced frantically, trying to gather his thoughts. "Did this really happen? I mean.. she's dead right? So even if I go to that place she wants me at, she won't be there will she?" He mumbled to himself as if he were deranged. Carol, however, thought he was. She came into the room with him with a worried look on her face.

"Baby? Baby are you okay? You've been mumbling for a good five minutes now." She put her hands on his flushed face. "You're sick! I knew it, you have to lay down!" she dragged him into the bedroom and set him on the bed.

"I'm fine! Honest!" He protested, trying to get up. Carol pushed him back down and glared at him.

"Baby, you need to lay. Down." She said in a stern voice.

Whitty was stricken with fear, sinking back and propping himself up on his elbows. With that, Carol left the room to get her supplies.

Whitty just stared at the ceiling, whimpering silently. He curled up in a ball, burrowing his face into his body pillow. His comfort was disrupted when Carol walked back in, dressed in a skimpy nurse outfit.

"Um.. wh-"

"Shh. I'm here to heal you~" she winked

Whitty looked down at her bosom and back at her face with a blank look. "You... do know I'm not moved by your boobs." He said simply, "I have no dick. It's not gonna do anything."

"Well, there are... options!"

Whitty continued staring at her, completely unbothered by her attempt at seducing him. "One of these days I'm gonna find your weakspot. I know you have one." She fussed as she fluffed a pillow behind him.

"Yeah sure."

Carol patted the spot next to her inviting him to come lay next to her, to which he obliged. "Now let me tuck you in, darling~" She pulled the duvet over Whitty's long body and tucked him in gently.

"Now you stay here. I'm gonna call the store I got this from and see if I can get a refund..."

With that, she went off into the hotel bathroom, which was literally a corner away from their bed.
He heard her on the phone talikng with customer support so he knew she was distracted.

He sighed, loosening his arm from the blankets. Once again, he was staring at the note. He engraved every pen stroke on the yellow material. So far, he had envisioned a path in his head and several scenarios to get him out of the house and to his final destination.

**
"G'night, baby." Carol wrapped her body around his back.

Whitty wasn't prepared for her to be this clingy. It was almost as if she knew that he was planning something. He had another idea.

"Hey, Carol?"

"Hm?" She let him turn around to face her.

"What would you think if I told you that.. I have been seeing someone.."

Carol sat up, "So you're cheating on me?! What the fuck, dude!"

"No! Not like that!" He took a deep breath, "I saw Penelope today."

Carol raised a brow, "Yeah you're definitely sick. I'm getting you a therapist."

"But-"

"Goodnight~!" She said in a singsong way before turning off their light and turning to sleep.

***
The next day

"I'm not telling this woman anything." Whitty sat in the car, crossing his arms like a child.

Carol insisted that he see a therapist. She couldn't handle his problems on her own so she decided to dump him off with someone who knew what they were doing, and drove away.

**
And so, Whitty had no choice but to see his therapist every week for the next three months until Carol could deal with him again.

But Whitty, however, had other plans.

**
2 months later

I finally did it. I finally got away.

I got away from that crazy woman and found my life. I took my doctor's advice and broke free and I've never felt better.

Finally, I was at the meeting spot Penelope told me to meet her at. I took my phone out and called her. To my surprise, I heard her phone ringing before I saw she was already behind me.

"Whitty, you made it!" She hugged me tight. "She doesn't know you're gone?"

"Let's just say I made history repeat itself."

Penelope smiled and kept hugging me. It started to bother me. I couldn't stay silent for long.

"Babe?"

"Why are we meeting at a Denny's?"

***

"That was so good. Thanks so much, Whitty, I owe you one." Penelope kissed Whitty's forehead.

"Well you're kinda already serving your favor to me." He shrugged as he turned the car into Penelope's driveway.

Finally, he was home.

******

I really hope this made sense. I was excited asf to write this so I had like four endings in mind like Carol and Penelope fighting but I decided to go the pacifist route with this one.
