Chapter 9
"What time is it?" Deshed asked, tapping his fingers on the table.
Agent Q uploaded the Zala drug files on the backup USB flash drive and she gave it to Deshed."10:45p.m."
Deshed in a nervous motion checked the camera feed of the front building, as he saw five dead guards on the ground. "Something is wrong? Agent S has been gone too long. I don't like this. Agent Q, get Agent L to bring the girl to the car quickly."
Agent Q left her laptop getting up from the chair."Yes, sir."
Agent X walked in the room with his gun aimed at Deshed as Agent Q drew out her gun."I don't think so, where is Casey? Drop the gun Q."
Agent Q moved forward with her gun. "You first."
"Well, if it isn't the black sheep of the Raven agency," Deshed said.
"Drop your weapon." Agent Q knitted a brow pointing a gun on him. "You think you are fast enough to pull that trigger?"
"Don't test me," Agent X said, itching to pull the trigger.
"I'm gonna ask again, where is Casey?"Agent X asked, glaring at him with cold eyes.
"And if I don't tell you?" Deshed asked in a condescending tone.
Agent X shot Deshed's hand as he screamed. "The next bullet will go to your head. I'm not gonna ask you to drop your weapon."
Agent Q placed her gun on the floor while keeping her hands up.
"Good choice, stand back against the wall," Agent X said.
Deshed laughed, gripping his blooding hand. "You enjoy killing just like we program you to be. It's too bad you will never know who you truly are. I'm the only one that holds that information."
"Where is Casey?" Agent X asked, gritting his teeth.
"You must really have a thing for her," Deshed said with a half smirk.
"I will count to three," Agent X said.
"One..."
"Two..."
Agent L pushed her in the room."She is right here." He lifted his gun at Agent X. "You and I have a score to settle."
Deshed chuckled."You lost your leverage. "It is time to end this."
"You really think so?" Agent X said, staring deep into Deshed's eyes as spun quickly and shot Agent L clear in the chest and head as he rolled to the side.
Casey got down screaming on the floor while Agent Q fired her gun at Agent X hitting his stomach and hid behind the table. Deshed ran out of the room.
Agent X shouted. "Deshed!"
Agent X fired multiple rounds at Agent Q, while pulling Casey off the floor to safety against the wall. He gritted his teeth from the stomach wound. "It doesn't have to be this way, Q, Deshed is using you. I don't want to kill you."
"You had no trouble killing our brothers," Agent Q said, shooting in their direction as bullets rippled against the wall.
"Casey, I need you to stay here," Agent X added a new magazine clip to his gun and recoiled it.
Casey glanced at Agent X with a concerned look."She doesn't have to die."
"It's her choice," Agent X said, directing his gun.
"There is always a choice. She doesn't have to die." Casey folded her arms.
"You do realize she is part of the Raven Agency. The same agency that kidnapped you," Agent X said. "She can't be trusted."
"Let me talk to her," Casey said.
"You can't reason with her because she will kill you," Agent X said. "That I'm certain."
Casey sighed. "Let me try, trust me."
"Fine, if she does anything, I'm taking her out," Agent X said, keeping his gun on Agent Q.
Casey Nodded. "Okay."
"Hey, hear me out," Casey said, holding her hand out. "Whatever Deshed has promised you, has been a complete lie. He was using you to get what he wanted."
"I don't believe you. Deshed has never betrayed me and I've been loyal to him," Agent Q said.
"That's what he wants you to believe. One day he decides to create an army. Do you think he will keep you around? You are just a pawn to be sacrificed in a twisted game for power. Deep down you know what I say is true." Casey paced forward with her hands up.
"Don't come any closer," Agent Q said with wide eyes.
"There are two choices you have to make. Either join us to stop him so he doesn't do what he did to you and Agent X, or you shoot me."
Agent Q hesitated with her gun. "I will shoot you."
"I will take her out," Agent X clenched
his jaw.
Agent Q scoffed. "Will see about that X."
Casey waved her hand to X. "No, it's not too late for her."
Agent Q snorted. "You're lucky X to have her." She lowered her gun.
Agent X lowered his gun. "If it wasn't for her, you would be dead."
Casey extended her hand. "So, do we have a deal?"
Agent Q walked up to Casey and shook her hand. "You have a deal."
"Where would Deshed go with the Zela Drugs? Who are his targets? Agent X asked, putting away his gun.
"He is going for young recruits at a school. He is trying to recreate Project Dark Descent but on a grand scale," Agent Q said. "That's not all. There are a total of twenty targets he wants dead."
Casey squinted her eyes. "Do you know where we would find this school?"
"I don't know what school it is. He kept that encrypted even from me," Agent Q said walking toward her laptop. "However, I will give you a list of potential people he wants eliminated."
Agent X stared at Agent Q as if she was a ghost. "That will work. Casey, may I have a moment alone with Q."
Casey Nodded. "Sure." She walked out of the room.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" Agent X asked, fishing for answers.
"What do you mean? I gave you information that was valuable," Agent Q said.
"I want to know everything that Deshed had done including who Deshed contacts," Agent X said. "I need names."
"And I'll provide you with an exchange for something in return." She accessed her laptop.
Agent X sighed. "What do you want?"
"That I will tell once this is all over." Agent Q typed on the laptop.
"Alright, I will let you get to work then." Agent X left the room to meet up with Casey.
"Well? How did it go?" Casey asked with her hands on her hips.
"It appears she is on board with finding Deshed,"Agent X said.
Casey smiled. "That's great. Something on your mind? How is that wound in your stomach?"
Agent X stared into her eyes. "It appears whatever the agency did to me allowed me to heal fast from injury. I don't trust her. That is what my gut is telling me."
"What do you want to do?" Casey opened the door.
For now, we will play along and see where this leads. Do you want anything to eat?" Agent X looked on both sides.
"You are buying me dinner? Did hell finally freeze over?" Casey asked in shock.
Agent X snickered."You make it sound like it's a bad thing. If you are into Chinese food, I can order in."
"Make sure it is chicken and broccoli with white rice." She winked at him.
"I know just the place it is called the Golden Dragon. It is a solid buffet with a five star review." Agent X walked toward the car. "And they serve some delicious salmon, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy."
"Stop, you're making me hungry already," Casey said, biting her lower lip. And how do you know this?" Casey got inside the passenger seat reaching for the seat belt.
Agent X smiled while getting inside the car."Hey, I may be a trained assassin, but when it comes to food, it is my domain." Agent X started the car while he gripped the seat, turning his head. He backed out of the parking lot.
"Nice car," Casey said checking her phone.
"Yeah, I picked it off Agent S. It's a nice ride," Agent X said. "I never thought that I'd be driving a Lexus."
Agent X cell phone. He Answered on Bluetooth. "Hello."
"Agent X, it's Jared. I need your help. meet me at the Razor Ducts. I have something you would want to see."
"Okay, I'm on my way," Agent X said, turning to another line. He ended the call. "Looks like we are going to have to take that recheck then."
Agent X felt he couldn't trust Agent Q's motives with this alliance. There had to be a sinister plot twisting and turning at every corner. One thing for sure he would have to keep one eye open. Finding Deshed won't be easy. Agent X was up for the challenge no matter where it would lead to. The question remained: Was Deshed hiding?
