Chapter 24

The wind hit against Agent X's face as he walked on foot, looking around the block. He entered a small Cafe with soft music playing in the background. His feet tapped on white tiles as he went all the way to the back. Agent X sat by the table on a tall stool as he glanced at the window as he noticed a couple holding hands, imaging for a moment it was him and Casey. He lifted his hand at the brown haired waitress laced with red lipstick. "Can I get some coffee? Two sugars and one cream."

"Anything else I can get you?" The waitress asked.

Agent X smiled. "That will be all."

She nodded and walked away.

A man walked into the Cafe and sat next to Agent X. He turned to Agent X as he yanked his cell phone out and sent a text.

He eyed the waitress. "I would like some tea."

"Look at those people around you. Do you believe everything we do has meaning? Not like regular folks who work nine to five jobs were men supporting their wives and kids until they reach retirement when they are one foot already in the grave. Half of these people haven't had a taste of living on their own terms. Yet, they are stuck in a never ending cycle as the wheel keeps on spinning."

Agent X received his coffee and took a sip. "People can choose how they want to live. We all have choices to make."

The man eyed Agent X. "Funny you should mention that."

Agent X noticed the man's sleeve lifted up exposing a dark Raven tattoo on his wrist. He had a gut feeling this guy wasn't here for small talk."Mr. Price sent you?"

"It is unfortunate that we meet under these circumstances. I admire your work for time. It is not everyday I get to meet a legend."

Agent X gave the man the death stare."It doesn't have to be this way. You can walk away and start a life of your own."

The man chuckled, drinking his tea. "I have a job to do." The man downed his tea. He reached in his pockets and pulled out his wallet. He slid a five dollar tip underneath the tea cup as a smile formed at his face.

"You never told me your name?"

He got up from the stool. "You probably heard of me by reputation." He smiled back at Agent X. "I'm Agent B."

Agent B walked out the cafe and opened the door and left. Agent X eyes squinted as his hand balled into a fist. He knew taking on Agent B won't be easy. A part of his heart fluttered up knowing Casey and Hugo's lives were in danger. There was one course of action. Agent B had to be dealt with.

Agent X dialed his cell phone. "Hugo, pick up." The phone kept on ringing.

Agent X ran to his car and drove to Hugo's place at a high speed on the highway. He made a wide turn on the road. As the engine roared, his foot pressed hard on the gas pedal. Agent X turned the wheel hard to the right and left, swaying away from the cars in front of him.

Agent X parked the car by the carb. He got out of the car and bolted to the house armed with his hand gun. Agent X pointed his gun side to side as he entered a room witnessing Hugo tied to a chair drenched in blood with deep bruises. His eyes swollen like golf balls. Hugo nudged his head up at Agent X.

"They took her." Hugo coughed.

Agent X was about to remove the rope that bound Hugo when he saw a timer on a bomb that counted two minutes. Agent X looked at the nearest window as he pulled Hugo out of the room in quick motion.

From the outside, Agent B was watching the events on fold as he took out the detention device. "Like fish in a barrel." His thumb hovered the red button at the center. Agent B pressed the device as Hugo's home exploded.

Agent X and Hugo laid on the ground with broken glass between them as they both sighed. Agent B got in his car and drove off. Agent X got up from the ground staring at Hugo's dilapidated burning house as the roof caved in. His eyes narrowed as he balled his right fist with a hint of blood flowing between his palm. Agent X thought of one thing and that was rescuing Casey from Mr. Price and putting a bullet between his eyes.

                               * * *

On the road Agent B received a call from Mr. Price from his cell phone as he answered it.

"It's done."

"And the girl?"

"In the trunk. When will I receive my money?"

"You'll get your money when you bring her to the place I arranged."

Mr. Price hung up the phone.

Mr. Price walked toward the front large glass, leading to a balcony. His hands rested on the black railing admiring the view."Everything is in place. The council will accept me as their true leader. If not, a new vacancy will be filled with their bodies scattered into several pieces." He took out a silver coin with a Raven on it while holding it for good luck.

A woman approached Mr. Price from behind with a hug. "When are you  coming to bed?"

"Soon dear." He turned and kissed her lips."

"Don't keep me waiting." The woman said as she walked back in the room with her skimpy silver nightgown.

Mr. Price turned and stared at the gorgeous lady walking back into the bedroom from top to bottom. A wicked grin spread across his face.

There was a scream and a sound of gunfire in the bedroom. Mr. Price's eyes widened when he went into the bedroom. He paused when a man with a scar on his face and glass eye walked forward pointing a gun at Mr. Price, forcing him back.

"You have my daughter, where is she? The man asked.

Mr. Price lifted his hands. "I don't know."

The man shot Mr. Price in the right knee. "Where?"

The man pressed hard on Mr. Price's wound on his leg while putting the gun hard against his head. "Where is my daughter?" The man slapped him in the face.

"I don't know where she is. I swear."

The man gritted his teeth as he slapped Mr. Price in the face so hard as blood trickled from his lip.

"I don't suffer fools and my patience is wearing thin." The man shot Mr. Price in his other leg. He pointed the gun back to his head. Mr. Price trembled from shock and pain.

"I'll count to five."

"Five."

"Four."

"Three."

"Two."

"Okay, okay," Mr. Price said with his hands raised up, his head shaking. "She's in Washington. Agent B has her."

"Where is Agent B now? Give me the address."

"I don't know. I swear."

"If anything happens to my daughter, I'll come back here." The man frowned as he pulled back his gun and walked out of Mr. Price home.

Mr. Price got up and went into his room, finding his girlfriend that he was spending the night with a bullet to the head staring up at the ceiling. Tears streamed down his face as he went over to the body and laid next to her in hysteria. He reached for his cell phone and dialed a number.

"Hello, sir."

"Sound in the cleaners."

"Is everything alright?"

"Sound in the cleaners in the apartment." Mr. Price ended the call.

With Casey's father on the loose, it is a matter of time until he clashes against Agent B that would end in blood. Agent X walked in Mr. Price apartment with his gun pointing forward. He stepped in without making a sound in the hallway, walking in the shadows. As he approached the room, he saw Mr. Price laying next to a dead woman.

"You are going to tell me what I want to know." Agent X raised his gun.

"Or what? Kill me?"

"Death is too easy. I got a better idea." Agent X placed his gun down and yanked Mr. Price off the bed and threw him against the table. Mr. Price tried to punch Agent X in the face. Agent X countered the punch and twisted his arm until the bone popped.

"If you kill me, you will never find Casey."

Agent X frowned, throwing Mr. Price against a glass table. Mr. Price crawled on the floor. Agent X dragged him by the leg as Mr. Price clawed against the floor smearing on broken glass in desperation. Mr. Price clenched his hands on the door frame. He tried to kick Agent X off but to no avail.

Agent X smirked."You're just gonna make it worse for yourself. No matter. I will get what I came for one way or the other."

Agent X took out his sharp knife. Mr. Price's eyes raised and knew deep down pain and torment was in store for him.
