Four girls get raped every minute in India.
That amounts to eighty-eight girls on an average every day.
Just as you read through the book, several hundred girls were snatched from their parents, pulled out of orphanages and thrown into prostitution houses across the country.
This book was written to explain the concept of Rape Trauma Syndrome (RTS) in a simpler way.
The purpose was to spread awareness about the physical and psychological changes that occur in the body of a victim.
In the eyes of the world,
They are mere victims.
A person who is a lost cause.
As a medical student, I wanted to show their perspective, their struggles and the mental changes that take place in their head.
It's not a simple topic but a very sensitive topic.
Jimin's entire personality was built to explain the concept of Rape Trauma Syndrome.
The struggles he went through, the trust issues, the nauseating experiences and the fear of falling for someone.
It takes a lot of strength to accept oneself after being through someone so heinous.
So, it's a kind request to all my kids to understand the depth of such situations and not indulge in any kind of back-talks about someone who was verbally, physically or mentally abused.
Do not make rape jokes.
Rape jokes aren't funny. They are traumatising and horrible.
Jimin is my bias and will always remain a man that has taught me how to live a life.
All my books will have his character with a deep message hidden. He would always portray the strongest and the bravest character in my books.
Juliet is a famous name from the beautiful love story written by Shakespeare.
Juliet has always been used to denote a young naive girl who left her family behind to fall in love with a man of the enemies and eventually die.
Well, Juliet isn't just a naive 14-year-old girl. She was a brave 14-year-old girl who had the guts to stand against her family orthodoxy. She had the bravery to break the norms and walk alone over an independent path filled with thorns.
She was a woman and a strong one at that.
Jimin chose the name to represent all the brave young women who fought against the odds and survived through the worst. He chose the name to signify their bravery to breathe till the end amidst the darkness.
And that my friend is the new definition of Juliet.

"Maddie! Stop writing, we are going to be late to the class," the roommate called out as she lunged the back over her shoulder.
"Yes, coming! What's the first-class today?" Maddie asked.
"It's our topic of the presentation, today. The teacher is going to pick randomly. Now, hurry up!"
"What's the topic?" Maddie asked as she buttoned up the white coat.
"Rape Trauma Syndrome! I haven't read anything. Let's go and figure out there," the roommate rushed out of the main door as she passed the key to the room.
Looks like we had a nice coincidence! Maddie chuckled to herself and locked the door on the way to the college.
