|| CHAPTER-59 ||
(A/n:- this chapter is important.)
"Jungkook, it's late! Wake the fuck up!" Jimin was alerted as he saw the time over the clock.
"Mmh! I don't want to go to school, Mumma. Let me sleep a little more," Jungkook mumbled in his sleep and pulled Jimin closer to him and threw a leg over the latter to capture him completely.
"Who's your Mumma? Asshole! Get the fuck up, we are going to be late," Jimin screamed near Jungkook's ear and wiggled within his clutches.
"For what?" Jungkook asked, still heavily drowning in deep slumber.
"It's a big day. We will get the honour tags today-"
"I will graduate next year, Mumma. Let me sleep peacefully today. This pillow is too warm and soft to let go," Jungkook mumbled and snored.
"What the fuck! Yah, do I look like a pillow to you?" Jimin fired back and pushed the male off him.
Well, Jimin forgot that he was a trained agent that had a strength of an animal.
Jungkook flew off the bed and rolled over the floor and stuck himself within the wall that was adjacent to the bed.
"Ow..." Jungkook groaned as he detached himself off the wall and rubbed his red nose.
"Oops! I am sorry," Jimin quickly apologised and rushed towards the male to calm him down.
But the latter started to cry out loud with tears running from both eyes.
Of course, tears flow from both eyes but anyways heading back to the point...
"You kicked me out of the bed," Jungkook rolled over the floor and cried like a kid.
"I am sorry. I didn't do that on purpose-"
"You did it on purpose!" Jungkook cried louder and squinting his eye open to check on Jimin's expression.
"Fine, it was my fault. Now, what do you want me to do?" Jimin asked with a genuine worry on his face.
"Kiss me!" Jungkook instantly stopped crying and scooted closer to the male and pointed towards his lips with his finger.
"I think the wall broke your skull, Kook. Let's go get it checked," Jimin exaggerated and cupped Jungkook's cheek to check his head.
"I am-fine," Jungkook mumbled as his cheeks got squished between Jimin's cheek.
"You sure?"
"Yes!"
"Then let's go!"
"What about the kiss?" Jungkook pouted.
Jimin blinked twice and quickly pulled the male by his shirt and pecked his lips and rushed towards the bathroom to get changed.
"That's cheating. It wasn't even a kiss," Jungkook whined in the background.
"If you want a proper kiss then earn it," Jimin replied from inside the shower room and Jungkook groaned in frustration before dragging himself to the kitchen.
______
The entire team of the Base Station had gathered for the honour ceremony. And the prestigious badges were distributed to the people who worked under the Station.
"Finally, I call upon Agent Juliet to come on the Dias and receive the honour tag." The person announced and Jimin quickly stood up to fix his uniform and marched toward the Dias and saluted the president who stood before him.
"I am honoured to be receiving this badge from you but I would like to have it from a particular person," Jimin put forth and earned a few gasps inside the hall.
It wasn't Jimin's motive to disrespect the president but he just had a person in his mind that deserves to put that tag over him.
"I am curious to know who that is," The president chuckled and stepped back.
"Kim Seok Jin, my supervisor and my guardian," Jimin announced proudly.
Jin almost fell off his seat as he heard his name and chuckled nervously before rushing toward the stage.
"You didn't have to do this," Jin spoke through gritted teeth smiling at the cameras.
"You were the first person that I thought of when I stepped over this platform. You were the person who pulled me and Hoseok out of that orphanage. You gave us a life of dignity and honour. Of course, things went downhill at some point but I can't repay you, ever for your deed, Hyung." Jimin whispered only for the older to hear and smiled softly at him.
"You know I have a very handsome face and it wouldn't look good if I cry here. So, stop making me emotional, bitch!" Jin whisper-yelled.
"Whatever, now put that quickly. People are waiting."
"Oh yeah, right! Hehe," Jin giggled as he happily put the badge over Jimin's shoulder.
"Is the hearing today?" Jungkook asked as he accompanied Jimin out of the ceremony.
"Yes, it is."
"Stay calm, you will be fine. I will be by your side, okay?"
"Okay," Jimin smiled and the younger pecked his lips before patting his back.
____
"The court session will begin in a few minutes please stand up for the honourable Judge," the person announced, followed by the entire court standing for the judge to enter.
"This session is held to decide the punishment for the daughter of Zhu Long Cao who was involved in the crimes as an abetter."
The lawyers from both parties kept arguing for and against the verdict. It was a heated session and people were also overwhelmed by the facts discussed in the court.
After all, it was a minor that was involved in the crimes.
"She is a minor! She couldn't have ignored her father's will!"
"That doesn't give her the privilege to get less punishment because crime is a crime. It doesn't matter who commits it," the opponent's lawyer argued.
Jimin sat in the first row at the corner which was nearest to the girl's sitting area. He eyed her and blinked softly when she met his eyes.
She smiled back as she interpreted his words.
It's okay.
It's going to be hard but we decided to do this.
It's okay to be guilty but what's more important is to pay for your mistakes in the right way.
The girl turned to face the judge and sat up straight with her palms resting over her knees.
"I would like to call upon a witness!" The opponent's lawyer requested.
Jimin immediately got off his chair and walked towards the jury box and stood inside it.
"Could you explain the situation to the court? What situation were you exactly put into and what was the harm faced by you?" The lawyer asked.
There was a thick air of silence before Jimin inhaled sharply and parted his lips to speak.
"The accused was ordered to stalk me the entire day and report every minute detail of my moves. She was ordered to abduct me from the Mart. Also, ordered to use electric restraints to control me if I refused to listen. The girl was also planted into our agency to report the secret information discussed among us-"
"This is what I was trying to explain, your honour-"
"I wasn't finished, yet." Jimin perked an eyebrow at the lawyer who dared to cut him in mid-sentence. The lawyer gulped back a lump in his throat and stepped back when he felt a glare from Jimin.
"Your honour, I agree with our beloved lawyer who believes that crime is a crime irrespective of who commits them. But there is something he forgot to mention. It is 'punished accordingly'. The small phrase of the sentence might look trivial but holds onto a huge meaning."
Jimin paused to look at the girl who sat there with dropped shoulders, "Every crime has a punishment attached to it and the court gives its final verdict 'as the person is guilty of'. Punishments are given to make the person realise his guilt and work towards moulding himself into a better person. Sometimes, it isn't possible to let the criminal realise his or her guilt and that's when we hang them to death or kill them in an encounter-"
"What are you trying to imply here, Mr Jimin?" The judge asked as he noted down the important words out of Jimin's statement.
"When I place a knife against your neck and demand you to hand me all the money you have. Do you resist and say no?" Jimin looked at the hall as he put forth the question.
"You wouldn't dare to think otherwise but obey. You know it's wrong and it would just be helping the thief to steal. But you don't have a choice-"
"The girl wasn't forced to do it. Her statement denies any force used and was completely based on her will." The lawyer pointed out.
"Sir, force isn't always in the form of physical abuse or threat. It can be mental too. The concept of peer pressure exists for a reason. A group of friends drink and you don't. You are bound to try it one day to blend with them. It wasn't out of force but with your will. Still, it's a force. A mental force pushing you to do something to satisfy your partner, friend, relative, or an acquaintance for that matter!" Jimin slammed his hand over the rim.
"The girl was grown into an environment that was surrounded by men of all ages walking around with hungry eyes. She would have wanted some kind of security and her father was her immediate call. Isn't it natural for you to blend into the system to gain the attention of someone capable of protecting you? We all would have done the same to survive in that kind of environment. It's very easy to speak heroic but when circumstances rub over your nose, your conscience falls six feet deep, your Honour." Jimin explained.
"It still doesn't explain why she shouldn't be punished!" The opponent's lawyer argued.
"I never said she shouldn't be punished. I would like the court to punish her accordingly. Keeping into the fact that she is a minor and the circumstances that she was brought up in. Also, the fear of security among those shady men." Jimin ended his statement and got off the Jury box earning a few light claps in the background.
"The verdict will be announced after a short break," The judge announced and discussed the pieces of evidence and crimes of the girl with his co-judges.
"You were great, Mimi."
"Thank you so much, Kook. I just wish they don't give her way too harsh sentence."
"Let's hope for the best."
"Hmm," Jimin hummed half worried about the verdict.
"Please take your seats as the session will continue in a few minutes." The person announced.
"After careful examination of the evidence presented by both the lawyers and taking the points highlighted by the lawyers about crime along with the witness statement, the court sentences Zhu's daughter for two years of imprisonment in the juvenile court followed by three years of compulsory voluntarily service to the country. The court is adjourned!" The judge announced and Jimin nodded in agreement from afar.
"Hey, champ!" Jimin called the girl out.
"What?"
"Thanks."
"For?"
"When we returned to Zhu after killing one of the agents that night. You didn't reveal details to him and kept it confidential."
"It was a small favour I did for saving me that night. I...never meant to save you or anything," the girl fired back in a sassy tone and walked towards the police van with two lady guards holding her.
Jimin knew the girl did help him back then and he couldn't be more grateful for that day because it was the single sentence that made Zhu trust him and he was able to accomplish the mission.
A/n:- As I said, don't hate a character until you have seen their side of the story.
I didn't purposely mention the name of the girl and kept it unanimous to protect the rights of girls.
I have two epilogues for the book which will be published tomorrow and one of them is smut and the other is smut-free.
I will mention it at the start so don't worry about that.
The book is officially COMPLETED.
WAIT! I forgot to ask one last question. Who is the person (Typing...)?
A few bonus chapters will be published by tomorrow.
Hope you liked the story.
Love you guys.
Maddie🙂❤
(Note:- To all my silent readers, VOTE this one chapter to let me know that you liked the story that took months for me to plan and write 🥺❤.)
