There he stood, the one who was waiting for her. He had his arms spread out, welcoming her to his arms.
Jessica ran to him and threw herself into his arms.

Jessica: I love you, Mark

* A few weeks ago *

Jessica: I need to tell you something.

Maverick was in their room.

Mark: Hmm

Jessica: About today's meeting... And about yesterday.

Maverick turned to Jessica.

Jessica: I had gone to meet Ryan. But received a message from an agent of DDIA.

Mark: DDIA? Did they contact you?

Jessica nodded.
Jessica: I had gone there. Jackson told me to be careful of Liam. And today, Liam called us and threatened me. Don't you think these are connected?

Maverick started at her, lost in thoughts.

Mark: What did Jackson say to you?

Jessica: Liam is acting strange recently. He may do something to me or someone close to me to avenge Mr. Kim's death.

Maverick nodded his head.
Mark: But Liam can't do anything without DDIA. He isn't that experienced in running a Mafia gang like we are. I have been running one since I was sixteen. And you did too, for a long time, but no one knew about it. It's been almost six years since Liam was made the Boss of Poison Ivy. That isn't sufficient for him to plan and do all sorts of tasks single-handedly.

Jessica: I cannot trust Jackson. He may say that DDIA will always be there... But I doubt it. I think he's planning something to trap me.

Mark: He was the one who had planned to bring down the old DDIA, right?

Jessica nodded.

Mark: And the new DDIA fights against crime.

Jessica straightened her posture and looked at Maverick who looked back at her.

Mark: This could mean only one thing...

Jessica: Right, right! Jackson told me that a mother should always be careful...

Mark: What?

Jessica: But why did he say this to me? All of a sudden? He shouldn't be knowing that Liam is threatening me by using Kai as bait, right?

Mark: Liam is working for Jackson

Jessica: Jackson's targetting Born Titans. And he's using Liam as a bait

Mark: Liam is trying to use Kai to get to us. We have to risk this.

Jessica: What?! You can't be serious, Mark

Mark: We can't let them doubt. They should be able to run their plan smoothly. And when they think they are near the end, that's when our action begins.

Jessica: But how will we know about their plan?

Maverick stood up and walked across the room.

Mark: You suggest

Jessica: Sophia can do that. No one knows about her. She's the secret member of our gang. The whole Underworld knows about Enrique and Ian. They also know about Laura... But Sophia is still unknown.

Mark: But... What if she gets caught?

Jessica: She has her ways

* On the anniversary night *

Before Jackson told Jessica about Paul being the traitor, Sophia had informed her about this a long time ago. Sophia was being tracked by Born Titans like Maverick had told the rest of the members. That's how they knew that Sophia had connections with DDIA and they had held her and Enrique captive in the detention room.

The couple and Sophia had planned that apart from the three of them, no one should know about the plan, not even the other members of Born Titans. Jessica knew that they would be watched by DDIA's men and so they acted like they had a serious argument.

When Ashley was almost getting kidnapped by Poison Ivy and Ryan informed Jessica that they were followed by Poison Ivy, Jessica doubted Ashley. She asked Sophia to track Ashley and there she found that Ashley was in touch with Liam.

Jessica: Send me her call list, call recordings, conversations, and everything.

She came to know that Liam had abducted Mrs. Frank to make Ashley kidnap Kai.

Ian was sent to Liam to know about his plans. The act that Jessica and Maverick had pulled, on the day Kai was abducted by Poison Ivy, in front of Ryan, Laura, and Ian was a success. No one doubted them.

Jessica had sent all the call recordings and conversations that Ashley had with Liam to Maverick. Maverick had sent those to Alex when they were at Ian's house.

Jessica noticed the reflection of a car following her on the outside mirrors of the car.
Jessica: Mark?

She hit the accelerator and sped away. Maverick did the same and chased her. The two, seemed to be, were racing. Finally, Maverick surpassed her and stopped his car a few meters away from Ian's car. Jessica lowered the speed and finally applied the brakes. The two got out of the cars almost together. Jessica walked up to Maverick and folded her arms.

Mark: Come back, please

Jessica: After everything, how can you expect me to go back? After everything you said to me?

Mark: Love, none of these would have happened if you'd informed any of the members.

Jessica let out an exaggerated laugh.
Jessica: So it's my fault? Did you ever try to listen to me?

Mark: Stop bringing the past into this! Finding Kai is important!

Jessica pulled her gun out and pointed it at her husband.

Jessica: Since it's my fault that Kai is abducted, it will be me who will bring him back. And I don't want you to step between. If you do, you'll be lying dead on your grave, Maverick Williams.

Mark: Stop behaving like a child! We both need to –

Jessica: There's no we...

*GUNSHOT*

Maverick's eyes widened. Jessica had pulled the trigger and the bullet pierced right through his chest.

Ryan, Pamela, and Daniel were sent to bring Kai back. Penelope had found out the exact location where Kai was kept.

The car halted in front of the apartment and Daniel, Ryan, and Pamela jumped out of the car.

Daniel: The location says the top floor

Ryan: I'll get him.

Daniel: Okay. Pam, keep an eye on the back of the apartment while I'll stay here.

Pamela nodded and went away while Ryan went inside the apartment. A few of the men followed him while others stays behind.

There were a few hostages in the apartment so that people wouldn't grow suspicious in that way. Ryan and his men reached the top floor within a minute. There were three doors and one of them was slightly open.

Ryan: Adrian, follow me. The rest, see if there's anyone in the other two.

The guards nodded and the guard name Adrian followed Ryan into the room which had its door open.

The two had their guns out and they carefully took each step. There was no one inside the room. Adrian was searching under the bed and behind the curtains when they heard a loud bang from the bathroom.

Ryan went towards the door only to find it locked from the outside. He opened the door and found a man around his age, a frustrated look on his face. As soon as the man saw Ryan, he got scared and raised his hands, surrendering himself to them.

Ryan: Where's the kid?

Adrian: Why's there blood on your shoulder?

The man looked at Adrian and then looked at Ryan. He swallowed hard.

Ryan: Where's the kid?!

???: The devil... I mean the kid... (gulps) I don't know where he is.

Adrian: What do you mean by you don't know?!

???: I was the one who was assigned to look after him after Boss went away. The kid didn't eat anything nor did he cry. He just asked us to bring some papers. And he barely talked. But what we didn't know is that he was formulating a clever plan. He stole the keys and kicked me inside the bathroom. When I was about to attack him, he took my gun and shot me in the shoulder. The bullet just brushed my shoulder as the kid isn't trained enough.

Indeed Jessica and Maverick's child...

Adrian: A fvcking gun?!

Ryan: When did this happen?

???: A minute or two ago.

Ryan looked at Adrian and motioned him something. Adrian stepped forward and shot the man dead.

Ryan: He's not here. Check the backyard. He won't be able to go far.

Daniel: Okay. Come out. Pam!

Pamela: Yes Boss!

The two searched for Kai around the apartment.

A passerby: Kids are getting toy guns as gifts nowadays?

Pamela stopped and looked at the man.

Pamela: Excuse me, where did you see that?

Passerby: Back there.

The passerby showed her the direction and Pamela went there. She was quiet and tried not to make any sound. Finally, she saw Kai peeping from behind a tree.

Pamela:Kai...

Kai came out of hiding and ran towards her. He was still holding the gun.

Pamela: Are you okay?

Kai nodded. Pamela informed the two that she found Kai.

Pamela: Are you scared?

Kai: No.

Pamela took the gun from his hands and tucked it in her waistband.

Jessica: Dead

Maverick looked behind him. A man lay dead on the road. It was one of Poison Ivy's men who was spying on them. Jessica didn't shoot Maverick. It was the spy who was shot. She had seen him approaching them while she was shouting at Maverick, and she immediately recognized the man as one of DDIA's men who was dressed like Poison Ivy's guards.

Maverick's phone buzzed. He received the call and he nodded. Jessica looked at her whereabouts.
The coast is clear.
Maverick walked up to her with a grin.

Mark: They got him.

Jessica: Cool! 

Mark: You know what to do, right?

Jessica: The Bella.

Maverick took a few steps and leaned towards her.
Mark: Show them the game changer you are, Love.

Jessica looked into his eyes. Maverick looked at her lips which were curved into a smile. He brought his face closer and then gently head-bumped into her forehead. Their lips were scant inches away from each other. Jessica slowly raised her right hand and then touched Maverick's neck on his left.

Mark: I Love You...

Jessica (soft tone): I Love You too, Mark

Jessica stared at his piercing icy blue eyes while Maverick stared at her warm hazel brown eyes. After a few seconds, Maverick pulled apart. Jessica removed her hand from Maverick's neck and he cupped her face in his hands.
Mark: Be safe, Love. You know what to do, right?

Jessica smiled and nodded. Maverick placed a kiss on her head.

Mark: You should go now

Jessica took a deep breath and walked up to the car. She looked at Maverick for one last time and then went to The Bella.

Maverick hugged her back. Jessica buried her face in his chest and felt the warmth of his body.

They heard a groan. It was Jackson who was lying on the ground, his shoulder covered in blood.

Jessica pulled apart and went to him.

Jessica: I wish I could kill you, Jackson

Ryan: You won't?

All the members of Born Titans were there except Albus and Ian. Laura stood there beside Sophia who was holding her hands. Enrique had his hand wrapped around Sophia's shoulders while the other hand held a gun. Alex, Daniel, and Ryan were standing there with guns out.

Alex: Ugh!

Jessica: You're that senior who I looked up to. You were my favorite person in the agency who gave the best advice. I can't kill you.

Jessica knelt in front of his wounded body. She brought her lips near his ears and whispered.

" But I will leave you in the hands of my husband... "
