o8. Follow the Light..

Their team structure was shattered and regrouped around the Milano, a wreak that Stark and Quill were working to patch up and get off the ground. Thanos' resurrected forces were pushing forward and none of them wanted to know what would happen if they succeeded to get to Sol. The quick witted together plan was to get her as far away from the battle as possible and then count.

Sol was knelt. She only knew most of the people on their extended team for a little over 48 hours, but she was still attuned to what each and everyone of them felt. Steve stopped Power Stone blasts with his shield, Sol felt the burns on his hands too. Bucky's metallic arm was almost ripped off by aliens, from way over his shoulder and Sol too squirmed at the painful tug.

Amongst the few which could tell, Sol knew Daisy was too struggling, even after being brought back with the team. Fatigue was tearing through the lack of hope and then Thanos gauntlet shone in the three colors he has collected. Blue and Red merged with purple and it turned deep black. The black hole swallowed all the lasers Scott Summer's mustered.

The strong gravitational pull slowed Peter Maximoff's run, Colossus had to catch him from falling back in it. Logal's claws bent back, away from getting the final hit on Black Dwarf at last. Sam's wings were torn apart entirely and swallowed.

However, beyond the feelings of mortals, Sol heard a whimper which triggered in her something ancient... something she thought she will never feel again quite the same, not since their convergence together. A carnal rage overtook her for it was her kind which was in pain due to the cruelty of the Mad Titan.

Reality was not meant to be held together from its chaos, constrained and controlled; the unfairness of that cry only Sol's ears could hear activated the orange warmth in her chest, urged it to spread all throughout her body, glowing her veins in fire and lighting her eyes in the shades of entire galaxies.

"Sol?" Peter Quill looked back from his ship at her as a familiar orange shone at the corner of his eyes. "Sol!" He shouted out and stumbled out of his chair and over sachets, not because she stood up, but because he recognized the look in her eyes and it has never once been good to set off in a fight with it. Her body was starting to get translucent. "Stop her!"

Kitty Pryde heard Quill and immediately caught up what he meant: Sol was about to run right into the hands of the enemy. Luckily enough, she believed she recognized the situation as part of her expertise and that Sol was trying to phase away.

Sol did not expect in her translucent state for anything to be able to grasp her wrist and stop her, but then she looked down and realized Kitty was in the same state as her. The difference between them was the cosmic potential. Sol's phasing was a transcendence through cosmic planes, Kitty was holding on to her instead as an earhtly anchor which frankly, in the state she was in, more or less controlled by the Stone in her chest, she looked as nothing more than an obstacle in her way to her family.

Kitty's eyes widened as watched the arm she grabbed onto transmit its glow into her and burn her soul. She has never been hurt in that state.

It was her guttural scream, a ghost of echoes, which turned the heads of the mutants. Kitty was consumed away by light like pixels disappearing and fading away on transitions only once it was completed, there was nothing left behind, but Charles pained gasped, because even without Cerebro, he felt his student's death and the pain of all the others who watched.

Logan's shout came next. Sol flew off the ground and threw the black hole aside to get to Thanos. In its closing, the hole cut off Logan's claws, from the knuckles brazed to the bone. Storm landed beside him to hold back the attack of the Black Drawf but neither her lightning or blizzards and winds were comfortably matched with the brute strength and strong armour.

Thanos greeted Sol's first thrown punch with a victorious grin. He got her where she wanted.

"She turned on us!" Erik gritted his teeth.

"She did not!" Peter Quill was already rushing on a sprint to help Sol. But a hoard of mindless aliens was separating him and the rest of the now motivated Guardians from their friend.

Steve's try to tell everyone to stick together was a puerile and a failure entirely for his voice got lost in the blockages in his heart, seeing both Sam and Bucky needed help. He glanced at Tony too, relieved at least to see his newst friend valiantly take on Corvus, laser cut through the army, form a secure perimeter around himself.

After the one hit at which Thanos staggered back, Sol's feet landed on the ground and her hands raised up, facing the sky. Above them, the air glowed in a sunset colored dust, drawn out of the mouth of over fifty aliens around her and Thanos, stopped in their tracks. Their life force left and joined above Sol, where she turned the energy of life into a condensed star.

Thanos leant back and the energy hit the ground, way before himself. The explosion didn't hurt him apart from some of the dust raised getting into his eyes and making him close his eyes through the good few seconds of that blast where the lifeless aliens in a circle around them were pushed further away as leaves in the wind.

However, he opened his eyes to a settled dust and a torch of orange kicking his gauntlet arm to the ground. Sol pressed her foot on his wrist and tried to slide the whole prison of her family off. She loathed that thing, because she has known, since the beginning of time that her destiny was suppose to lay there, on Thanos' hand, not below her feet.

"Thor!" Daisy caught the attention of the Asgardian God, not just by speaking his name, but giving him a hand. She telekinetically rid him of the aliens which almost burried him underneath, stopping him whatsoever from charging at Thanos head on. With one off, Thor was able to muster one hand out and rip the others apart, by himself with sheer force or by the high voltage he was master over.

Anything that tried to approach any further was met by the flashes of yellow in Daisy's eyes, creating flames in her right hand and ice in her left. If this fight made her realize anything concrete so far is that she should have tried harder to learn normal combat and not rely fully on her mutation. Because she was growing tired of looking everywhere and with her telepathy crippled, she had absolutely no edge in the fight until she got charged enough again to explode. At what good where all those DNA strands she stored if she was tired and surrounded?

Thor managed to get on his feet and back to back with Daisy. "What is the Soul doing?"

"I have no fucking idea, but we need to get Thanos away from her, no matter what. Are you with me?"

"Way ahead of you," Thor sprinted that way, eyes white from the electric power, will of nature in his veins, but was met instead by a block of rocks as tall as a considerable hill. Ebony Maw raised it and then crushed it,  turning it into spears that at his gentle gestures charged down towards the "mortals" beneath him.

Daisy slid in front of Thor and raised her hands, releasing such cold jets from the bridges of her palms that all the stone was frozen and it shattered into snow. Thor grabbed an arm around Daisy's waist and swept her behind him, calling a lightning bolt at the second boulder thrown their way.

"Just die!" Ebony Maw gritted his teeth and raised them and the ground beneath them altogether into air with him.

"Oh, no, you don't," Daisy slipped away from Thor and knelt down on the raising patch of dirt. Her palms planted on it and challenged it down with her own telekinesis. "Thor, I need you to hit me." Healing was by far the most taxing DNA strand to make use of and if she were to be forced to withstand such a blow like one from Thor, she'd reach the point of explosion way faster and be able to grow radioactive again.

"What?"

"Like this," another voice, female, flashed in flying yellow and the punch she gave Daisy, not only did it shatter the ground Ebony raised her and Thor on, but it also shocwaved through the barrier of sound and buried the mutant far away in the middle of the alien army. The supernova like woman who hit her swiftly came down on the fight, successfully having distracted Ebony.

Thor landed safely on the ground, instinctively blasting away approaching aliens while looking up at a man in a fluttering red cloak, throwing bright orange lassos around Ebony Maw, wrapping him up like a mummy and tossing him way over the facility. Then he recognized him.

"Ale wizard!" Thor pointed out happily.

"Oh, boy," Dr. Strange sighed.

From the crater she landed in, Daisy raised vibrating radiation off her skin. Monsters which stopped by to smell her presence there started melting off as she walked out. She may not know how to fight, but war games got far easier when all she had to do was touch someone or something for it to die.

Daisy turned once around, to make sure no allies were in range, then curated the radiation and turned it into ice. A frozen explosion impaled a whole circle around her and took a quarter of the enemies remained.

"Where is Jean?" She shouted as per greeting to Dr. Strange. "That's not Jean," Daisy glared immediately at the blonde woman with the Sorcerer, the woman who punched her back into her best state.

"Captain Marvel, nice to meet you," the blonde nodded, but Daisy gave her no more than a glance.

"Jean's gone," Dr. Strange finally answered, bringing his wrists together and twisting his hands around until discs of arcane orange showed before his palms. He used them one for shields and one for attack at all times, because though Daisy cleared a good circle, the spikes of ice were quickly getting crushed by more of this animalistic army.

Charles has tried to tap into their telepathic network, but without Cerebro, he was able to turn only three at a time against their kin and protecr himself from getting too tangled into the fight he was in disadvantage in. Daisy should have been the next best telepath, but being completely out of that game made Jean their only hope and turning the odds in their favor again.

"The chains were empty and her energy signature disappeared," Stephen explained. "Captain Marvel traced some sort of explosion there."

"Is she an ally?" Daisy nodded towards the blonde, quick for she did not wish to waste any more time talking.

"I support your initiative to kill this tyrant," Captain Marvel grinned.

"Good, then we're friends. Welcome to the team."

Daisy's smile was heavy though, much like her head for she has understood at last their chances were little, smaller in fact than any of her approximations. What were they after all? A bunch of foolishly kind humans, of mutants who have suffered enough, some handful of idiots, or revenge-oriented bastards, always late and always too trouble to be their best form. She saw the chess board again, she saw her pieces cornered and what she was fighting against, the vision of the future in which they die, was starting to win again, no matter how much air she brought into her lungs by getting up again.

All these tired souls have almost forgotten that their origin, Sol, was fighting head on with Thanos alone. Not for long though.

Thanos threw a hit and it went each time right through Sol. She had the upper hand for a long time, even if all her attacks were simply a try to get the gauntlet or even just a stone off of it, not necessarily end Thanos. With the Infinity power backing him up, she found it hard concentrating on even feeling his soul. That was the price for this power: she could almost bet Thanos' soul was a black, putrid dot already.

His fist came down to crush on the crown of her head but holding his gauntlet, Sol spun around. His fist only passed through her shoulder and making him bend over, she grasped her hand over the Reality Stone and slid down underneath his arm, using the momentum to slide away. From her phased state hand, a little red stone fell into dust.

She freed Reality from Thanos.

Sol's grin got ripped off her glowing face, satisfied in her revenge because she felt her own being quiver and sense the danger the one person she loved was in. "Peter!" She turned her gaze to the side and saw Quill struggling to blast his way and get to her while Corvus' glaive swiftly cut through air in speed, going for his chest.

Completely panicked, Sol transmitted her phasing through the ground and into Peter Quill, helping the spear go through him without hurting him in any way. Across the battle and the monsters, their eyes met.

"No!" Peter Quill shouted panicked. Phasing left him but not in time to return to Sol. Thanos tightened the fist on his gauntlet and the Reality Stone was magnetized back on its place. He did not wait, he did not speak, he acted on his opportunity and used all the power of the three stones in a blast at her.

Sol was already on the ground, ready to get up, but the burn immediately knelt her. She tried to sit back, crawl away, but Thanos was gettinf closer unbothered. Intentionally, the army was surrounding him and blocking any interruptions. His win was right before his greedy eyes, within his grasp in the eyes of this terrified vessel beginning to desintegrate.

The Soul Stone could not hold together a body torn by Power, Space and Reality too. It came undone, tissue by tissue, burned away to ashes, until Sol's bones could be seen and in her ribcage about to fall open, the Soul Stone was vibrating, as a scared heart would.

They all realized too late what was happening. Too many things stood between them and helping Sol. Daisy felt a gap in her chest, falling to her stomach. She was unable to even glimpse over the hoards, over the monsters and the chaos, to see how far she was from helpin. She only saw a bright light: Is this the end?

A disk of white light formed around the tunnel of energy blasted at Sol continuously from Thanos' gauntlet. It closed in on it and blocked all of it into its runes.

As the impact stopped, the orange stone, faintly pulsating, fell on nothing but a pile of ashes.

"What in-?" Thanos staggered back, stopping the blast and staring at the disc of white magic, now starting to turn, faster by acceleration, until it blasted back the energy it absorbed from him, only instead of purple, the mirror was nothing but pure light. Behind this blinding sequence was a hidden portal to the side, in the sky, from which, on similar discs, Sierra stepped out.

She crossed her arms in an X over her chest and in a mastery of the complex spell she imprisoned a far stronger being than Thanos before, several bands of controlled glowing whiteness wrapped down on as many monsters as she could hold and burn away. From the ground, Stephen Strange stopped as the only person who understood what was happening but found it hard to believe.

"You again!" Thanos growled enraged and as Sierra formed a bright capsule over him, tentacles of light burning away anything which was within gras, he lunged to strike a plast of purple glow at her. How could he have known she was using that spell only to make some room for her partner to step in unbothered?

Thanos' gauntlet was caught by two flaming golden hands and the resistence pressed him back so hard his heels dug into the ground to stay put. Danny Rand pulled against the Titan, bringing his hand lower to look into his eyes past the flames, when the Immortal Iron Fist showed his might and took off one hand from the unchanged power of the hold.

Metal of the gauntlet began to melt under Danny's left hand. His right hand turned behind into a fist. "Rematch?"
