Deal
Silvermoon pov.
"Hades! You don't understand!"
I marched into his throne room, and you could hear thunder above.
He looked up, with a shocked face and a scared one too.
"What? What don't I understand?"
He asked.
I knelt in front of him, then rose.
"There is something going on in the world. I foresee it. And if I'm not not there, let's just say you will have tons and tons of company."
He listened carefully.
"Silvermoon, I'm not sure what to do. The laws of the dead is strict. If you do go back, then the souls will want to."
Hades said.
"So there's no way back. Not a single task?"
I asked.
A smile creeped up his face, and he leaned in.
"Listen. If you so wish. Then there is one task."
He whispered.
I leaned in.
"You must bring me a jar, filed with the water Lethe."
He bet.
Lethe........oh no.
But anything for my friends.
He held out his hand, and I shook it.
"Deal!"
I exclaimed.
Thunder rumbled in the distance, somewhere above.
And Hades sent me off with an empty jar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Why couldn't it have been he Styx? Or other rivers. Why Lethe?"
I asked, grumbling.
Trudging through the Underworld, on my way to the most dangerous rivers on earth.
Or.......the dead.
The river Lethe can wipe your memory clean if not taken the right way.
It could wipe your memory clean with one splash.
Or as if so touch it, you're dead.
How am I suppose to fill this jar without touching the water?
So many problems!
I could use my magic, but that'd be cheating.
I'd rather do a task without using my powers.
I could hear the roar of currents.
Excitingly, I rushed over to the river, whereas I slipped and almost touched the waters.
Scrambling back, from the water, I carefully grabbed my jar and put it against the shores.
It's not going to work.
Sulking, I slumped and gave up.
"No. I can't give up, my friends need me. And the world does too."
I reminded myself.i studied the angle of the water and currents.
Then I measured the size of the hole in the jar.
This......is going to be impossible.
The hike if the jar was the size of my palm.
The rivers current is too strong and wild.
How am I suppose to do this.
"Thanks a lot Hades! You made this task impossible!"
I shouted.
My voice echoed throughout the Underworld, and I can guarantee you that I heard Hades laughing.
Maybe watching me fail on The Dead Channel.
But I won't let hat happen.
Before I could do anything, I felt a presence behind me.
Whirling around warily, there was a ghost.
She had silvery eyes, and she looked young.
Maybe 12 or 11.
"Who are you?"
I asked.
She cocked her head, and looked sad.
She had blood spilling out of her gut.
I recognized her.
"You're her. You're, Diana."
I said.
The girl that committed suicide.
She nodded.
"Are you Silvermoon?"
She asked.
I nodded.
"I see you're on a task for Lord Hades. Fetch the water of Lethe. I tried to do that. It failed. I regret everything, I regret killing myself. And I saw that the worlds needed me. How? I was to become the next goddess."
She told me.
I wanted to pat her and comfort her.
But how? She's almost a faded spirit.
"Don't give up Silvermoon. You can do it, anythings possible. Don't push yourself to hard. Keep it simple."
Then she was gone.
Like that, out of thin air.
I looked back at the river and an idea struck me.
Keep it simple.
I've been overthinking!
With all those measurements and angles.
How could I have not seen that?!
Going back to work, I made a 'simple' trick that worked well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hades! I'm back with water!"
I announced.
Hiding up the jar filled with Lethe water.
His face was priceless!
"How?"
He asked.
I smirked.
"Oh, it was quite simple."
I told him.
A few sticks, grass, dirt, and powers was all.
I set the jar in front of him.
"Well, I guess you won. Your ticket back is open."
He said.
A portal opened up, a few miles away.
I turned to walk, when Hades called out.
"Silvermoon,"
I turned.
"This is between you and me."
He said.
I nodded.
Gave him a thumbs up.
And said,
"Keep it simple."
Then I entered the portal.
