After finally creating a sentimonster the designer sent out his paper butterfly which could spy on anything and everything.
(Yes it's the optigami butterfly)
"Now Nathalie, we wait." He said transforming back into his real self, Gabriel Agreste.
She nodded and walked all the way back to the elevator with him, there they both stood awkwardly compressed against one another as the glass door closed and pushed the two adults even close.
"I'm sorry." Whispered Nathalie but her boss just chuckled
"It's fine, I also hate this thing. It barely even works, and I'm always scared I'll get trapped. Pathetic I know, but it has happened before."
The young woman smiled as she also had the exact same fear, and now when they were so close she worried greatly if they'd be stuck here forever or if nothing would happened at all.
Well nothing happened, and a part of Nathalie was extremely thankful but at the same time she would've like to be stuck with her boss maybe just a little longer.
Whatever, those were just stupid thoughts! So the assistant shook her head and focused on whatever her boss was saying.
"Good night Nathalie, you're free to go."
"Thank you sir." She smiled before waiting for him to leave so that now the young woman was all alone.
"You're blushing Miss!!" Whispered the little blue kwami as she peaked her head out from 'the hiding spot'.
"Oh stop it! You're frustrating me!"
"No I'm not! It's your own thoughts...about himmmmm!"
"Dusuu! Keep it down! People can hear you! Plus I wouldn't even have a chance with Mr Agreste. He hates me! I'm lucky that he hasn't fired me yet." Nathalie sighed as she locked the office door and now walked up the marble stairs to get to her own room.
It was located far away from both Adrien and Gabriel's rooms so lucky for her they wouldn't hear whenever Duusu was screaming, yelling, or crying "soooo romantic."
But the assistant still feared that her boss could feel her emotions towards him. After all he did have the buttery pin which made him able to sense sadness, but was the designer able to feel her growing love?
Nathalie didn't know, and it bothered her a lot.
She was scared he'd think she's some maniac absolutely obsessed with her superior...well that was somewhat true.
But anyway, the young woman hoped he didn't know anything about her secrets which were not easy to hide, especially at times like this.
...
After Nathalie got herself ready she laid down comfortably in her own bed and whispered over to her friend.
"Good night Duusu!"
"Good night Miss! And sweeeeeet dreams." The little creature giggled leaving a scarlet blush on her owner's face as she turned off the lights.
"It's not funny Duusu!"
"Right, I bet you're even thinking of him right this second."
"I'm not!"
The young woman shouted right before covering her mouth with her hands as she realized that might've been a little too loud.
So Nathalie just hoped that Gabriel was sleeping deeply and he didn't hear or sense any of that.
But before she could've even forgotten about him the designer flung open her bedroom door.
"NATHALIE! I found it!"
"F-found what?!?!?" She screamed whilst covering herself in the blanket so Gabriel wouldn't be able to see her now tomato red face.
"The guardian! Come! We need to go!" He said running over to her and gently pulling the blanked down.
"No sir please! You go! I'll join you later!! Leave me!!"
"Why what's wrong?"
"I -I j-just...I'm-not-dressed-properly."
"Oh well what does that matter to me? It's not like I haven't seen-"
"SIR! I don't feel comfortable with you seeing me like that! Please just go already!"
"Oh alright, but hurry!" He added before running down to the office.
The assistant sighed in relief whilst her kwami laughed hysterically.
"It's not like he hasn't seen-"
"DUUSU! SHUT UP!"
Nathalie hissed before getting out of bed and once again putting on her work uniform, in the middle of the night this time.
And to be honest it wasn't a pleasant feeling, especially not after she got so comfortable in her loose pajama clothing.
But still the young woman managed to make herself look 'presentable' and then just like her boss did; she also ran down the marble staircase.
...
"Sir I'm-" She mumbled before completely stopping since her superior was standing before the painting of Emilie in his pijama, and he looked great. "I'm here." Nathalie added as she stood next to him and now once again the elevator closed around them.
"Good! I'm so excited! Maybe we can find all of the miraculouses!!" He smiled widely which took the assistant by surprise because he never looked happy. But now as he did the designer appeared even better with a joyful face.
"Yes I'm also very excited."
"You don't sound like it."
"Oh well you know...it's slightly painful to be Mayura but-"
"WHAT?!" Gabriel exclaimed very loudly causing Nathalie to slap herself. She was not meant to mention that she has been hurting from using the broken peacock brooch but now it was too late as her words unintentionally slipped out of her mouth. "You have been injuring yourself?!?!"
"No-no that's not what I mean-...I'm fine!"
"Nathalie! You-you should've told me!"
"I'm fine, I'm fine! Sir please don't worry!"
"O-okay...I hope you're fine. Because as much as I want Emilie back I wouldn't want to hurt you."
"Yes I know. But don't worry, I'm alright with no injuries."
The assistant smiled to which her boss hesitantly nodded back.
Unfortunately as much as Gabriel didn't want to hurt his assistant he didn't know that getting Emilie back would mean sacrificing Nathalie.
So the innocent man stood completely clueless whilst the young woman beside him knew all about the sacrifices.
She just didn't want to tell him, because not only would that break his heart, but it would also make the designer absolutely miserable, so the assistant played innocent and clueless.
"Finally!" Gabriel smirked as they arrived in the attic "Now it's time to get what I wanted! Are you ready Nathalie?"
"Of course." She smiled walking closer to him dressed as the villain Mayura.
"Well then...let's go!"
And with that the two 'bad guys' set off.
They traveled from rooftop to rooftop, until a small little house could be seen in which apparently 'the guardian' lived.
Hawk Moth smirked jumping down to the front gate which he only needed to kick open in order to enter.
Then Gabriel with his parter beside him quietly tiptoed into the room with a sleeping old man who was supposed to be the guardian.
He didn't look fit for the job, but maybe this guy had some special sort of powers to help him. Well...no one knew and no one cared because the villains were only there for the miracle box.
They searched the whole room and yet there was nothing which seemed to contain magic jewels. So both adults stood completely clueless until Hawk Moth sensed the emotions of the kwamis.
They were near by hidden somewhere, and soon enough Mayura figured out how to open that old record player.
"Here!" She whispered pointing to the box
below.
"Grab it!"
And so she did.
"Good. Now let's go!" Quietly mumbled Gabriel as he took her hand and rushed outside.
"I can't believe it! We-You did it!!"
"We."
"Alright then, I wasn't much help but we did it!"
...
After getting back home the two adults transformed into their real-selves and instead of bringing Emilie back right when they had the chance to they decided to return back to bed.
"Good night Nathalie, and sorry for bothering you earlier. I really hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable."
"No-no it's fine. I just got scared a little"
She smiled looking up at her boss who smiled back down at her.
"Well alright then...hope you sleep well and tomorrow maybe we can even bring back Emilie. The faster the better! Plus then Adrien will be less likely to remember any of this."
"Great idea sir. And I also hope you sleep well."
The young woman nodded before slowly closing her bedroom door and then completely collapsing from a cough attack.
She could barely even breathe as her coughing wouldn't stop, but thankfully Gabriel was still near and he heard her struggling so without any questions the designer flung open the entrance to his assistant's room.
"OW!" A scream came from beside the door since Nathalie was still stuck there and her boss hand just compress her very tightly and painfully as well.
"Nathalie! I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"
"I-....-I-I..." She nodded whilst still being unable to stop coughing.
"Okay, okay. It will be fine." He pulled her close and started patting the young woman's back in order to help with her struggles.
Soon after a minute or two she had calmed down and the assistant was finally able to catch her breath again.
"What the hell was that?" Gabriel questioned.
"I'm not sure." She lied "but now I'm fine so just ignore it."
"Are you sure? Don't you need a doctor? I wouldn't want you being sick around my son because then he could also catch whatever this was!"
His sudden tone of voice changed and instead of being concerned the man now sounded harsh "Nathalie if you're unwell just say that! There's no need to make up excuses. You'll get your break and when you're back to normal you can come to work. But now you're just being foolish and putting everyone at risk!"
"Y-yes I apologize sir."
"Don't let it happen a second time! You should really know this by now!"
To be continued-
