In Which The Trailer Is Released
Uh, yeah. I'm going to be writing a story.
"What's your secret?"
Kane stared expectantly into Walter's eyes. Walter noticed a flicker of something in them; the way Kane's eyes shone and became glossy, the way Kane leaned into him, the way Kane's breathing was unsteady. Walter was practically suffocating at the desperation present in Kane's entire being.
Walter slowly placed a hand on Kane's, rubbing his thumb over the young man's palm. He gave a lighthearted smile before leaning in and whispering.
"I don't take myself too seriously."
Just a little something I've been working on for about, oh...
Kane's breath hitched, before pulling his hand away abruptly.
Two years.
Vincent could feel his pulse bounding as his heart pumped faster than it ever had before. The blood began rushing to his ears and he felt his upper chest begin to burn. Vincent's thoughts began to scatter, and he debated whether or not he felt humiliated, frustrated, or intruiged. He looked stupid, he knew, struck dumb after what had happened. Vincent's gaze followed his foe all the way up until the door closed behind her, the click-clack of her heels echoing loudly across the room. His mouth hung wide open, before Mr. Thornton walked over and shut it closed with his own hand.
Mr. Thornton chuckled a little when he met Vincent's gaze and saw what he was looking at. He gave a little smirk before whispering, "You have no idea how much you look like a bottom right now."
I didn't think it would become a reality for a long, long time.
"I care about you, Amelia," Gary absentmindedly mumbled among the silence. It was one of those rare instances where the silence wasn't uncomfortable or awkward, which frequently occured in Gary's life.
Gary finally felt... peaceful.
A small smile spread across his face as he stroked Amelia's hair, and he looked down at her. There she was, her head against his chest, and he felt her soft breathing against his shirt.
She scooted closer to him, pulling the covers up a little more. "Me too."
But something inside me knew that this was a story worth telling.
"I believe in her!" Kane was shaking, and his hands were clammy. He almost stood stood up, but caught himself. "Diana can excel, I just know it!"
It was a story I had to tell.
"Come on!"
Vincent winced and began to tremble as he bowed his head. His mouth went dry and he felt his whole body go cold.
"Speak!"
There was a fire in my soul that I couldn't ignore.
"Why don't you love me?!" Amelia finally screamed. She crumpled up in the chair she was sitting in and began to bang her palm softly against the table, fighting back tears.
So here we are.
Kane sunk to his knees and clasped his hands together tightly. Looking up at the sky, he whimpered.
"I need to be a good brother. Please, God please."
This has been a journey I absolutely loved and still love.
Walter was fully spaced out, staring at nothing. As he held a ukulele in his arms, he strummed a little tune and hummed faintly. It was mostly nonsense, but it was just what he needed right now.
And I hope you do, too.
"Look at the glass half-full, Ames!" Gary cheerily called out, skipping along the sidewalk. "Nothing bad's happened-"
At that moment, a very large branch of the tree overlooking Gary fell down in between them, narrowly missing the pair by mere inches. From afar, a toddler screamed as he ran over to his mother, and she gave the two disapproving glances, hugging the child in her arms.
Gary looked down at the branch, eyes widened. The two exchanged glances at the people around them - who were all staring - and they made a beeline toward the park's exit.
