ϟ special chapter ϟ

"WHAT?!" jaemin exclaimed making the whole room flinch.

"stop yelling stupid! congratulate them instead." yuta hit jaemin behind his head.

"it's wonderful news! congratulations! oh god... i'm so happy for both of you!" taeyong smiled brightly, clasping his hands together.

soon, the other boys around the room smiled as well and clapped their hands, being happy for their friends.

it had been exactly six years since donghyuck had introduced minhyung to his parents.

six long years of lies, but also, six long years of pure happiness.

the tensions that were once present between the bikers and the nerds were long forgotten. both mark and donghyuck had introduced their friends to each other, creating a big heterogenic group. but they absolutely loved it.

was it because they had all grown up?

surely.

but that's because they had matured, and all soon realised how stupid all the stereotypes could destroy friendships and relationships in general.

now, it was common to see chenle sitting next to jaehyun and chatting about random topics. seeing a biker and a nerd speaking so casually was always funny to watch. they seemed so different. they seemed to belong to two completely different worlds. but that was their force.

sure, they had changed. but not in their behaviours, only in their mentalities. and that, mark and donghyuck were very thankful about.

if the six-year-old couple had gathered all their friends that day – eventhough they had had to change the date twice because of sicheng's irregular working hours. mark and donghyuck were there to tell them about a huge surprise...

they were getting married.

mark had proposed approximatively a week before, catching the boy off-guard, but making him the happiest boy ever as well. of course, donghyuck hadn't waited a second to scream yes and jump in his boyfriend's – now fiancé's – arms.

and they had chosen to tell their friends which seemed to be supportive. and this made them even happier.

actually, there were other people who should be told about this good news. and these were no one other than donghyuck's parents. these two were very supportive of their son's relationship, and throughout the years, they had treated minhyung as their own son.

today was a very special day. today was the anniversary of the day donghyuck had introduced minhyung to his parents. so, sure, mark and donghyuck would tell them about their wedding, but two birds with one stone, they would also tell them the truth. all the truth.

mark and donghyuck stood in front of donghyuck's parents' front door, having second thoughts about their plan.

"are you sure this is a good idea?" donghyuck asked, turning towards mark.

"baby boy... i love you from the bottom of my heart. there's nothing i want more than marrying you. and i want your parents to know it as well."

"yeah, but- "

"donghyuck." mark said, hushing his boyfriend. "i want them to see the real me. not the minhyung i have pretended to be for the last six years."

donghyuck looked at his boyfriend from head to toe.

mark had put back all of his piercings on, and he had put aside his 'goody two shoes' clothes to wear real biker ones. a leather jacket with some strass above a black shirt and black pants. and to top the look, boots and messy hair, quite the contrary of the image minhyung had built.

mark was right. it is this boy donghyuck fell in love with. not the character of minhyung they had created. even if their parents were against the idea, they couldn't do anything about it.

"okay." donghyuck nodded. "let's go."

mark gave his boyfriend a peck before knocking on the door.

donghyuck's mother opened with a smile a few seconds after.

"good evening boys!"

however, her smile disappeard when her eyes fell on minhyung.

"oh! they're here!" donghyuck's dad said from the inside and appeared at the door, the same expression as his wife plastered on his face.

"is it me or this boy looks awfully like..."

"mark." donghyuck's mother cut her husband.

donghyuck and mark exchanged a worried look.

"let's... go inside. we'll talk about that." donghyuck said, pushing his parents inside.

they gathered to the living room, where donghyuck's parents sat on a couch, facing mark and donghyuck.

the scene felt awfully familiar.

"what is this about?" donghyuck's mother broke the silence.

"well..." donghyuck started. "let's be honest, you're not going to lie what i will tell you. but you can't do anything about it anymore..."

donghyuck's parents looked at him with furrowed brows, sometimes glancing at minhyung.

"so... we lied to you." donghyuck said after a cough.

"you lied?" his father asked.

"do you remember... six years ago, your first encounter with minhyung?" donghyuck asked to which his mother nodded. "well... the boy you had in front of you wasn't minhyung. he was mark. the same one you told me not to meddle with. and the same one who is sitting in front of you right now."

both adults looked at mark with shocked looks.

"but... where is minhyung?"

"there is no minhyung. mark and i decided to create a perfect boy that liked to read and everything just so that you could accept him. it was mark in disguise since the beginning."

donghyuck's mother blinked repeatedly.

"it's impossible." she said. "you couldn't have done that to us."

"i'm sorry, but i did." donghyuck spoke. "i fell in love with mark. this feeling was stronger than any feeling."

donghyuck's parents both became red in anger and in shame.

their son had lied to them for six years straight and they hadn't realised it.

"do you realise what you're telling us?" his father raised his voice.

"you have no right to be mad. i did that because you were refusing to believe that mark could be a good guy. and now, you've been telling each other how much of a perfect boyfriend is for six years! you have the proof that he is not the heartless bastard you though he was." donghyuck raised his voice as well.

"this is unacceptable donghyuck. we're your parents. you can't lie to us this way!"

"and what if i hadn't?! i would have been completely depressed!"

"you would have found someone better for you!" his father argumented.

"but he is the best for me! you said it yourself! i thought minhyung was perfect?! well, he is minhyung!"

donghyuck's father stayed silent for a bit.

"is it what you came here to tell us?" he asked. "so that we could look like complete imbeciles?"

his wife put a hand on his forearm to tame him.

"no." mark spoke for the first time, catching all the attention.

"what is it th- "

"we are getting married." he added, making donghyuck's father even angrier.

"MARRIED?!" he yelled. "donghyuck, is this a joke?"

before donghyuck could answer anything, a slapping sound was heard, echoing in the room.

donghyuck's father looked at his wife in disblief, holding his cheek.

"do you realise your words? our son is telling us he is getting married! you should be happy!" she exclaimed, shocking mark, donghyuck and her husband.

"d-did you just...?"

"yes. i slapped you." she said. "but you went a bit too far."

"he lied to us."

"sure, he did. but he proved that him and minhyung – well, mark – were a great couple, and that they were ready to go against the rules to be together. i agree, i was against this union at first, but look at how our son is happy right now. we did what we had to. he disobeyed, and he was right to do it."

"i am not convinced that- "

"well you should be. look at them."

donghyuck's father glanced at mark and donghyuck whose hands were interlaced on mark's lap.

"this is something difficult to digest." he said.

"honey. this boy you have here is the same minhyung we treated as our sons the last years. he just changed his style."

"but... the wedding..."

"we already knew that sooner or later, donghyuck would find a husband and leave the familial cocoon." she said calmly. "and i'm glad this boy is the guy we thought were minhyung, because even if i am mad at donghyuck for lying about such an important matter, they fit together in the end..."

donghyuck father, looked at his wife before diverting his eyes to his son and his fiancé, giving them a small smile and a nod, signalling that in fact, he was accepting their relationship.

and that's it.

perhaps that going against the rules was the best option for mark and donghyuck in the end... perhaps that their disobedience will offer them the best life they could ever dream of...
