For those who might not know him, his name is Pong Krittaphat, the Thai actor who played the role of Pete's father in Dark Blue Kiss. In this fan fiction he will be Mr. Ratsameerat, War's father.
Third Person POV
"Are you alright, War?"Carole asked War at lunchtime at the cafeteria when War went to pay for his lunch tray which had nothing on it but a small bowl of broccoli and cheddar soup and a small bottle of pink lemonade.
War could only shake his head. If he tried to speak he might start bawling like a baby and he did not want that to happen at the cafeteria of all places which was right now teeming with students from all the other faculties.
"You wanna meet with me after classes?" Carole offered.
"No, thanks, Carole," War declined Carole's kind offer. "It's too painful to talk about right now."
"Did my brother cause any problems to you?" Carole asked with a very concerned voice. "I know he's got the hots for you and wants to pursue you like crazy. I told him over my dead body. I saw you first."
War had to chuckle upon hearing Carole's last statement.
"Anyway, whenever you are ready to talk about whatever it is, you know how to reach me," Carole said as she handed War his change from the cash register.
"Thank you, Car, you're a sweetheart," War said before carrying his tray to a nearby table.
"Anytime, my friend," Carole replied. "Take care and stay strong."
"I'll try, Car," War said. Carole was a real friend and a sweetheart. He could easily have fallen for her if Yin had not come into his life.
Just before the end of War's last class in the afternoon, he received a text from his father.
"You will need to take a taxi again like you did this morning. I'm still at the convention. I don't think the convention will finish in time for me to pick you up at uni"
War bit back a curse word. If his father had not sent Yin away War would have no problem going back home. War just hated having to take public transportation because you never know what kind of person you would have to interact with. There were so many unstable people on the road. Some could quickly turn violent over any simple situation. Being in a car crash was his worst nightmare.
When War finally got home, he noticed that his father's car was not yet in the driveway. He wondered where the national convention that his father was intending was taking place. His father had not mentioned the venue of the national convention.
He was greeted by their housekeeper Elsa at the door.
"Your father said not to wait up for him but to just just have dinner without him," Elsa informed War.
"What's for dinner?" War asked, although he did really feel much appetite even though he had not eaten much at lunchtime.
"Chow mein noodles with chicken bits and snap peas in hoisin sauce," Elsa replied. "It was Sea's idea."
The mention of Sea suddenly reminded War of Yin. He wondered if Yin ever reciprocated the obvious crush that Sea had on Yin.
"I'm going upstairs," War told Elsa. "Just send Sea to my room to let me know when dinner is ready."
"Okay," said Elsa and watched as the young master made his way up to his room.
She felt sorry for War. She knew that he was sad because Yin was no longer coming back to work as his driver again. She hoped that Mr. Ratsameerat would be able to find a replacement for Yin soon.
War set down his backpack on his study desk and took out the notes that he needed to review for a possible surprise quiz in the morning. His Economics professor was known for giving surprise quizzes and War wanted to be ready for them.
He had just finished reading the last of his notes when his door opened.
He turned expecting to scold Sea for omitting to knock before entering, but instead it was his father standing at the doorway.
"You're back!" War said in surprise, standing from his chair to walk over to give his father a kiss on his cheek.
His father had a peculiar look on his face. War did not know whether to feel anxious or to be afraid.
There was a brief silence before Mr. Ratsameerat asked, "Have you had dinner, son?"
"No, but I'm not all that hungry," War replied.
"Come down to my study then," Mr. Ratsameerat said.
"If it's about Yin, I'd rather not discuss..." War started to say, his chest tightening with pain.
"Yes, it's about Yin and it's important that I discuss him with you," Mr. Ratsameerat insisted.
"No, Dad! I don't want to hear it, any of it!!!" War's tears came unbidden. He hated his father seeing him crying like this.
"I have invited him to have dinner with us this evening," Mr. Ratsameerat announced.
"What?" War was not sure that he had heard his father right.
