Third Person POV
Yin did not wait to go to his studio apartment before calling his mother. As soon as he got into his car which he had parked across War's house, he called his mother.
Even though he could see on his screen that his mother had answered his call Yin could not hear her voice. But he could hear a muffled sobbing.
"Mom!" Yin's earlier feelings of sadness over the forced separation with War was replaced with intense worry. "What's going on?"
"Your father is in the intensive care unit," Yin's mother announced between sobs. "He had a heart attack."
"What hospital is he in right now?" Yin asked.
"Bangkok General," Yin's mother replied. (A/N: this is a fictitious name for a hospital; author does not know if such a hospital name exists. If it does,it's purely coincidental)
"Are you there with him?" Yin asked.
"Yes," Yin's mother replied.
"I'm going there right now," Yin said, already starting his car.
"No, no, no," Yin's mother said. "You won't be able to see your father. He's in the intensive care unit. The reason I called you is because I need you to do something for me and for your father."
"What do you want me to do?" Yin asked.
"First thing tomorrow morning, I need you to report to Tawan Vihokratana. I have already spoken to him. He is expecting you in his office first thing tomorrow morning," Yin's mother wanted to emphasize the importance of reporting to Tawan early.
Yin knew Tawan. He was the hotel manager of his father's Bangkok branch hotel. Yin's father owned several other hotels in other cities but the Bangkok branch was the main and biggest one.
"Mom," Yin protested. "You know that I don't want to get involved in my father's businesses. It's the reason why I moved out in the first place."
"You will not be doing this forever, son," Yin's mother tried to placate her son. "It's only for tomorrow because there's going to be a national convention of the garment industry's big shots and since your father will not be there to welcome them you will be doing it in his place, with the guidance of Tawan. Can you please do it for me and your father just this once?"
Yin let out a heavy sigh.
"Okay," Yin agreed. "But like you said, I will be doing it only once."
"Thank you, son," Yin's mother sounded much relieved.
The following morning, Yin made his way to Tawan's office at the top floor of his father's hotel which housed the executive offices and executive suites.
"Thank you for coming over to help out with today's national convention," Tawan said to Yin after Yin greeted him. "You will be standing beside me to greet the convention participants. I will be introducing you to them and will apologize to them for your father's absence and will explain to them that currently your father is out of commission but will not give any further explanation, to respect your mother's request."
"What time does the convention start?" Yin asked.
Tawan glanced at his watch.
"In about twenty minutes," Tawan replied. "By the way, I'm glad you came in a formal business attire. You look good in that suit you're wearing."
"Thank you," Yin said. "My mother instructed me to wear my business suit which I only wear on special events like today."
Tawan offered Yin a cup of coffee.
"I'd rather have a cup of jasmine tea." Yin declined Tawan's offer of a cup of coffee.
"I believe my secretary can prepare one for you," Tawan said, already buzzing his secretary from his office phone.
"Leng," said Tawan after his secretary answered, "would you please bring a cup of jasmine tea to my office?"
"I will, sir," Leng replied.
Soon it was time for Tawan and Yin to go down to the hotel lobby to welcome the participants of the national convention.
Just as Tawan had informed Yin, he introduced Yin to the participants who were coming in one by one into the hotel lobby.
Yin's heart caught in his throat when he saw Mr.Ratsameerat walk into the lobby and start walking towards him and Tawan.
Mr. Ratsameerat's eyes grew wide in shock upon recognizing Yin.
Tawan extended his hand to Mr. Ratsameerat.
"Welcome to the national convention of our country's garment industry," said Tawan as he shook Mr. Ratsameerat's hand. "This is Yin, the son of the owner of this hotel. I apologize that..."
"I know him," Mr. Ratsameerat interrupted. "But I... I don't understand... why did he come to work for me as a driver???"
