Third Person POV
"Carole! Why didn't you tell me that War is here in our house!" Wish sounded upset. If he had known earlier that War was in the house he would have invited him to his room to play video games and hopefully, more than that.
"Why are you expecting me to tell you?" Carole asked her annoying younger brother. "War is here as my guest, not yours."
"But he's my friend, too," Wish insisted.
"Hey," War, ever the peacemaker, decided to intervene. "Why don't we cook dinner instead of ordering delivery?"he suggested.
"Wait, you know how to cook?" Carole asked in a surprised tone.
"Of course I know how to cook," War said firmly. "C'mon let's all go to your kitchen and see what we can put together from whatever we find in your fridge."
'Can I help?" Wish asked.
"No," Carole rejected her brother's offer. "You're just gonna be in the way."
"We can ask him to cut up some onions," War suggested, winking secretly at Carole.
"Let's go then," Carole said, winking back secretly at War.
All three headed to the kitchen to see what they could find in the refrigerator.
"Where are your parents?" War asked as he brought out some garlic, onions and ginger and long green peppers from the refrigerator. He also found a bundle of celery and decided to take them as well.
"They decided to go out of town for the weekend," Carole supplied the information. "I guess they wanted some time off from Wish and me, especially Wish."
Wish made a face at his sister.
"Here, be an angel and cut all of these into very small pieces," War said to Wish as he handed all the ingredients that he found to Wish.
"What are you thinking of making?" Carole asked.
"If you have red curry paste, I could make us some chicken curry," War replied.
"I believe we have a jar of curry paste somewhere in this kitchen," Carole said as she rummaged through the cupboards.
Carole not only found the jar of curry paste, she also found a large can of coconut milk and a can of pineapple chunks.
"Aha, we can make some pineapple chicken curry, War," Carole suggested with a wide grin as she handed everything that she found to War . She absolutely loved pineapple chicken curry.
"Wait, do we even have chicken in the fridge?" Carole suddenly remembered the most important ingredient.
Carole opened the freezer section and took out a large package of frozen chicken leg quarters.
"Let's thaw these in the microwave oven and then we can cut them into bite size pieces," War said as he tore away the plastic film that covered the package.
After placing the frozen chicken in the microwave and pressing on the 'thaw' option, War turned around to find Carole already opening the can of coconut milk and then getting ready to open the can of pineapple chunks.
"Hey, are you okay, Wish?" War felt alarmed at seeing Wish's tears falling fast down his cheeks.
War pulled out a cloth hankie from his pocket and started to wipe away Wish's tears from his eyes and cheeks.
Suddenly Wish hugged him tight and started sobbing on his shoulder.
"What's wrong, Wish," War asked. "Tell me. I'm a good listener."
"Don't fall for his tricks, War," Carole cautioned War. "His tears are falling because he's been cutting the onions."
War pushed Wish away.
Carole was right. War noticed Wish smiling sheepishly.
"Oww!" Wish complained after War gave him a painful flick on his forehead.
"Now I know that you can be an excellent chef," Carole praised War as she wiped off the side of her mouth with the table napkin.
"Can you come every evening and cook dinner for us?" Wish asked cheekily.
"I charge very stiff fees for my culinary services,," War warned him.
"I will pay you with my whole allowance for the month and more besides," Wish replied, winking naughtily at War.
"Stop being naughty," Carole scolded her brother.
"Let's play some card games," Carole suggested after dinner.
"We can play in my room," Wish offered.
"Let's clear the table first and take care of the dishes," War said.
"I will take care of clearing the table and Wish can load the dishes in the dishwasher," Carole said.
"What about me, what are my duties?" War asked.
"You're exempted from cleaning up," Carole replied. "You did the cooking and that's the most important job of the evening."
"Very well," War said with a smile.
When everything was taken care of, they all went upstairs to Wish's room.
"Let's play Crazy Eights," Carole suggested.
"I will deal," Wish said, grabbing the deck of cards from his sister.
"Wait," War said. "What punishment are we giving the loser?"
"The first to win gets to decide that," Carole replied.
"Cool. Let's do it then," War said, picking up his cards after Wish finished dealing them.
Wish made a big shout of victory when he put down his last card.
War and Carole continued to play with their remaining cards.
Carole quickly covered the eight of diamonds when it matched War's eight of hearts.
"You lose," Carole declared, laughing out loud,
War looked at Wish in terror when he realized that Wish was the first winner. War felt even more apprehensive upon seeing the wicked gleam in Wish's eyes.
