Third Person POV

"Yin, is it okay for you to work a few hours overtime?" Mr. Ratsameerat asked as Yin entered Mr. Ratsameerat's study to hand over the car key. "I will of course pay you the overtime rate of hour plus half."

"Did War tell you how long he will be staying at that holy terror of brat's house?" Yin wanted to know before deciding whether he was willing to stay and wait until War's affair with Wish was over for the night.

"Is that your impression of Carole?" Mr. Ratsameerat raised an eyebrow at Yin.

"Carole???" Yin's voice turned high pitched with emotion. "War is not there to see Carole! He is there to see Carole's younger brother, Wish!"

"That is not what War told me," Mr. Ratsameerat said, his face darkening. "He said he was spending a few hours with Carole since it's Friday evening and he doesn't have to go to uni tomorrow and day after."

"Well, just so you know, Carole's younger brother is a high school kid, a minor for crying out loud. He's not even trying to think of the legal consequences of his actions." Yin said not realizing that he was sounding like an upset parent.

Mr. Ratsameerat picked up his phone from his desk and tapped on his son's number. He put his phone on speaker because he hated having to put his phone close to his ear.

"Dad, I just got here! What's the matter?" War's frustrated voice could be heard on the phone speaker.

"Give your phone to Carole," said Mr. Ratsameerat. "I want to speak with her."

"What the hell," War was heard saying under his breath.

In a few seconds, Carole's voice came on the phone.

"Good evening, sir, what can I do for you?"

"Oh, I was just wondering how long I would have to have Yin wait up for War," Mr. Ratsameerat replied, frowning at Yin for giving him false information. Mr. Ratsameerat was now feeling embarrassed that he had to interrupt whatever fun activities his son and Carole were doing at the moment.

"Um... actually that's for War to decide," Carole replied. "Here let me give his phone back to him."

"Dad, I told you I was gonna be here for just an hour or two," War could be heard saying. "Is there a big problem with that?"

"No not at all, son," Mr. Ratsameerat said, his voice softening. "Enjoy your evening, son."

Mr. Ratsameerat tapped on the screen to end the call and set his phone back down on his desk and then crossed his arms against his chest and then looked squarely at Yin.

"I think you would make a better father than I ever could be for War," Mr. Ratsameerat spoke, trying to hide the amusement from his voice. "You are a stricter parent than I ever could be."

Yin shook his head, still unconvinced by whatever War had said.

"You can believe what you want, sir, but I do believe that War is just using Carole as a front," said Yin. "War is really there to see his boyfriend of a minor."

"Stop it now, Yin," Mr. Ratsameerat scolded Yin. "I know my son. He will not do anything foolish like what you're suggesting."

"If you say so, sir," Yin said, still feeling unconvinced about War's virtues."I will stay until he says he's ready to be picked up."

"Very well, thank you, Yin," Mr. Ratsameerat said in a satisfied tone. "You can have your dinner here. I'm sure Elsa and Sea have prepared something mouth watering."

At the mention of Sea's name, Yin quickly bowed and excused himself and then headed straight for the kitchen.

Even from the hallway, his nose already caught the delicious smell of onions and garlic being fried.

"Well, well, well," Yin said from the entrance to the kitchen. "What's cookin' good lookin'?"

Sea turned around from the stove. The kitchen apron tied around his front made him look very domestic. He ran to give Yin a big hug.

"Whoa!" Yin was caught by surprise. He almost lost his balance at the weight of Sea's body getting flung against his chest.

"And I'm so happy to see you, too," Sea's spirits got dampened by the lack of happy excitement that he had expected from Yin.

"Where's Elsa?" Yin asked after Sea pulled away from him. "Isn't she the one who usually cooks the meals?"

"She requested the evening off," Sea informed Yin. "It's a Friday so she's out on a dinner date with her boyfriend."

"Oh, so our Elsa has a boyfriend, huh?" Yin asked, an amused smile on his face.

"Why, what did you expect?" Sea asked, his earlier happy smile turning into a frown. "She's still young and she's pretty. Are you jealous?"

"I wouldn't call call mid forties exactly young," Yin said with a chuckle.

"How do you know she's in that age range?" Sea asked, still frowning. "Have you been checking her out?"

"Stop it, Sea," Yin was starting to get annoyed. "You're sounding ridiculous now. I just came to offer help with preparing dinner. What is it that you're cooking?"

"No worries," Sea said as he dropped several long sliced spicy green peppers over layers of sliced beef that looked like they had been previously boiled and softened and were now smothered in thick brown gravy. "Main dish is almost ready. I just need to prepare a side dish."

"I can help you with that," Yin offered. "What kind of side dish did you have in mind?"

"Actually I thought I could pair the main dish with some steak fries," Sea replied.

Yin walked over to the refrigerator and opened the freezer. He moved some stuff around and found a large pack of frozen steak fries. He took them out and walked back to Sea.

"Should we place these into an air fryer or should we place them into the oven?" he asked.

Yin did not realize that he had stood too close behind Sea and when Sea quickly turned around Sea lost his balance but Yin was quick to catch him in his arms.

The air suddenly turned electric, at least for Sea.
