Third Person POV
Yin woke up with a splitting headache. To make matters worse, he felt a little feverish. But he couldn't skip work. Mr. Ratsameerat was depending on him to bring his son to school every morning, at least on the weekdays. It wouldn't do to call in sick.
Yin forced himself to get out of bed and went through his morning routine before leaving his studio apartment.
He narrowly missed getting sideswiped by a speeding SUV because his mind was not totally on the road. His headache was getting worse by the minute.
When War got into the car, War greeted him a good morning but Yin was too focused on pressing his fingers on either side of his forehead to try to ease the headache.
War did not fail to notice that Yin did not return his greeting. He wondered what was bothering Yin but decided not to ask. He kept quiet throughout the trip to his university.
"Do I pick you up at five thirty as usual?" Yin asked when they reached the entrance gate.
"Whatever," War grumbled, his earlier happy mood all ruined by Yin not responding to his earlier greeting.
Yin shook his head and immediately regretted that action because it made his headache worse.
At lunch time at the Ratsameerat residence where Yin was always invited to have his lunch with the other employees, Sea noticed that Yin didn't look too well.
"Are you okay?" Sea asked Yin, concern written all over his face.
"I have a really bad headache," Yin replied.
"I got a bottle of pain pills in my room." Sea offered. "Would you like me to give you some?"
"Sure," Yin replied. "And thanks."
"No problem," Sea said, "come follow me to my room."
At the doorway of Sea's room, because Sea was standing close to Yin, he happened to brush his arm against Yin's.
"Hey," Sea said, now more worried than ever. "I think you're running a fever as well! You better lie down for a while after you take these pills. They are not just pain relievers, they are fever reducers as well."
As the day wore on, Yin's condition seemed to worsen. Sea could tell for sure that he was not fit to do any driving in that condition.
Sea went to Mr. Ratsameerat's study and informed Mr. Ratsameerat about Yin's headache and fever.
"Where is he right now?" Mr. Ratsameerat asked.
"He's in my room resting," Sea replied. "I told him to lie in my bed for now. I gave him a couple of Tylenol pills to lower his fever and to relieve his headache."
"Good," Mr. Ratsameerat praised Sea. "I will let my personal driver be the one to pick up War at the university. Can you take care of Yin in the meantime?"
"Of course, sir," Sea was more than happy to do as Mr. Ratsameerat requested.
At five thirty, War was already standing by the curb waiting for Yin. He felt guilty for being rude to Yin by replying "Whatever" when Yin asked him if he wanted to be picked up at the usual time. War decided that he was going to make it up to Yin by being nice to him on the way home.
War's heart quickened when he saw the family car arriving but then he got confused when he saw his father's personal driver instead of Yin behind the wheel.
"Is Yin alright?" War asked his father's personal driver as soon as he got inside the car. "Why is he not the one picking me up right now?"
"Your father said that he was sick and unable to drive you safely at this time," the driver replied. "I think he's having a headache and a fever."
No wonder Yin had not returned my greeting this morning, War thought. He felt guiltier by the minute.
"Did my father send him home?" War asked.
"No, he is in Sea's room," the driver replied. "Sea is taking care of him."
As soon as the driver parked the car in the driveway, War jumped out of the car and rushed inside the house. He tossed his backpack on the couch. He did not bother to go to his father's study to let his father know that he was home. His father's personal driver could do that for him. Instead, War headed straight for Sea's bedroom.
Without bothering to knock, War pushed the door open.
Yin was lying shirtless on Sea's bed and Sea was gently running a wet face towel across Yin's chest.
There was a small basin of water on the bedside table.
Sea dipped the face towel into the basin and pressed the water from it before going back to gently dabbing it across Yin's chest.
"That's enough," War announced as he stepped inside the room. "I'm taking over from here."
Yin and Sea stared wide eyed at War. Neither of them had expected War's sudden arrival.
