Chapter 15
*Ansh Pov*
"Why did you do that?" she asked, not even looking at me.
"Why not?" I asked back.
"Should I think that you donated because of the service in the heart?" she asked and I nodded, but realized she is still not looking at me.
"Yes!" I replied and she finally opened her eyes.
"Ansh! The working didn't even start at the orphanage to attract any donations and getting now one is nothing but personal." She explained.
"Then it is personal. My girlfriend just started something amazing and I am helping her out." I mumbled frowning.
"Yeah? Who does that for a girlfriend and that too when such amount is involved?" she asked frowning.
"You are looking at the person who does that." I replied, removing my coat not understanding her problem in the first place.
"Anyway, I made my Dad donate most part of it." I added, smiling but she didn't smile back.
"Go and have your dinner. I already had mine." She whispered before leaning back on the bed and closed her eyes.
"Fine! And don't sleep before I return." I whispered, kissing her cheek and took a bath first and then dinner while she just stayed on the bed.
"Now, tell me what is the problem." I said, settling on the bed beside her.
"Problem? The problem is the donation you made for an orphanage, which still didn't show whether it can do proper work or not. And based on what? A temporary relationship?" she asked, turning around.
"What temporary?" I asked her frowning and she frowned back.
"Ours!" she replied, gesturing, both of us.
"It is no longer temporary. We are in this for forever." I said the first thing that felt right and the word temporary felt too wrong.
"What?" she asked, sitting up and I followed her suite.
"Yeah! So, never use that temporary word, okay?" I ordered and she had gone a little pale.
"When did you decide?" she asked in a calm tone.
"Maybe a few days, but now for sure. We will be together all the time like forever." I replied in a serious determined tone.
"You mean like this? Like lovers all the life?" she asked in a whisper after a few seconds.
"No! Of course not! We will get married eventually when we both want to and then there will be kids." The words just rolled down the moment I started thinking.
Depending on our personalities a very private wedding would be the choice and then we may need to either shift to another house or get this extended for the kids. All the plans started moving in my head until I heard her scream.
"Stop! Just stop!" her scream shocked me out of my wits because she never screams like this.
"Kirthi!" I whispered her name and moved to hold her, but she got down from the bed and stared at me with hurt filling her eyes.
"You said you will never marry." She pointed out a little breathless.
"At that time that's what I thought, but now it feels like I can do it when it is you. I mean, we both are living practically like married. What will an extra legal document make a difference?" I asked her frowning but then realization settled.
"You said this is not for forever. You said there will be no marriage. Now, you are changing everything." She accused rubbing her hands.
"Kirthi! I know I dumped everything on you without thinking. Actually, with a lot of thinking at a time. I know this is sudden, but I am not saying we will marry tomorrow or anything but I was just saying there can never be temporary in our relationship and this is permanent. Don't think much about all that. Nothing changed, Kirthi." I said in a soft tone and shifted on the bed to reach her but she stepped back.
"No marriage!" she stated with complete strength.
"You were ready to marry someone else before and even now in the future. Then why are you so... so upset if it is me in that equation?" I asked frowning and couldn't help but feel hurt.
"He promised to give a family and even in future I will look for such only. But you... you already give so much more and it will hurt... it will pain when the lies are told. I didn't care about my past lies and will not about the future, but will about your lies." She replied staring at me.
"I never lied to you." I whispered, not understanding what is even going here.
Her words seems like she is saying I am more important, but she is saying that is the problem here.
"Yes! And that's what made me be with you. But now you have started lying." She said with a betrayed look.
"Kirthi! I am not understanding anything and what the hell did I lie about?" I shouted making her blink at me.
"When a person says he will not marry you or love you then he is saying the truth, but when he says he will then he is lying." She mumbled.
"Am I going to be hanged for your Ex?" I asked, feeling the anger sweep inside.
"When your parents say, they will come soon then they are lying. When a couple says they will take care of you, then they are lying. When a woman says, she will be like a mother for you then she is lying and even a man saying he will be like father then he is lying. All the times when they said they will be with me, they were lying." She continued and her words made me pause and feel coldness wash over my body but she is lost in her thoughts.
"But when they say they don't like me present in their house, they were telling the truth. When they say, they wished I was not thrown at them, they were saying the truth. All of that was the truth. You said you will not marry me and I know that was the truth, then why are you lying to me now?" she asked and that was the end of it.
I crossed the room to reach near her and pulled her in my arms hugging her tightly while she slowly let the tears fall and then they increased to sobs.
I didn't utter a single word and just lifted her up before making her lay on the bed. Still holding her, I let her cry and finally she stopped before hugging me tightly.
"I dumped the twenty years of garbage on you." She calmly whispered and I gave a small chuckle before pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"I am just glad that I am not the only reason for this outburst of yours." I whispered making her sigh.
"That's how my mind works, Ansh. I can never believe you even want this to be permanent or even thinking of marriage." She whispered with a regret behind the words.
"What actually happened?" I asked, ignoring her words.
"I was a kid and just heard my parents that they will come soon from the function after leaving me with the babysitter. But they didn't because of the accident. Then I was taken under the care of a long distant relative who said she will take care of me near the police, but dumped me a few days later near child services saying she couldn't and she really couldn't." she replied making me wish I can say something right after hearing that but I couldn't.
"Then I was told someone will come and adopt me, but it didn't happen. Some people told me that I wouldn't get adopted and they were right." She added looking at me and I nodded brushing her hair away.
"Then the foster care started and each one of them said to that lady I will be taken care of like their own kid, but..." she trailed off pressing her face to my shoulder.
"And... I can't believe and you should believe this, Ansh." She ended the conversation.
"How did you believed your Ex when he said he will give the family you want?" I asked to which she sighed hugging me more tightly.
"I had to compromise somewhere and I chose that line as my compromise." She replied and fisted my shirt as if waiting for me to say something.
"I am not going to use that line, Kirthi. I will just try to make you believe me and that's all I can say for now." I mumbled after which she relaxed but hasn't released me.
And that I took as a some positive sign before determining to change her mind. We both drifted off into sleep holding each other with many thoughts in our minds.
"What is it?" I asked, yawning a few days later when she sat on the bed again lost in her thoughts.
"Anusha returned today morning and called me to meet her tomorrow." She explained making me frown.
"And?" I asked, not understanding her worry.
"I started getting worried about her, but then realized I am worrying too much for her." She replied frowning.
"There is nothing wrong in that. She is your close friend and will be a family also." I said, shaking my head and picked up the blanket to cover us.
"Stop it, Ansh!" her voice reached me.
Uh-oh! Whenever she says that, it is definitely not good. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath and turned to see her looking at me with a frown.
"What now?" I asked, sitting properly.
"You are pressuring me." She replied and I opened my mouth in shock hearing her words.
"I am pressuring you?" I repeated so that she can correct it but she just nodded.
"You are going late for work and coming too early from there. And what is this cooking breakfast and helping with dinner from the past few days? Leave all that, you started gardening. Today you actually folded the clothes. And that vase is not empty for the past few days because of your flowers." She just continued to complain while I just stared at her.
"All those are the wrong things to do?" I asked frowning.
"Yes! You are doing this so that... so that..." she trailed shaking her head.
"Right! So, I am pressuring you like this." I said, gritting my teeth and looked away to control the frustration and anger.
"Why else? And don't you think all this is unfair when I know you will drop all this the moment when your future at the company is threatened because of my presence?" she asked and that made me turn and look at her in shock.
"Is that what you think?" I asked, frowning and closed her eyes but didn't reject.
"You think I am going to drop you from my life with a clock of my fingers if my Dad threatens my work." I stated and she turned away but I got down from the bed shaking my head.
"In the beginning, maybe i don't know, but after all these months and the way our relationship developed and the way I was with you, if you still think like that then..." I trailed off rubbing my forehead.
"Ansh!" she whispered my name but I ignored her.
"By the way, I would have pressured you by making you stand before the registrar and ask whether you will marry me now or not." I mumbled and glanced up not knowing what to do with her.
"Was there any effect on your decision because of whatever I did these days?" I asked, turning around and she shook her head honestly.
"I am done!" I mumbled frowning at her.
"Ansh!" she whispered with a confused look.
"I am leaving for my flat." Saying that I wore my clothes and started packing my clothes in a small bag.
"Ansh!" she called again when I reached the door and I turned to see her staring at me with a blank expression.
"Are you ending this relationship?" she asked and I stared back at her hearing the question in silence.
