Chapter 13

*Ansh Pov*

"Sit here!" she asked, patting beside her while I just want to kill her right now for going along with her plan to get married.

"If you will sit here then I may tell you that the work my lawyer took care of is not what you are thinking." Her words made me walk near to her settled beside her.

However, I stayed silent, remembering her Ex-fiance incident and even Satvik's. What was Satvik doing visiting her with such proposition?

"You can hold me if you want." She pointed out, making me smile and moved my hands to hold her and kissed her cheek.

I just realized that I reacted too bad hearing the words from her after the phone call. She already told me she will not search for any grooms and we are back on track also.

Still, it didn't feel good to know there is even a slight chance of her moving on or going away from me. But why this much reaction?

"I have put him up for a task to buy a building and give it to a person. I want it to be a secret of that person, not knowing and so he is dealing with that. He just called me to say the process started and it will be done soon." She calmly explained but actually didn't explain anything.

"Who is that and what building?" I asked her frowning but she stayed silent.

"You don't want to say?" I asked, placing my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes with a frown.

"It can't be explained with just a few words. There is a long story." She replied to which I sighed.

"There is time to hear such long story and you can tell me when you want to." I mumbled and we both fell into silence.

"Let's sleep! I need to go to work tomorrow." Saying that I moved away and lay on the bed, but she followed my suit after a few minutes.

"I just..." she whispered and I placed my finger on her lips whispering back, "When you want to only."

She nodded and we both settled properly before drifting off into sleep, but my curious mind stayed awake of course.

"Remember, you can say when you want to." I repeated, taking my briefcase from the couch while looking at her drinking some water.

She smiled, keeping the glass on the table and walked near to me before pulling my cheeks saying, "I remember, but I think you should remind yourself about that."

"Yeah, yeah!" I mumbled, turning around to leave with a scowl on my face.

"I will have your favorite dishes prepared today for dinner." Her words brought a smile on my face removing the scowl completely.

This time I remembered to remove any trace of happiness from my face when I met my Dad and stayed distant during the meeting and even during the discussions.

"How are you today?" he asked when I was about to leave to which I just gave him a shrug and walked off from the room with a smile on my face when he couldn't see me.

Do they only know how to blackmail people? Well, I can blackmail better than them. Then my smile slipped remembering Satvik's encounter with Kirthi.

Looks like I need to go and give him a short visit before he could do such things again. I mean, did he seriously asked Kirthi whether his family could adopt her. Seriously?

"Can I prepare just one dish? I am very tired." She asked the moment I lifted her call.

"You need not even prepare anything." I replied, smiling while packing my bag.

"Yeah? But I know you will sulk like anything making me regret for not preparing anything." She said and I can so imagine her rolling eyes.

"If I don't sulk near you, then near whom will I do that?" I asked, smiling, but stilled hearing my own question and she too stayed quiet.

"Bye!" saying that she hung up.

I slapped my forehead with my mobile and walked out of cabin way earlier than everyday to reach her place on time and not late because of this Satvik's work.

"Ansh? You are leaving? Not feeling well again?" Dad's voice reached me.

"I have some work. Why?" I asked him, frowning.

"After that, why don't you come home for dinner?" he asked staring at me.

"Dad..." I started with an irritated expression.

"Just us three and no one from outside." His words stilled me.

"No! I will get late by the time my work finishes." Saying that I walked off.

Why is he suddenly keen on having a family dinner and why is Anu not included? Are they still keeping her in the distance? Why didn't she tell me? Then I realized that until yesterday we have not talked for a few days.

I shook my head thinking how to bring this subject near her the next time I talk to her and reached their company still lost in my thoughts.

"Good evening, Sir! How can I help you?" receptionist asked the moment I walked near to her.

"I need to meet Mr. Satvik." I replied, to which she continued to smile nodding.

"At what time was your appointment, Sir?" she asked, opening something in the system before her.

"I don't have one. Just inform him that Ansh Bindla is here." I replied, to which she again nodded and called someone while I looked around feeling proud.

Proud not for that man, but for my sister who has more than fifty percent hard work in this company. She did something which I never thought of before and maybe I can never.

"You can meet him, Sir. He will assist you." Suddenly I heard her voice and turned to see she even stood, giving me too much importance and a man even reached near me to gesture towards the elevator.

I just followed him, ignoring their behavior, not expecting anything like this. I thought he will ignore me or will make me wait like I did after Anu's incident. What is he playing at?

"Ansh!" he said, nodding when I walked into his cabin, but not before seeing that her cabin is closed and seems like she left to her penthouse also.

Well, it is a good thing that she is not here for this discussion. I closed the door and reached his table before taking a seat.

"How are you?" he asked, sitting in his chair.

"What will you have?" he immediately asked before I can open my mouth and lifted the phone but I waved him off.

"Why did you meet Kirthi yesterday?" I directly asked him and he looked a little surprise.

"Just a casual meeting. Why?" he asked, leaning forward.

"Casual? Asking to adopt a stranger is casual now?" I asked, raising my eyebrow and he closed his eyes for a second.

"Didn't think it would reach you if it is not taken forward in the first place." He mumbled sighing.

"Why wouldn't it have reached me?" I asked him frowning.

"You both are not together, right." He replied, making me remember that I have to be like that only before this man also otherwise Anu will know and if she knows then everyone can know.

"Right! She called me and gave me a class for sending you near her. Don't do such thing again." I warned him.

"Don't do what?" we both heard a new voice and turned to see Anu walking into the cabin with a confused look.

"Anu!" I called her and she immediately walked near me before hugging me.

"I am sorry, Bhai." She pleaded, making me smile.

"You were looking after your friend." I pointed out hugging her back and released her.

"So, what are you warning him about?" she asked frowning.

"Nothing!" he replied and I frowned at him.

"He went near Kirthi and told her that he would adopt her or someone from his friends so that Mom and Dad will accept her." I explained and she stared at me with shock before turning her look towards him.

"What? You met her?" she asked with complete shock.

"Then how did you get to know there is more story to it when you called me yesterday?" I asked her frowning.

"He said that he had some lunch with his new friend and his friend's wife who is a nurse was talking about her friend. And when she used your name, he thought it could be you and listened to everything. That's how I got to know that she broke up with you again when you wanted to be with her again." Anu explained.

"Who are her friends, Anu?" I asked her feeling shocked hearing her words.

"Me! I... I thought she must have gossiped..." she trailed off realizing how silly that could be.

"Exactly! She will listen to gossip, but will never do that herself. She used my name only a handful times before me only then why would she even use it before someone and that too for gossip." I said and she slowly nodded.

"Yeah! She would listen to such things, though saying she needs some entertainment in her life feeling whatever they are feeling while talking." She mumbled and chuckles making me join her.

"I miss her!" she whispered sadly.

"Well, come and meet..." I trailed off realizing what was I about to suggest.

"You are right!" she said with excitement, understanding my words.

"Actually, give her some space. I mean, our parents and then me and now even this man, everyone was behind her. It would be better if we give her some space." I advised and she nodded sadly, but glanced at him with a blank look but there is a slight accusation in it.

"Great!" he whispered, making me look at him and he narrowed his eyes at me as if understanding me pushing the blame over to him.

"Just remember what I said." I warned before taking my briefcase to leave.

"Bhai! Stay for dinner. Mom called me to invite to dinner, but I was feeling lazy to dress up. Stay here and give me company. I will even fix some of your favorites. You must be missing this food after the breakup. We can talk about her and come with a plan to get you back together. Please stay, Bhai." She pleaded, looking at me.

"But my favorite food is already getting prepared by... by..." I trailed off realizing what I was going to say.

"By?" both of them asked making Anu and I frown at him.

"By a restaurant where I already placed my order. I want to be alone today, Anu. Even I cancelled my dinner invitation when Dad asked." I explained and she nodded understandingly making me feel guilty only this time.

"I can understand." She said smiling, looking at my expression and I hugged her whispering 'sorry' before leaving from there.

"I will walk him to the elevator." Saying that Satvik followed making me frown but we both stayed silent waiting for the elevator.

"She lied many times to you all to meet me also." He suddenly said when I got into the elevator.

"What?" I asked him, but the doors closed while the confusion stayed with me.

"Do you know, today I had to fight so many people to have the food prepared by you?" I asked when we finished the dinner.

"You are dramatic at everything." She stated shaking her head and stood up to take our plates.

I smiled, standing up and followed her with other utensils. After finishing the cleaning of them, she moved to leave the room, but I pulled her back into my arms.

"Only for you!" I whispered and pestered kisses along her jaw to which she chuckled.

I thought I had this guilty feeling for the whole day for lying to Anu, but after hearing Satvik's words it kind of passed away.

"If I had known before then I wouldn't have got together with you in the first place." She whispered making me shake my head.

"Oh please! No one could have stopped that from happening." I uttered with complete confidence.

"Why?" she asked, turning around and moved her hands to brush my hair near the nape of my neck.

"Because I tried to stop it and failed. So, if I failed then no one else can." I replied, shrugging to which she gave a narrowed look but smiled within a few seconds.

"Let's go!" saying that she started dragging me towards our room.

"Someone is in very hurry." I teased, following her, but without saying a word she made me sit down on the bed and settled before me.

"I want you to know." That's all she said and I realized what is she talking about and I waited holding her hands.

"When I became orphan, no one adopted me. Actually, I was not ready to get adopted, but when I finally was, no one wanted to. So, they did the next best thing. They put me up for foster care." She started staring at my face.

"There was this lady who was responsible for me. She found a home for me and placed me there. But... but I didn't like it. I told her the same and she immediately changed me to another, but after some time I didn't like that also. Like that a few times same thing happened." She paused closing her eyes.

"Then?" I whispered, holding her hands more tightly.

"Then I stopped complaining, but still every single time she visited she used to ask whether I am fine there and I would say yes. After that also I had to change homes, but it was never because I asked her to and always for other reasons. But I know, I know that if I had asked her then she would have done it for my sake, no matter how many times." She mumbled opening her eyes.

"She listens, Ansh. She listens to the children because I met other foster kids and for them it was surprising to see her behavior. Because many times the officers think children are just showing tantrums, but she didn't think that and listened to the kids." She explained with a smile and I nodded smiling back.

"But her head people used to think she was lagging behind her work because of which she couldn't get any promotion and earning was also little. Now, she has kids and everything but she is not that happy and the kids like I was that time needs her, right?" she asked searching my face.

"Yes!" I whispered.

"So, I found an orphanage and bought it immediately when the will timing is finished. Then I asked my lawyer to get her as supervisor with the owner in shadows. She will soon be the in charge of it." She said with excitement sweeping in her eyes.

"Why shouldn't she know?" I asked, moving my hand to caress her cheek.

I waited for some answer like the woman will not accept it from her or because she doesn't want anyone to know but her answer surprised me again.

"If she knows it is me, then I have to talk to her about the past that is about the homes I lived. I don't want to talk about it to anyone." She replied looking away.

"Okay!" I whispered, moving my hands to encircle her waist.

I leaned back on the bed along with pulling her with me and lay down with her over me. Pressing a kiss to her forehead, I held her tightly and we both drifted off into sleep.
