Crush
(Charlie and John are 19, Michael is 20.)
"I had a great time," John said with a smile, locking his eyes with Charlie's. Charlie smiled back, nodding as she said "So did I. We should do this again." John nodded, shifting awkwardly. Charlie rubbed her arm nervously, unsure of what to say next. John bit his lip before hesitantly leaning in. Charlie leaned in as well, lips connecting in a sweet kiss. John cupped her cheek gently, pulling away after a moment. They locked eyes once more, John blushing softly as he quickly pulled his hand away. He was nervous he did something wrong. "Uhm," Charlie chuckled slightly, looking down as she fumbled with her fingers anxiously.
A loud honking filled their ears, causing them to jump. Charlie snapped her head over, eyes landing on a nearby car. Michael was sitting in it, shit eating grin being on his face. "Come on!" He shouted after lifting his hand from the horn. Charlie huffed slightly, checking the time on her watch. It was 5:37PM. "Uh– I gotta go," she said sadly. "I'll call you. Okay?" She said as she looked back up at John, John giving another smile before nodding. "Alright." They waved by as Charlie hurried over to Michael's car, quickly getting in.
"Well?" Michael asked, breaking the silence in the car. Charlie looked over at him, watching as he drove. "Well what?" She asked, knowing damn wel what he was poking at. "Oh c'mon, Charlotte," he started, glancing over at her before looking back at the road. "Tell me how it went."
"It went good," Charlie said as she looked at the road in front of them, the car beginning to slow as they neared the traffic light. She could see Micha give a face out of the corner of her eye. "Charlie, for real. I wanna know!" He said, looking at her completely once they were stopped. Charlie sighed softly. "We went to lunch and went to the arcade," she hummed, digging in her purse. "He won't me this. Said it reminded him of Theodore," she said as she pulled a small, pale blue bunny plush out. "Thing costed 1,500 tickets. Crazy, right?"
"Very," Michael said, unsure if 1,500 tickets was worth such a small prize. "D'you kiss?" He asked abruptly. Charlie went quiet, glancing over at him. She couldn't hold in the smile that threatened to form, quickly turning to look out the window. "Shut up," Michael gasped, Charlie grinning wide as her face began to turn pink. "Charlieee!!!" Michael said excitedly, giving her a playfully shove as Charlie giggled. "What happened to 'It's not like that', huh?" He asked as the light turned green, him beginning to drive again. "..well clearly it was like that," Charlie responded, chuckling as Michael said "Yeah, I told you so." Michael suddenly giggled, mischievous grin (T H U N D E R –) being on his face. "When's the next date?" He asked, Charlie now being on her phone and smiling at the texts she had received from John. "He actually just asked the same thing," she hummed. "Fuck off, really?" Michael asked, glancing at Charlie again. She nodded, typing a response. "So like, you're practically married at this point then," Michael said, earning a scoff and an eyeroll from Charlie as a response.
